sparky 0 Posted August 21, 2007 Tanks shouldn't have refelection, so we try to minimise the reflection, but you can see that there is specular maps cause of the fact that the side of the leo is bumping, also if you see the leo, from in front you'll see a small metal change. an other spot where you can see light changing is the blue-white cross on the turret. Blue_Flight 0 Posted August 21, 2007 an other spot where you can see light changing is the blue-white cross on the turret. That´s right mate. I was only wondered because the BIS tanks got quite "heavy" reflections
ravendk 25 Posted August 21, 2007 Leo 1A4Sorry one shoot from T-72 and crew ejects? Give this Leo more armor and accuracy. I have to agree. Leo 1's (alltho danish variants) were in bosnia in the 94 and they really kicked ass. Operation "Hooligan-bashing" – Danish Tanks at War But great job sofar! sparky 0 Posted August 21, 2007 Ok, i just test it. And in fact i test a M1A1 vs T72, it happened exactly the same. one shot, and guys started to run over. I don't know why, maybe the D-81 ammo type, is too lethal, or generally all armor need a bit upgrade. We did our leopard armor, and hitpoint values based on something below M1A1. so if you think the Leo1A4 is somehow same class with T-72 i find it quite fair. But i'll look deeper into it... ricoadf 0 Posted August 21, 2007 Like it or not, a T-72 round would go in 1 side of a Leopard 1 and come straight out the other. Its got paper thin armour (in tank terms) and is the same era as the Centurion. Heck even a Tiger tank from WW2 could punch a hole through the Leopard 1. Reason being is that it is essentially a gun tank, a portable gun turret. With armour no more then 70 mm thick, you don't want to take on a modern MBT alone if you value your life. P.S. Please note I do like Leopard 1's, but the hard fact is that they are basically a light tank today, the only useful thing is that the gun can still take on modern tanks, if it gets the first shot off. froggyluv 2135 Posted August 21, 2007 I'm liking these tanks! Question: Aren't Heat rounds supposed to have a certain level of splash damage? It seems you have to hit the enemy directly on the nose and if your a little off there'e no damage/shockwave/concussion etc...
-HAC-_mainframe 0 Posted August 21, 2007 Yes I tested the damage system too and you are right. But I did also the opposite and I noticed the following. When I got Leo and shoot a HEAT shell at a T72 the exact same thing happened. (any angle just to be sure). Both tanks were heavy damaged but in fact operational. So i don't know if this is a bug of our addon or something BIS should look at. I also asked our "HAC military advisers" which I deeply respect because this is their regular work and they respond. "if you take a direct sabot hit form an AT shell then there are two possibilities. 1)the shell will bounce on tank exterior armor with out exploding resulting only to a bump, a scratch or loose weel 2)the shell will penetrate the external armor exploding inside the crew compartment...with devastating results to the crew" So now I am confused.Which would be the best solution to the problem above, realism or incrice on Leo armor? Waiting for your oppinion
-HAC-_mainframe 0 Posted August 21, 2007 I'm liking these tanks! Question: Aren't Heat rounds supposed to have a certain level of splash damage? It seems you have to hit the enemy directly on the nose and if your a little off there'e no damage/shockwave/concussion etc... No our information are that HEAT rounds are the anti tank shell LEO is using and APDS are the high explosive. So we design them this way.
ricoadf 0 Posted August 21, 2007 Sabot rounds if you check that site, you will see the APFSDS-T round is a kinetic Energy shot (like all Sabot rounds). As such they do not explode, they use the kinetic energy, check this site out as to how it works: How it works Quote from the site: "The sub-projectile's hyper-velocity ensures that it strikes its target with devastating impact. By using very dense materials in the sub-projectile the stored kinetic energy is magnified greatly. The terminal effect of the sub-projectile striking the target sees huge kinetic energy release. In miliseconds the sub-projectile punches through the target armour, instantaneously generating massive heat and pressure. As the long rod penetrator enters the vehicle friction with the armour plate creates burning incandescent spall which sprays the interior. The burning spall has an explosive effect." So the round doesn't explode, but it does have an explosive 'effect'. HEAT rounds are also AT round (High Explosive Anti-Tank) but today they are only on portable missiles (like the Javelin Launcher) or used as anti infantry (due to the splash effect). Either way, a Leopard tank would be torn apart if hit by either HEAT or Sabot rounds from any modern tank. It doesn't have the armour to defend itself. MehMan 0 Posted August 21, 2007 Very nice work! I'm having great fun with these. Love the smoke screen.
froggyluv 2135 Posted August 21, 2007 Sorry I should have been more clear- I meant against soft targets/infantry. I thought I remembered Heat having infantry splash damage in OFP
Connor.SG-1 0 Posted August 21, 2007 Good job for you mod, does missions exist for this mod ?
