MP 0 Posted February 14, 2002 Just played it and well... Oh God!. I played ambush and Jesus H Christ, I was scared shitless to move at one point. God oh God oh God... Well done Satchel. I'd shake your hand if I could...
RedRogue 0 Posted February 14, 2002 Shaatan I think I've found that I ONLY get this problem with the rain sound in the SP mission Revenge. Odd? Although I have ran across something else. Â After playing thru the campaign again for a while with the Sound Pack installed and noticing my AIs now where crap shots with the LAW (Odd they have always been snipers with those things before?). I ran a little test on desert island with me playing a LAW soilder and a few barrels apprx. 200 meters out. First with the Sound Pack in aiming straight (center of the sight) at the barrels. Of course it missed but I ran to the center of the explosion and marked it against the hillside to the west. Then I uninstalled the Sound Pack completely and reran the test (I saved the mission in the editor) and fired at the barrels again at the same spot center of sight. Ran to the explosion and marked it again to the west. After rerunning this several times over it was apparent that the LAW with the Sound Pack installed was landing 30-50m short compared to the soundpack uninstalled. Now since the config.bin file is unreadable in any editor I have I do not know if it is editable, but I do remember if I'm not mistaken that someone said to edit the config file you would have to use the one from the demo or earlier version correct? Which was a config.cpp correct? Â It appeared that the LAW with the soundpack installed had a shorter time of thrust (i.e. how long till the rocket exhausted its fuel) and began dropping earlier that without the soundpack installed. WKK Gimbal 0 Posted February 14, 2002 Satchel, Reinstalling my soundcard made it work properly again. I'm unaware if the screwed up sound was due to the sound pack or a mere coincidence, however I'm not gonna push my luck and try installing it again. I don't hope my outrage was interpreted as a personal attack - it was in no way meant to be so - I was simply furious as my working comp turned into a non-working comp after downloading and installing something. cheers
cynegetic 0 Posted February 14, 2002 Love the sounds!! The Law does drop noticably. Any one getting texture tearing from this? Running a gforce2 and now looks like my buddies radeon
Rampe 0 Posted February 14, 2002 Just love the Soundpack. However, I ran into some problems. When playing Co-op The Beach, the explosions (artillery) couldn't be heard. It was little strange since the whole beach was exploding and it was pretty much quiet. When throwing grenades or launching LAW, there was explosions (kinda low and faint tho. Could be a lot louder). I have SB Live, EAX and HA disabled. Other than that, all sounds worked just fine and are EXTREMELY cool :-) Would be great if you could adjust the volume of sound effects and speech separately... Nice work!
Unl33t 0 Posted February 14, 2002 Just downloading this pack now... 3 minutes left at 38kb\sec Thanks for this Satchel, i will report any critical bugs , Like i did last time, when the name had the little 3 in it, that failed to work on my PC.
KingN 251 Posted February 14, 2002 This soundpack really really kicks ass!! All the realistic explosions, blasts, thumbs and gunfires gives a real feeling for the battle. Good work satchel! But the ak and the m16 sounds doesn't impress me so much. But it's only my opinion and they are still better than the original ones.
Sgt Kabukiman 0 Posted February 14, 2002 @Unl33t: Right now we have some MP-related Problems, maybe you can help us sorting them out! When Server AND Client have the soundmod installed, you cannot use vehicles with 2 or more people. Only one may sit in a vehicle!
anzacmick 0 Posted February 14, 2002 gday all, satchel, satchel, satchel.................. got to say mate...what a pack.. well sourced sounds and a new ambience to the battlefield, thougroughly good work son. [shakes hand and gives schooner of beer] Ive used your old post on a graphics setup for OFP page on my little OFP site for some time now and that page has had over 1500 hits to date alone! You know what your on about . Listen to constructive critisism to improve your mod and dont let impatientos and knuckleheads talk your mod down. Once again fine work cheers mick
Chan 1 Posted February 14, 2002 Hey Satchel, did you add the wounded sounds and the medic healing noises yet? I didn't seem to notice
PitViper 0 Posted February 14, 2002 Good job on the sounds. My comments: The AK, M16, and M21 could use some improvement. There is no kick or base response on the them (m16 mostly). its all higher pitch. I couldn't hear the heavy breathing. Explosions could be a bit louder. I found myself inching up the effects volume compared to the the older sets (Jim's specifically). I really liked the new sounds when you are in the volume adjustment screen, particularly the jody calling I'll post more as I play it more.
Sgt Kabukiman 0 Posted February 14, 2002 Well, at least when you're healing on a Medic-113 (or BMP) you hear screams.....
theavonlady 2 Posted February 14, 2002 I just installed this and played the Ambush SP mission and some Red Hammer missions. This is great! I hope, Satchel, that you'll investigate all these reports of problems or changes in weapons attributes and already begin working on version 2. My only personal dislike is the modified gun reticule for the M16 and Kalashnikov. It's too good. I find it to easy to aim more accurately now. To me, it's a detraction to OFP's original reticule, which was a good compromise, I think, between realism and the ability to aim in 1st person view without ironsites. I would like to see the original reticule returned.
