Haven't updated my Vilas pack lately. Just before the summer holidays I updated at least twice a week so I'm kinda tired of doing that but now there seems to happen bigger things faster  smile_o.gif .

Soviet sniper:

Darn! I was on my way to spearhead the surprise attack that would start WWIII today. Oh well, I guess I have some spare time next weekend, will it be okay by then?

US soldier:

Well, while I'm not supposed to know exactly when we leave, I'm pretty sure we're gone by... let's see... Yeah, by Wendsday next week.

Soviet sniper:

It'll do. I'm free again next Saturday so I'll come over and try pick off your commander around noon then, will that be allright for you?

US soldier:

No problem. We'll be running ordinary base duty by then so anytime after breakfast will be just fine. You see that man who just drove by? That's our colonel.

Soviet sniper:

That guy? I always pictured him a bit taller. Thanks. I have to go now. Managed to get a pirate satellite dish working and Dallas runs in about two hours. Nice, but you westerners sure got a lot of commercials. How do you manage to buy so much crap all during one liftime? I mean it takes my wife a whole day to just get some milk and a loaf of bread!

US soldier:

We don't. And our goverments think that's our third biggest problem after the prospect of Soviet invasion of Europe and rising oil prices.

Soviet sniper:

Heavy... Awright. See you by Saturday. Bye!

US soldier:

By Saturday then. Bye!

about this weapons not made by me:

RHS SVD has errors in mapping of handgrip :/

MP5 shown above is model from 1995 or later :P

I made proper 1985 MP-5 model "S-E-F" receiver :]

show with real MP-5

i also made new SVD basing on BIS model, but updated (everyone who knows this BIS model knows that receiver is one part, so animation of bolt is impossible in BIS model and weapon is in safe mode)

also RPG 7 will get PSO-7

comparision of BIS SVD with one-part receiver model with updated model, now it has receiver with cuts, bolt animated, weapon is not in safe position like in game wink_o.gif and new muzzle flash hider

and start to work on PSO-7 for RPG smile_o.gif

How is it now?

Texture made brighter and desaturated as opposed to vivid colors shown above by NSXr

additionally I am taking earlier community suggestions into account and have already removed the US flag from the shoulders. Cat-eyes on the back of the helmet will disappear as well. Apart fropm that some very minor changes will be done

Nearly perfect, only the dark parts of the camo should be darker, the other colors seems to be ok so far. smile_o.gif

Edit: It could be ok now, the influence of the light has an big impact. Had to see this ingame.

Nice work on PGO-7V and, finally, normal SVD. I vish it would have RHS textures though... whistle.gif Btw will you replace SVD's crappy PSO-1 sight with one installed on vanilla AK74?

Very nice weapons, only things im no friend of are the far too strong shine effect and that we reuse the BIS body texture for all the AKs, bit odd if even the fresh weapons are already completely scratched.

Possibly we can find some mix with rhs textures especially on the SVD and the AK handguards.

Also id recommend the PSO model and textures from our pack for it.

What badges are the US soldiers wearing?

At the moment none; no US flags, no unit badges. Only patches over the chest pockets of the BDU, which we discussed on page 70 wink_o.gif

I am going to implement the suggestions made there by you soon as the woodland itself is being completely reworked this very second; or to be precise - it will be replaced with a more fitting pattern that ressembles M81 more than the current one.

I am testing the first results right now.

Correction, mate - It's PGO (pritsel granotometnyi optycheskyi), not PSO.  wink_o.gif Really the sexiest grenade launcher ever made.

i found another dissapointment of ARMA here :/

"modelspecial" of grenadelauncher (loaded/empty) is taken by engine from "magazine" defnitions, no matter of "weapon" class definitions

so...

so it causes that there can be NO one magazine "PGO7V" to use in all launchers

if player would like to rearm than... scope is lost because "modelspecial" will be used from other launcher, for example vanila RPG-7V

Those pouches (MOLLE) on the right guy in the lower pic are not preriod correct... neither is the acog, wich has a picatinny rail mount ontop of an m16a2 receiver carryhandle.

ACOG wasnt around until recent years and picatinny rails werent around until the late 90's..

Just a quick sidenote from me here...

My PC suffered from a rapid power spike last night; had to format the main partition...

Will take some time to recover; lost some of the wips but everything of any value has been shared with / sent to Vilas so Project'85 should not suffer..

Yet; no Photoshop, no plugins, no ArmA atm..

Shall be back on my feet sometime next week (we'll see...)

Stop overediting the screenshots so much?

The weapons are so dark that you can`t see that much whistle.gif  

I suggest natural screenshots is the best way to promote the project.

I do only slight contrast correction in PS, but that's hard to call "so much". SVD's metal body is dark, because I use old RHS texture replacement for vanilla SLA weapons, that resemble actual weapons' look much better.

That's how real SVD should look like:

I guess you like old silver'n'shiny vanilla textures? Well, I'm definitely not fan of them.

Well, at least here updated KZM, bandana, APS holster and cap textures absolutely clearly visible. Updated doesn't mean completely new look. wink_o.gif

There're many suggestions from many sides in this point. wink_o.gif From "natural and undedited" battle-art to vivid glamurous pics. I try to hold somewhere in the golden middle. At least as I stated I don't edit pics "that much".

When I reverse your edited screenies it takes a bit longer as slightly a bit of contrast wink_o.gif

But then everyone complains that you don't know how to make good screenshots when you do natural ones. I know I always get complaints when I do natural pics for my mod.

At any rate, I can tell quite clearly that the textures kick ass.

Also PLEASE NO VANILLA-SILVER SVD rifles. Shiny rifles= dead sniper. I like the nice dark SVD textures. Thats the way a sniper rifle should look....not shiny.

And what is wrong with a natural(looking) screenshot?

To stay between limitation of the 100kb, natural lightning and it`s now 800x600 + poorly saved in jpg.

Still it looks nice I think .....don`t you think?

Now imagine I had the addons and post a promo screenie in lets say 1280x1024...would be nice looking so natural.
