The projects not dead, in fact, I've distributed the C130 to a number of people for testing include a few who have PM'd me.

Screw it, people have waited long enough.  If you REALLY need the C130, then you can download it from http://www.dhd.co.nz/files/usec_c130_v0.2.rar.  This version is from 30 August 2008.

Please don't host this file just yet.  It's not really an alpha and it's been out with USEC and VMA and a select few who have PM'd me so PLEASE DO NOT HOST THIS FILE.  Don't consider this a release just yet, more a proof of concept.

The reason it's delayed is I was so sick of the C130 - that I didn't have the headspace to fix the bugs, so I moved onto another project (fixing the USEC F117) and then onto my secret project until such time as my mind was clear to fix the bugs.  One needs to be in a good space to produce quality work.

couple thoughts

- Cant walk up ramp

- Cant walk up stairs

- Smoke cuts out and in ... whats the trigger?

- Flaps work maybe too well smile_o.gif

Otherwise flys nice, probably as a C130 would wink_o.gif

Noticed one thing that A.i's in the cargo are not shown at all :P

its just a green circles in somewhere inside the plane when i select my a.i's under my command tounge2.gif

Also during my tests revealed that it could take 4 anti air missiles from the Opfor Su34 and the aircraft did not go down tounge2.gif

maybe 2 missiles but shooting 4 and not taking it down feels over kill biggrin_o.gif

I got a idea , i dunno maybe it got 4 engines and it needs 4 missiles to take it down and maybe a 5th to destroy it totally?

I also get the smoke issue that Gnat pointed out.

One thing I noticed as well and should be fixed is that I tried to land with the landing gear in the up position (just wanted to try it) and I landed just fine. It came to a abrupt stop after a few meters, but that is when I noticed that the plane was sitting off of the ground as if the landing gear was deployed. I then tried to take off with the landing gear in the up position and the plane sat there like a rock, it didn't even move though it was sitting up off the ground, which is what it should do.

Will deal with all issues raised in good time, as there are some bugs in there that I did not know about. This really is "pre-alpha" and I wouldn't say I've released it as such, this is what I would call a proposal for comment... so people can see the direction I headed with this.

To get the cargo working, you need to drive a supply truck up to the back and "load" the vehicle. This animates two cargo containers in the back of the aircraft. Instead of using the supply truck (which I think is in the main USEC Mod, which is not publicly available and very non-user friendly), you can directly set the animated state of the C130 by animating:

_object animate ["Container_1",0];

_object animate ["Container_2",0];

Then when airborne, you can open the cargo bay door, and drop vehicles and supplies. Much of the cargo features only work as part of the USEC addon, which I'm sure the USEC members can attest is complicated and not user friendly. I'm hoping to take those pieces out and make them work with this c130.

But right now, I'm having fun with a project that makes things go "bang" wink_o.gif

hey mate great addon, me and pufu worked out how the cargo container system works, its amazing seeing a c130 flying around an dropping containers on ur position and the green smoke to indictate its position was pretty neat.

Well, it's a start. It's like a fat girl who's on a serious diet.  Sure, she's fat now... but you know in a few months...

I really need to cut down on the the amount of coke I drink at work, by the time Friday comes around I'm going nuts.

I've been playing with dialogs for another project, and I think I might deal with loading and unloading by making a dialog system for a loadmaster etc...  I'm almost interested in working some more on the C130 again.  Thanks to all who have provided bugs and feedback.

haha nice one icemotoboy! btw does any1 know how to work out the cargo dropping stuff from the c130? I haven't had much time to mess around in the editor lately due to some heavy assignements in school lately. ( learning Z-brush basics when you are used to Maya or 3d studio max is painfull at start )  biggrin_o.gif

Is their a way to add one vehicle from in the editor , rather than spawning a new one to drop?, im making an airdrop mission for VMA, and want to drop in a mobile respawn from norrins script.q

you ca drop like this:

Then press it, and the truck will disappear, and there will appear a cargo-container at the back of the plane. then, get back into the plane, and take-off. open ramp and you should have these actions:

DROP HMMWV (you can select the variants)

DROP m113

once you select the vechile you want to drop, it will be droppen in a cargo-container, and paradropped. once it lands, the container disappears, and Green smoke will mark where the container dropped, and there you will find the vechile you dropped, fully loaded and working wink_o.gif

does anyone knowthe name of the actions so the c-130 can be ordered via radio/other trigger to open the ramp and then drop supplies?

Would love to do paradrops and large scale battle and driving people and equipment around with it. smile_o.gif

All you gotta do is start up an empty island in the editor and place the c130 by itself. Then just check the mission file for that class name.

The only trouble occurs when an AddOns pack is huge, like IDF, it can be quite time consuming. The only other one I have trouble with is the Russian tank pack cause the class names don't really represent what the tank is.

Hey manzilla can i deploy cargo from the c-130 after i used it in a say spawn script when buying it or something like that?
