[MCY] MercenaryS -GAY BAR- goes offline

One of the main PvP servers running in ArmA is going down tonight. The MercenaryS clan is playing Call of Duty 4 more than Armed Assault and keeping the Gay Bar open is not worth the money anymore. Many challenging battles and many amusing carnages were witnessed at the Gay Bar and it served as a very active testing field for most of the CTF and DM maps you can see on the game list today and tomorrow.

Frantic has pretty much stopped making maps and Fleischtorpedo was probably the last MCY-made CTF map. I'm still going to finish some projects such as a new DM collection hopefully before X-mas but I'll have to see where to conduct public testing for unfinished maps.

Well, the foolish and childish punch and judy-show on the MercenaryS-gay-bar was always needless IMO.

And therefor it fits when the not so brainy people goes CoD4-Arcade. Anyway, good luck and have ... "fun".

What are you trying to tell us here? Did we do something wrong to you or do you just hate the PvP side of the game as a whole including its players?

I wouldn`t say CoD4 is a better game, its diffrent. Small maps, more fighting just like hexenkessel or fleischtorpedo all the time.  

I had a lot of fun on our MCY Gay Bar the last year but being admin on the server was harder from week to week.  

In the last weeks it wasn`t fun anymore cause of all this cheater scum

So maybe if ArmA 2 comes out we will put on a new Gay Bar again

yeah...its a sad story with ArmA.

However we had a lot of fun on the Gay Bar with it.

im looking forward to ArmAII and till it comes out im enjoying CoD4!

Its a bar full of gays which you only want to enter with some specific securtiy measure.

What that means for the Arma community I leave to your imagination

The Gay Bar is a reference to the philosophy of MCY and that you always have to watch your six in the game. Many unwary (mainly co-op) players couldn't recognize their rear ends after receiving MCY treatment at the Gay Bar.

I dont buy many games, but COD4 is worth every penny. It takes about 3 seconds to load up, 1 second to pick the server, max 10 seconds to join in and play.

The "biggest" problem is to pick one of many THOUSANDS of servers to play on.

Also, it is incredibly smooth, well made and runs amazingly well with very high frame rates (I get about 90 with all max out). Photo-realistic graphics. I can go on and on....

I only wish the maps were larger, the game is very fast paced. Very very addictive, extremally well made game.

but unfortunately i COD4 only really is played by one generation of FPS players and that is the point and click players i.e. Counter strike etc

But on topic, sad to see a good arma server go

Only tried CoD2...I feelt like a scripted rabbit running around in a little box, shooting at endless pup-up targets, all wrapped in a Hollywood-mystery fog. Maybe MP would have been better...

Dont blame them shuting there arma server down and playing another game. arma sucks and seems its dieing already. All you see is evo evo and evo and maybe a server or 2 runing berzerk maps. pretty boring really
