Chest pouches should be worn around the chest and not the waist.

Anyways, those are a Chicom model chest pouch.

I think suspenders and the standard three mag and four stripper clip belt pouch would be correct for the peroid.

Tantal's collectors source is a good place to find peroid info.  Check the links at the top of the page for mor einfo.

While I may agree with you, here are some reference pics to show that they are not really that far off. They could be tweaked, but it's more than just moving some model parts to fix it. Also they are in the same spot as the ARMA chest webbing which was kept as default.

The Yanks are looking good - they just need to turn the USMC helmet into a PASGT and they'll be right on, from what I can see.

I don't know who's writing this blog but it doesn't sound like the James Gastovski I'm used to know.

Maybe his old comrades would enjoy(???) combat pictures of their own war? Of course, they could be interested but not enjoyed.

"Crazy Emotions"? About a war? Probably sad emotions...

And what about "young men still fighting on Malden"?

Wasn't it peaceful a few weeks ago when he was wandering around there? And why would they be fighting with gear of 1985 today?

Is his English that bad or is mine?

You'd better stick to the disillusioned character and opinions about war that James has shown throughout the games.

Now he sounds like a player giggling about new fluffy blood effects and trendy camo patterns.

Do you remeber what effect the bad story telling of the ArmA campaign had in the end?

Im still up for helping but last time i was only asked to skin vehicles which is bejond my skills sad_o.gif

RHS Coldwar Marines ( OFP Style )

Looks bit detailless but hey the thing he wears is a pocket ( well no visible ones ) less KLMK oversuit.

If i had the ArmA models i sure could make them look better ( for CWR maybe? )

@Wiciu

These are VDV with a great looking camo, however i may be wrong but i think KLMK and KZS/M were the choices of 85 and the one they wear came in the late 80s?

May be wrong though.

Seems like KZS to me but youre partly right cause Sumrak suits have a modernized KZS design.

If it is KZS then it shouldnt have pockets at all and a rougher material as these are thin net like oversuits that are worn over the classic khaki 6 pockets uniform of the mid 80s.

I think the only versions with pockets in normal 6 pocket cut were made for the border guards.

I also have to correct myself, from what i read the KZS suits were already availeable in mid 80s even if KLMK was lot more common.

Good example pic

The camos are from reference material in the book

Osprey-Elite-012-Inside the Soviet Army Today (80's)

And other various pics correct or not I do not know, but I knew once pics came out I would know in a few seconds if they were wrong wink_o.gif I have hundreds of reference images but nailing down the exact item to make sure it's 85 or older isn't easy if you haven't spent years studying soviet uni's and equipment unless it's marked as such.

The camo was tweaked to work as actual camo on Malden, but to not cause an uproar that will be fixed to be accurate rather than usable.

It will stay a 2 piece but the hood will be added as time allows as I had planned to add it once I had time.

Patches? Now those I have no idea about.

As much as this might offend some of you, I'd have paid for CWR too. smile_o.gif

Maybe the cwr-critics should go into the CWR thread, and leave this thread about the blog etc?

I always take these coldwar era western books with a grain of salt.

Russians so far told me to go with KLMK and bit KZS but keep the vdv camo as its really good looking.

Russian and soviet gear isa special story somehow, everything exists in several versions, however the KZS suits with 6 pocket cut are indeed a rare thing and your second sample also just shows the net fabric oversuit.

Yeah, I know, but the odd thing is that it has cargo pockets on the pants. I know this is a re-enactor setup, so it's hard to know if it is accurate or not as I swear I've seen quite a few different combinations of uniforms, some maybe custom so I just went with what I found and what would be the easiest to finish and not have to remodel and reuvmap so much. Eh, things will change once I get time to be more typical, so no more comments out of me, just trying to show and justify why things are they way they are atm.
