31st Normandy mod -WW2

Recommended Posts

Excellent stuff, I always like to see Brits in WW2 games, we tend to get shamefully overlooked smile_o.gif Looking good already and I'm sure they'll look better still by the time you finish.

I'd just like to take issue with this statement:

>if youre thinking of making british armour too, here's their 2 main tanks during WWII, "crusader" and "Cromwell

That's a bit misleading. Crusader was an early war cruiser tank, by 1944 Cromwell had replaced it completely.

Brits also used Shermans in large numbers, which you are presumably already modelling for the US. But there was also the Sherman Firefly, a Brit modification which replaced the 75mm with a long 17pdr AT gun for greater effectiveness against enemy tanks: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sherman_Firefly

It would be nice to have Churchills as well, more heavily armoured than the Cromwells and Shermans, but very slow, intended as direct support for infantry.

there's nothing wrong on that german infantry, no problems with the tank either. if you're going to make wehrmach or whatever infantry, their uniform was mostly black.

as i recall the werhmacht used feldgrau unifroms,

didn't the SS deathsquads Use black as well as panzer crews?

You are wrong! Type wehrmacht into google and show me one black uniform except tankcrews, etc.

But why do i bother? Faulkner will handle that *giggles*...

I guess this concerns Stubblehopper more than it concerns Rip31st:

The Stug III is from Invasion 1944. As I have told Stubblehopper already in my PM earlier this month, when he imported the Tiger I, we never gave him permission to use our content.

He replied to the message, indicating he had read it. As he does not seem to take the hint from our PMs, we're posting in public now so that everyone can read about it. We feel that any continued violation is not out of error, but a purposely planned violation of our Intellectual Property rights.

As BIS has made it very clear, permission received for editing OFP content is only valid for use in OFP, not ArmA1, ArmA2 or any other game without our permission. Any use of the content without our permission is therefore illegal.

The proof, look at the exact match with the pattern of the texturefile of the Side-skirt of the I44 Stug:

[Comparison]

Sorry you had to get involved Rip31st.

Tomahawk... banghead.gif

Where do you see a black uniform on your link? The belt is black but not the jacket - are you colourblind? Maybe you should increase brightness on your monitor...

Those trousers are grey and the jacket is some shade of olive

The fielduniform was "feldgrau" some kind of grey (sorry i don't know the correct names of the colours in english - i am not a native speaker - i am German...).

just klick on one of the soldiers and see it yourself

sry, for being miessleiding. by saying black i meant blackish, like grey. believe it or not, they did wear that uniform in combat. (maybe not during the winter wars in germany or in woodland combat but atleast in black op missions, like they did in WWI)

The belt on the brit is still too low. If you want to get nit picky then the german is also lacking, but what the hell, this is for fun, agamoth asked for feedback so I gave him some.

ive noticed that machinegunners usually shoot on stand pose. so, it would be nice if the machinegunners would get down and shoot and/or look for treelines and windows to shoot from. cause during WWII germans had a lot of snipers and MGers shooting from windows.

I was unaware this was property of another entity I did not know existed. It's removed. Thanks for the heads up.

Research and pay attention before your next post! I never want to see any "MISLEADING" information, again!

It would be natural for the Machinegunner to assume a defensive position, never one that would compromise his position.

You guys need to chill out... and put the egos aside.

1. AI is limited in Arma.  It is up to a mission maker to make the missions as realistic as possible to script the AI to do certain things that give an illusion of realism.

2. All this arguing about uniforms is stupid when the current ones shown in the in-game screenshots look just fine to me.   You can go insane with historical detail and get into massive arguements over the tiniest details.

Personally I just want to see at least ONE WWII mod of some type to be finished in ArmA.  Once that's done, the details and different varieties of units and uniforms can be worked out.

3.  WHY THE HELL ARE THE WWII MODS NOT WORKING TOGETHER?huh.gif   I didn't even know the Inv1944 mod (my favorite OFP WWII mod) was still alive.   If you guys all worked together we'd have the most amazing WWII mod ever made!

I'm a big fan of working together with the community. As you can see several people are working on this mod. Hopefully more will volunteer their work to make a complete package. It's apparent I haven't talked with all the WWII addon creators. I'm pretty much wrapped up in creating models. I hope to talk to as many as possible in the near future to avoid such instances. As for the misleading part. I really don't think anyone here intended on doing that, so I will leave that to rest.

Anyway here is a look at the Tiger I sitting on my desktop:

tiger1.jpg

Maybe by tomorrow night I will have it functioning. We shall see.

You are right Miles Teg, they should try and all work together. And that should be the same for all other mods and addons that are slightly similar.

How much processor power does the FFN mod take up? Some of us are still using old Celeron D dual cores, putting enough AI in vanilla arma gets down to about 20 FPS, adding stuff like that can be a showstopper.