-HAC-_mainframe 0 Posted August 21, 2007 Axa….. This is truly great infos you gave us here. Well as I told in my previous post we thought the opposite. So APDS stands for Armour-piercing discarding sabot (APDS) And HEAT stands for high explosive Anti Tank. Ok that’s easy to correct we will rename-swap the displayed name on the configs in our next version. Maybe APDS-T for antitank shells and HEAT for dual purpose ammunition. Just to be accurate and as close to real life as we can be. Connor.SG-1 we have some missions ready but we didn’t include them on this release. We will give them when the hole pack is complete. Until then….hold tight and check your six Thanks again for your replays and for trying our Addons, much appreciate your comments as they are helping as to give the best results. xira 0 Posted August 21, 2007 great work mate, keep it up .. really nice addon.. but well i found some prblems, like the MG3_Static excist with no ammo any comment?
sparky 0 Posted August 21, 2007 @Xira The problem already solved as and other minor bugs. so wait a bit for the next update.
Αplion 1122 Posted August 21, 2007 Nice textured units I would love to see turkish units released so i can have a little war then  . Maybe I can do something about this ....... but ....... no Turkey is not an enemy (we are alies I believe) and for any Turkish addons, you have to ask Turks
br3net 0 Posted August 24, 2007 I’m really impressed …very nice work with both tanks, especially Leopard goodies. Some problems found true, but I think the guys in the previous posts covered all off them. Do you plan to release a hot fix? Oo about the *.rpt I also notice the errors in mine too, but I thing that all are just warnings nothing serious. For me the only problem is creating a small delay when loading a mission which include the addon units so I don’t understand the complaining?? Some are easy to fix too, I thing you have forgotten one or two questionmarks in subclasses or something. Fix them and all will be happy. ps//….. I was messing around with your destruction system…result…I got killed by a flying wheel or ramp. Very very funny and realistic. Keep them coming
gL33k 0 Posted August 26, 2007 it seem i have a bug with leopard comportement.even in danger mode , the 3 crewmember are "turned out" and so , don't fire at all. The damage model is ABSOLUTLY wonderfull. seeing all these mechanical piece fly in the air then hit ground, sometime continuing the roll on the ground. really, really nice additions. Great works guys
-HAC-_mainframe 0 Posted August 26, 2007 Well thanks both for your comments, especially about the destruction system as we had put much effort on making it as random as we could. We believe that everything destroyed – dies on the battlefield stays on the battlefield and that even a screw must have it’s physics. That’s why we are still trying to upgrade it to be more random with more custom pieces and effects. Also the problems reported above had been already fixed, but we will not release a hotfix as we believe they are not critical bugs. So plan is to update these units in our 2 release pack together with the new stuff we are working on. gL33k If the crew is turn out then that’s why there are not firing but about the state of the crew we couldn’t reproduce the bug you described above. I think I had the same problem in one of my MP missions but it was with a BMP. If you can give me more details on what you did maybe I find out what is going on. Thanks again for your replays and for trying our Addons, much appreciate your comments as they are helping as to give the best results.
Kirq 0 Posted August 26, 2007 Huge addon, great work. Lots of new content, all high quality. Ive just tested sniper with hecate II, its a monter ! I like decail effect but isnt it a bit to much ? This rifle takes out light vehicles with one shot, very impresive !
sparky 0 Posted August 26, 2007 @Kirg. Well my friend i believe you have confused the addon threads hecate 2 is from Switzerland Mod not HWM.
GAU-8 vs Life 0 Posted August 26, 2007 Hehe! He must have a hard time now when it's christmas around here and the mods & addons pop up close to each other! Â But he struck one thing there: which fifty cal truck killer does the armed forces of Greece use? Other sniper rifles? SMGs? LMGs? Anyway, if you make a new MG3 I will be happy enough. Try to give the static version some recoil (not upward movement but make it shake a bit when fired) Â
MehMan 0 Posted August 26, 2007 Does the smoke screen work like it should? I'm not sure if it's on my end or something else, but I was waiting in an ambush for some tanks, camoed up and I spotted them, fired a shot but missed and fired up some smoke and when I was reversing and doing manvoures to reach cover(still behind the smoke) I got destroyed by two T-72s.
sparky 0 Posted August 26, 2007 Greece uses the barret .50 cal. All the feature changes and minor bug fixes have already been made. But we are not going to release it yet. Unfortunately i'm not sure if we can add recoil to the static mg3 since it works like a static weapon (M2). @Mechgman. Both smoke screen and camo net, are features that we'll continue to develope , so we'll continue improving them. As far as the smoke, normal if the AI can't see you behind any smoke then it should work, but if AI can see you behind any smoke then this smoke can't help you against the AI. This is up to how the smokes (generally) interacts to the AI, basically not smokes but any particle effect.
