SHWiiNG 0 Posted May 17, 2007 Hello chammy, awesome work, this will go nicely beside my FDF and Mod war sounds, any idea of the release, oh and does this change some of the sounds in FDF or all of them?
chammy 7 Posted May 17, 2007 Nah not at all, not sure how they would co-inside with each other but using the one I am finishing may not even affect any other sound thingy you have. The samples I make might not even show up, although, they could, we'd just have to chek, btw, what is vanila? I've been hearing that alot lately.
Yeb 0 Posted May 17, 2007 Vanilla means the armed assault version (overall a game version) without any addons: otherwise, it means the basic armed assault.
Kenbow 0 Posted May 18, 2007 "vanilla" means the default files for the game, like sounds for example. So the "vanilla" Arma is Arma straight out the box with no add-ons. Another example, is to say "vanilla" Arma sounds, which means the default sounds that come with the game. Vanilla= plain with no flavor. Get the meaning? Kenbow 0 Posted May 18, 2007 Here's a little update on my sound replacement so far, some sounds, Im trying to decide which ones I'm going to stick to or chose to use. Â There's a clip in there with the Harrier wav changed. I might as well change all the vehicle and aircraft sound also.ArmA sound replacement progress. The sounds are great. Cant wait to see the updated FDF Sound version. The one thing I would definately like to see different in the updated version is making the vehicle sounds louder then in the FDF Sound Mod 1.0. The vehicle engine sounds are sooo quiet once you get more then 20 meters away from them.
SHWiiNG 0 Posted May 20, 2007 ive heard good things about the new 1.07b (Beta) patch, so i was wondering is the FDF sound mod compatible in its current state, ive read numberous comments, people asking for help and other replying to them, so is this compatible? -dead- 1 Posted May 21, 2007 ive heard good things about the new 1.07b (Beta) patch, so i was wondering is the FDF sound mod compatible in its current state, ive read numberous comments, people asking for help and other replying to them, so is this compatible? Yes and no. On the Yes tip: It works with 1.07b to some extent, and it doesn't stuff the beta in any way. So it's *sort of* compatible. On the No tip: Compared to using it with 1.05, some sounds have changed back to default BiS ArmA sounds (eg m16a2 still uses the FDF_sounds, m16a4 now uses the BiS sounds), I guess due to being renamed in 1.07b or something. Also the burst mode sounds like 4 shots instead of 3. On balance, I reckon the bits that still do work make it worth using the semi-working mod while the FDF guys fix it so it plays nice with 1.07. Try it and see if you can live with the glitches.
Opticalsnare 12 Posted May 22, 2007 Good soundpack man, i been playing with this for awhile now its pretty awesome, the explosions sound good.
Kenbow 0 Posted May 26, 2007 How is the revised FDF Sounds mod coming along? Is there an expected release date yet? I have been trying over sound mods that are compatible with 1.07b, but I still hoping for the new FDF version. Sorry if asking about a release date is taboo. geloxo 2 Posted May 26, 2007 Very good mod BIS should seriously think about a sound improvement in the game engine to be at the same technical level as other shooter games Cheers.
LoFFeN 0 Posted May 26, 2007 Good soundmod, FDF Team. Much better sounding than the standard BIS sounds. Will there be any major soundchanges in the upcoming patch, btw? Just wondering.
l mandrake 9 Posted May 27, 2007 Anyone got this working with 1.07beta (fix)? I can run it with 1.05 but when i try to run 1.07b I get 2 error messages: 'No Entry 'bin\config.bin.Controllerschemes' and 'Error compiling pixel shader PSSpecularAlpha' Great sounds btw - I love the grenades. Maybe a bit too much reverb on the AK74 though

l mandrake 9 Posted May 27, 2007 I am using the correct shortcut! Exactly as you have written BTW I am using Kegetys' ARMA launcher..... EDIT: I tried creating my own shortcut to the beta, adding the line -mod=FDF_Sounds , now ARMA starts with the message ''Addon 'Desert' requires addon 'CARoads'' and I get a CTD straight from the main menu before I can do anything! Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Any idea what I am doing wrong? Mandrake, I just inserted the 2 FDF_Sound PBO files directly into the /Arma/beta/Addons folder. THen use the BETA shortcut to launch. It seems to work fine for me that way. I was also getting CTD when I tryed to use it like a regular mod, but it works great for me now.