Noose_ITO 0 Posted February 14, 2002 Good work Satchel ! Very nice sounds. I hoped that you have made all sound files in separate folder and not packed together. That would make changeing sounds a lot easier for us. Some wishes. I hope that you change cannon rounds flying sound to different one. Now it is short whistle sound. It makes in coming round sound funny. Here is a sample: http://members.staroffice.com/www/Noose_ITO/observer.mp3 In this sample I'm targetter for artillery (multiple M60 tanks) and ordering one round to target. Target is ~150m front of me and M60 tank is about 3km to right. Listen that single round closing. Funny? Clip is shortened a bit from middle. Allso I hope that you make some echo for those tank coax guns as mentioned before. Reason is that 90% of my playingtime I hear those guns outside anyway  . They sound bit odd now from outside. It would be much less wrong to hear some echo from inside because engine sound is blocking some of that anyway. Keep up good work!
Satchel 0 Posted February 14, 2002 Really great input and resonance guys (and girls), building upon the feedback here´s a quick update for Dynamic Range, it fixes: <ul> [*]Missiles/ Rockets falling short, AI had difficulties to hit the target [*]AI used a slower (non standard) ROF for machineguns [*]Rain environment sound was way to loud on Malden island Download: Bugfix 1 (without custom Reticule) Bugfix 1 (with custom Reticule) To install simply unzip the config.cpp into your Flashpoint/BIN folder and let the old config.cpp be overwritten. Someone reported there are issues getting in vehicles if the Host runs a Server with the package, more specific only 1 person can embark a vehicle, for all others there seems to be no action menu with according "get in" option. I´m on this now, further updates will follow. Friday-Sunday i´m not available, so i´m looking forward to get as much as possible done today.
Sgt Kabukiman 0 Posted February 14, 2002 Satchel, MP is okay, it was the MAP which was not okay! We tested it again on another Map and we can get into vehicles with LOTS of people, no problems! GREAT work, Stachel!
shataan 1 Posted February 14, 2002 I take it one of the 2 files above changes the reticle back to the stock version? I like the new one, so I should pick the bug fix with the custom reticle right? thx

SpaceAlex 0 Posted February 14, 2002 Everything is working fine for me but i don't like soem sounds. M60, T72, T55 engine saund is like mustang's engine sound. (Original T72, M60 engine sounds are better. The only problem with tham is that they're squeaking too much.) Abrams and T80 engine voice is like mopeds sound. Sabot sound sounds very realistic but the engine doesn't sound realistic. Please fix this. I would love to have original crossair. The new one is too big. M16 and AK sounds aren't realistic. M16 original game sound sounds more realistic. Almoust like in the real life, but your M16 is too weak. Some sounds are too weak and some are too loud. I'm playing with original sounds but i'm testing yours. I like the new cobra sound too. Very nice. I was just asking myself. Why BIS didn't make more realistic sounds for the game. (Sabot, some choppers, some guns like HK (Bizon sound is much better, Hk is like mouse click)...) Well, if BIS didn't satchel will. I hope. Fix certain things satchel and i promise you i'll play with the new sounds. Â Â

It also could be you have playback problems, therefore thinking the sounds are not appropiate. If you don´t like these sounds (for what reason ever), don´t use the soundpack if you can´t live with them, because these special sounds are for sure not going to be changed, i would be mad if i did, lol. Adviss 0 Posted February 14, 2002 nuts! while your new bug fix does fix the ai machine gun rof problems and the law bug, it does add one new one: i cant hear the rain at all. On any island. I guess I was the only one hear that didnt mind the loud rain on malden, It kinda added atmosphere. Anyone else getting this? I disabled HW accel, to no avail. Everything else=perfect. S_Z 0 Posted February 14, 2002 The best tank sounds I have heard in a game/simulator must be from Steel Beasts…the sound in that tank sim is so great(and so is the game)… The tank(s) will sound different depending on if you play as a gunner or a TC button-up or if you play as a TC unbuttoned. But I don’t think its fair to compare satchels sound pack with the sounds in SB… You cant have that many sounds for one vehicle in OFP as you can in SB I believe. I think you did a great job with the tank sounds!
SpaceAlex 0 Posted February 14, 2002 Steel beast graphic sucks big time and this game is not enjoyable because of this. I agree about the sounds. Tanks sounds are great in SB. I didn't say that all the sounds in the tanks are bad and i belive that abrams engine sound is different. I know its sound, but if u don't wanna change or can't change it than... OK. Â
S_Z 0 Posted February 14, 2002 Graphic is NOT everything.. if it was the case I would play GR instead of OFP The graphic in SB works great...it doesn’t look too good but tell me if you know any good looking engine that supports visual range up to 5000 meters  That is pretty important in a tank sim...SB is THE best and most realistic tank sim ever and will be until SB2 is released…it's a GREAT game/simulator. Sorry…this has nothing to do with this thread but I don’t like it when people put graphic before gameplay
munger 25 Posted February 14, 2002 I have the same problem as Adviss now; can't hear the rain at all. Maybe the balance needs tweaking? Apart from that, it really is a great pack. Well done mate!
