otrebla_snake_ita 2 Posted December 20, 2008 Why don't you make a new patch that resolves the problems that some users resolved (for example, watch the 26\27\28 pages =D) EDIT: Maybe, changing too the Ak47 ironsight
malik22 0 Posted December 26, 2008 Hi guys I just bought OPF never played it before played arma though what version of this mod should I try first FFUR 85 or 2007 FFUR SLX?And what does SLX stand for?
Bordic 0 Posted December 26, 2008 I wondered about that... any ideas what the sound files are for the bullet thudding into the ground? At the moment firefights tend to sound like a ping pong game in a tin room. Exactly , when I was playing I hear a lot of clicks and click clock type noises, not bullet cracks, albeit they are there, I checked the sound samples and they sound incomplete, but I think its that way because of the sound duration is as a loop, I don't know if the configuration for that is changed though. I changed the config entry for the bullets hitting the ground and now the ricochets sound like ricochets and not just bullets cracking every time they hit the ground. Thunderbird, you might want to look into changing that maybe, it sounds really odd because they are so loud when you shoot the ground by accident. Â The sounds that are or should be targeted are bulletricochet1 through 5, bulletricochetburst1 - 5, also singlehitground001 - 005 Could you please tell which are the strings to be modified in the config as I didn't understand the relation between the changes to be made in the post in which you pointed out the crack.wss and the references to ricochet sounds you give in a couple of posts after? Bordic 0 Posted December 26, 2008 Hi guys I just bought OPF never played it before played arma though what version of this mod should I try first FFUR 85 or 2007 FFUR SLX?And what does SLX stand for? To know everything about SLX, this is the thread to look through. About which mod to use, it is just a personal taste, if you like to play the 1985 era, then ffur'85, otherwise ffrur2007. SLX mod is included in both. Personally I like graa and ecp mods, fdf is also good for the new functionalities and different scenarios. Plain slx is also good but it is sometimes too graphics demanding and the shortcut menus have too much (my humble opinion...) functions which can confuse the player when trying to make quick decisions. however there are many mods to choose from...just look in the addon complete subforum for links and discussions. anguis 4 Posted December 26, 2008 I second the GRAA+ECP recommendation. I suggest giving GRAA+SLX a try (great performance coupled with the superb SLX AI), as well. Read this page for the GRAA+SLX info. As far as which to try first, FFUR '85 or FFSX 2007 2.5, I'd go with FFUR '85. FDF is awesome! And so is WGL! And so, too, is ww4! Welcome to OFP. ariochrn 0 Posted December 26, 2008 Bordic, look in @ffsx85/bin/sound_dr.h and search for bulletsingle_hit_sounds and bulletauto_hit_sounds. You'll see the sounds are all crack.wss files, so I just redirected to other ground hit sounds. My lines look like this: #define BULLETSINGLE_SOUNDFLY soundFly[]={"\ffur_sfx_cracks\crack_2.wss",1,1}; #define BULLETSINGLE_HIT_SOUNDS soundHit2[]={"\ffur_sounds\hit\singlehitground001.wss",2,1};\ Â Â Â soundHit3[]={"\ffur_sounds\hit\singlehitground002.wss",2,1};\ Â Â Â soundHit4[]={"\ffur_sounds\hit\singlehitground003.wss",2,1};\ Â Â Â soundHit5[]={"\ffur_sounds\hit\singlehitground004.wss",2,1};\ Â Â Â soundHit6[]={"\ffur_sounds\hit\singlehitground005.wss",2,1};\ and for the auto: #define BULLETAUTO_HIT_SOUNDS soundHit2[]={"\ffur_sounds\weapons\bulletricochetburst1.wss",1,1};\ Â Â Â soundHit3[]={"\ffur_sounds\weapons\bulletricochetburst2.wss",2,1};\ Â Â Â soundHit4[]={"\ffur_sounds\weapons\bulletricochetburst3.wss",2,1};\ Â Â Â soundHit5[]={"\ffur_sounds\hit\singlehitground001.wss",2,1};\ Â Â Â soundHit6[]={"\ffur_sounds\hit\singlehitground002.wss",2,1};\ Â Â Â soundHit7[]={"\ffur_sounds\hit\singlehitground004.wss",0.031623,1};\ Â Â Â soundHit8[]={"\ffur_sounds\hit\singlehitground005.wss",0.031623,1};\ Hope that helps! Bordic 0 Posted December 26, 2008 Thanks for your help, I will look into @ffsx85/bin/sound_dr.h asap. And I think I will also implement the "worldname thing" stated above as to get more FPS! I also don't like that grass very much...
Thunderbird 0 Posted December 28, 2008 Hi fellas, Sorry for the long time being off.. Glad to see some people still interested into the MOD and I promise I'd do a patch for it fixing all reported bugs, or at least, the "fixable" ones. I'm done with P'85 for ArmA as it reached a 90% showable status, therefore, I'm getting back to the first love...heh. I'll get a look at the previous pages to regroup as most as I can and see how we would figure out things. Best Regards, TB

