Nem Zombies with TCP anims

They are very nice indeed. While playing OTK Range of Dead, the way the zombies move around contributes greatly to the ambience...

However, when more than 20 zombies are on the map, the computer starts to lag, more than 50 and it's unplayable. Do anyone know if some optimisations are possible on these ? They really can't be used on a large scale, and that's a pity sad_o.gif

Well, maybe some scripts can be deactivated, when not essential...

william1 tnx, what did cause the lag? Are they any faster to be actually dangerous?

Hi ! I ran some very quick missions in the editor with increasing number of zombies. There were 9 US soldiers from 1st Infantry Div and between 25 to 60+ zombies in Northern Sahrani, near the castle at Alcazar.

The lag is gone ! Good job on this one smile_o.gif Now all missions can play with a decent amount of zombies. Having fun again !

Great that lag is gone tho I did like the countdown and antidote elements.

One question:

Is it possible to make the zombies chase characters from larger ranges? I made a crowd of em surrounding a town with me in the middle but they just wander around and only attack if I get close. I did try with a Seek&Destroy waypoints too.

To make em more difficult it might be good to have head shot kills ONLY.

In all test i made the zombies worked well, it's true they sometimes go prone when they see you but they stand up after a second .

I have the NO ATTACK zombies as well. I have tried a few different options and they just wander past me or stand nice and close so I can see their faces in all their horror.

I tried the Yomies Zombies and they attacked no problem.

I have a bunch of addons structured in folders loading using the advice of the "Add On Compilation for more Realism and Immersion" post set up the same way The D suggests..

Could the AI addon\s be over riding the Zombies?

William1 I also have FFN_RELACEMENT with the core files of FFN as well running as well could they be interfering in some way with the Zombies.

I have followed the readme. I have XEH (have to for all the addon I use need it) and I have set the RAC to No one friendly. My AI soldiers mow them down with no problem. It is the Zombies not engaging. The zombies.pbo is in the last folder loading but so is the FFN pbo. I am totally grasping at straws. I am fairly confident it is an addon issue.

I am networking tonight and I wanted to surprise my squad with a Friday the 13th mission using these amazing zombies.

Mission idea is squad is sent in knowing only that the last radio message from the town defence force was that they where being attacked by locals. Last words where" They are all dead..........." City will be in flames, buring vehicles. some locals running pelmel around the city. Unit has to work it's way up to the main bunker in town on foot. I will hide the zombies until they are in the middle of town and then I will spawn them all over the city as the sun goes down.

I will try taking out the AI changing PBO and see what happens.

If no one has idea's I will post what I find out later this weekend

One other thing a Woman Zombie in the test mission has REALLY big hands Almost claws is this normal? IS she morphing into something more horrible? (Resident Evil)

@Styxx ,quite sure it does not conflict with ffn replacement because i always play with it enabled and i don't have any issues regarding the zombies attacks, i don't know if some other addon could interfere with the zombies , to make the test, run the game with no addons and only the nem-zombies.pbo to see if it works. Since most of the people doesn't seem to have any problem with them maybe is an addon you have installed wich is overriding some script.

Tried it with just the XEH and NEM_ZOMBIES.pbo

I get this error when loading mission CZMDemo2.Sara mission.

"no entry "bin\config.bin/CfgVehicles.AntiBox1"

I got it before but I blew it off as one of my addons I messed up.

Any Idea why I am getting this? is it a clue as to what I have messed up?

And no surprise but they attacked and killed me with only those addons.

I did find I had V 1.26 and 1.7 XEH.

But that didn't fix it.

Still working at it.

@Styxx , the error you get is due to the fact that that mission was built for the anterior version of the zombies , the "laggy" one, if you downloaded the latest version , it has removed the antidote and time counter option to optimize the lag to the minimun. Now you should try to locate the addon that conflicts with the zombies and put it in a separate addon folder maybe , regards.

I firmly believe it is an addon. After 4 hours I have tracked it down to my @General folder from the List that Dr.D has put out.

Okay Strike that apparently I was more tired then I thought. Still no attack zombies with my @replacements as well.

Works fine with QG though.

I ran out of steam working through the addons last night. Look to your addons for the problem.

I am back on and going back in. Problem is the long load time. I have a Q6600 4 gig PC6400 XP 64 GT8800 OC 512 and it still takes a long time going in and out and in and out. It must be done.

Once more into the breach my friends......

zombies everywhere, great job guys, lag free version rocks, tcp anims are really cool. armor now like it should be, damn they scared the shit out of me. in my opinion it is perfect now, sad to hear others have problems, but i am as happy as i could be . thx!

I found the solution to the NO attack Zombies. yay.gif

GMJ_SightAdjustment.pbo is the culprit that stops the Zombies from attacking on my machine.

They are now attacking, but with all my other addons they are also speaking Arab, picking up grenades (smoke) off fallen soldiers and throwing them. Kind of funny. I know how to fix this. But is certainly is flavourful.

I need some one else to test this please.

Preferably one of the two previous posters that couldn't get them attacking.

LMAO, those are some funny zombies. I just reinstalled arma, and don't have many addons, but I will look through them to see if any might be interfering. BTW, are you using the new patch like me?

UPDATE:

I shut down my computer last night, don't know if that did anything (people might want to try it, though) I also deleted my villas ww2 mod. That might have been doing it.

In case you didn't catch my drift, the zombies are working now smile_o.gif So if people are having my problem, you might want to try both.

Time for a homebrew trailer with my new copy on sony vegas biggrin_o.gif

UPDATE AGAIN:

I tried reinstalling villas ww2 mod, and the zombies still work. I think that you might have to0 re-start your computer after installing the zombies/extended event handlers. Apparently that did it for me.

You should probably tell people that in the first post.

This mod is an epic win. I would have to rate it as the best addon for armed assault, granted, I really, really love zombies. Thanks a billion for the addon. I will be sure to make a trailer for you guys.

By the way, you should mention restarting your computer, I am nearly positive that is what did it for me.

They still have the same issue as the old NEM zombies in that more than a few of them crushes your performance horribly.

I also get the "No Entry 'bin\config.bin/cfgVehicles.Antibox1' error, although the NEW_Zombies and Event Handlers are in the original Addons folder, with NO other Addons added......

K, so where do I FIND the addon that contains Antibox1, lol

and yes, everything is patched, upgraded, and I even downloaded the "new" Rapdishare link of NEW_Zombies, no difference