Bordic 0 Posted December 30, 2008 @thunderbird'84 I have a little request/suggestion about FFUR'85. In order to avoid performance hit with the new high-res islands, would it be possible just to use grass covered original OFP/RES islands with WGL worlds. In this way lag is very low with my Acer laptop with 512 up to 1280MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600, Vista32, 2GB DDR, Intel core duo 2,4Ghz T7700.
Vultar 0 Posted December 30, 2008 To start with. I am starting ffur and what I see? Lagg So what? Quote[/b] ]In order to avoid performance hit with the new high-res islands, would it be possible just to use grass covered original OFP/RES islands with WGL worlds. +1 Also would be nice to reduce some of SLX features. The loads of smoke, dust etc. I think that good fps are more important than some smoke which gives no feeling but only view block that makes you get killed by AI hidden in it. Tb, I bet you have seen Sanc's new project WW4, using some of his awesome animations would for sure increase the mod's feeling.
Bordic 0 Posted December 31, 2008 To be honest I am using original OFP abel/cain/eden.pbos, but grass covered, instead of FFUR high-res ones but with resistance foliage and houses. A good compromise for my PC I think. And firefight is now better. I would also prefer the BIS standard FOV settings as they are less performance hit than current ones, and gameplay doesn't lose much. Also the 3rd person view for soldiers could be set like in GRAA mod. And yes, something about SLX smokes should be set lower than now, imho. Personally, I only use MrBurn's AEC Islands with original OFP/RES game and WW4. With ECP+GRAA I need to lower ground detail or ECP settings accordingly. Well That isnt exactly the best optimized system. 2 gigs of ram on vista is too low, Built in Video never works as well as drop in cards as well. I just want to be able to run FFUR 85 with friends and have it not crash in multiplayer

Franz_von_Humboldt 0 Posted February 8, 2009 Hi guys! I'm new here so I just wanted to ask a question to those FFUR '85 veterans. I really enjoyed playing OPF with graa mod and ecp on but now I want to try the FFUR series and I just don't know which version would be better. I downloaded FFUR/SLX 2007 but it seems to be like modern warfare and I don't really want that at the moment. I'd like to keep the '85 stuff. I also downloaded FFUR 2005 because I read somewhere else that it was a very good version but now I see the 2008 edition is out so my question is this: which one offers the best experience? like not too many bugs and that you're still able to play through the whole campaign. Thanks in advance!

Franz_von_Humboldt 0 Posted February 14, 2009 Ok I installed FFUR 85 2008 Edition and so far it's good but whenever I get hit badly and I'm laying on the ground bleeding myself to death the screens goes black for a moment, then back to the action and this goes on and on until a medic heals my wounds. I'm not quite sure if this is on purpose or some kind of weird bug.
