Had enough of copy protection now.

I just installed v1.05 update and it asked me to reactivate my key...type in the details and bang...

Activation Failed

The Activation Code has already been used in a successful activation or purchase. It can not be used again. Please e-mail support@softwrap.com

Now I cannot play.

Trouble is, I have not had any hardware changes since I bought it, and I installed it once...so even if there is a limit, I am nowhere near it.

Downloaded the game from sprocket.

This is the 3rd game in as many months which refuses to play because of copy protection issues.

I've simply had enough of copy protection. I will not buy a game from now on which uses certain copy protection forms. The only one I support, is the serial key method. It is least intrusive and troublesome to me, whilst at the same time offering the same level of anti-piracy protection as the crap systems.

Sorry for the rant, but I really, really do get hacked off about not being able to play a game I've bought.

so i see in many countries there are problems with 1.05 :/

in Poland they gave newest version of StarForce :/

i gave much money to make my PC as silent as i can

all on passive cooling and after patch 1.05 i cannot use emulation

i have to put in DVDROM disc and it makes a lot of noise when it is inside

according to Polish law regulation - we have a right to one copy for personal use in case if orginal CD is broken

but this protection check doesn't allow to use copy

(if i start game many times - i test addons that i make) CD has scratches from using, stoping, starting in DVD ROM

what if my dics will be so scratched that disc check doesn't allow to start ARMA ?

will they change my disc for free - no, they don't :/

i heard that starforce sometimes hurt hardware ?

The law is the same here in the UK and in fact, it may even be a universal law.

There is alot of debate about it because software companies are keen to bring to justice the full weight of the law regarding copy protection, and yet the law to allow you, as the purchaser, one valid copy for your own use and safety of the product is being blocked by the same law to protect the software companies.

Anything with Starforce, Securom or activation keys will not get my money in the future...of that I can be absolutely sure.

Thank you. Google searches kept bringing me to reviews and back to amazon.

If I don't get response at all tomorrow, I'll kill the purchase on suckit... I mean sprocket, and get it from game.co. While waiting god knows how long for it to arrive.

This is heartbreaking. Never posted here before but, been waiting like everyone else for this. Guess I'll try and find the good mod sites and find out what people have done already w/ sound, add ons etc.

I have been stuggling with my Sprocket version since Dec 8th.  What a fool I am.

There is a running joke among my close group of fellow players.  

"They must be TRYING to fail."

If that is not true, wouldn't the alternative be even more desparing.

Look up in the top right corner.  Yes thats an add for the Sprocket version of Armed Assault.  Oh there are so many levels of wrong.  If you missed it, it says

"Buy and download now!"

Notice it dosen't say anything about being able to play!

Wow, I gotta add my name to the list of Sprocket problems. I finally got sick of trying to get my 505 hardcopy to work and decided to just purchase a copy off of sprocket.

Hey, no activation key. Wrote Sprocket. Twice. Wrote Softwrap. Three times.

Don't tell me it's because it's late in Europe. If they can get my money at 8pm, I can get support at 8pm.

Period.

Either close the shop at off times are staff it. Christ, imagine an automated shop with no staff in it. Sure, it's convenient and quick -- but just what the hell do you do when it takes your money and gives you no product for it?

It's now 2:23pm EST. I'm going to go to bed. If I don't have a CD Key / Activation key by the time I wake up, I'm killing the transaction. No refund request, nothing, just a straight call to Mastercard and some damage to their credit rating. Not to mention a call to any business bureaus in the area.

It's unfortunate that so many people let themselves get dicked around like this. If you took immediate punitive steps, companies would learn to respond much faster in the future.

And I say again: If they can get my money at this time, they can give me support at this time.

What was wrong with your 505 Hardcopy? I'm buying one myself because my Sprocket one doesn't want to activate itself anymore ...

My best guess is nothing and everything. My friend bought me my copy from a guy on eBay who had maybe ten or so. I'm guessing that before the guy put them up for sale, he popped open the shrinkwrap, slid the manuals out and took the CD Keys and sold them to a warez group for extra profit.

Ever since 1.05, I've been having massive copy protection problems with my game. CD Key errors, turning into a bird at random in games, Securom saying "a required security module could not be loaded", etc., etc.

I finally cracked the game to get around the securom problem but I will get the CD Key error totally at random, or turn into a bird. I really just wanted to play ArmA so I figured rather than wait for another 505 copy to ship from the UK (God knows how long that would take, or even if Canada Post would deliver it (that's a loooooooooooooooong story in itself)) I would download it. So I download it and now I've got no activation key.

Thirteen and a half hours later, and the only reply I got from Sprocket/IDEA was to register an account on the site and I could see all of my games purchases and information. A reply that I did register an account and could NOT see that has not yet received a reply.

Needless to say, I am grossly displeased.

I just can't get this to work. It constantly CTDs. I would like to get this fixed because I don't think you can get a refund for the downloaded version.

With the intent of getting results for those of us that are stuck with the game and want to get it fixed, please:

State your specific issue and include relevant information for diagnosis and trouble shooting recomendations.

I know we are pissed, I'm king-pissed-off, but my money is spent and I intend to get results.

My specific issue:

After installing the "Sprocket" fix patch, I was prompted to enter my refernece #.  It dose not say that I have no activations left, it says that it dose not recognize my ref#.

Softwrap resent my ref# so I could make sure I was entering it correctly, which I was.  The email reply from BIS was that my ref# was something different.  That one didn't work either.

I tried reinstalling but that didn't help. Ok now what?

Yes that works if you use the dedicated server launcher. I copied my 1.01 Sprocket/Czech w/English converter to our dedi box. When 1.02 came out...I had to patch my home version...then upload the massive sized file again to the dedi.

ArmA has came to a complete halt within our group thanks to Sprocket/Softwrap/Lack of support!!

The pc I installed my copy to, has used the "2" installs for 1.01 to 1.02 and the english converter. The server doesn't have it installed...just a copy.

I've built a new pc, and eventually will sell the pc that has ArmA on it, after a format and new install of windows.

I'm just taking this as a lesson learned from Sprocket.

I will just wait untill Atari gets me a hardcopy locally, if I don't loose interest by then..(actually looking for more games designed for DX-10).

Yes you can, basically you just take a copy of your ArmaFolder and put it on the server, then start the armaserver.exe

Like some others in this thread I was not sent my cd key email after purchasing the game.  Following the advice of others I sent emails to support@softwrap.com, support@idea-games.com and arma@idea-games.com.  I received a very polite reply with my cd key the very next day from support@idea-games.com.

Now obviously everyone involved would like to see the cd key emails arriving on time but the support team appears to be really on the ball.  My thanks to Mr. Bartik for his fast reply.

Well consider yourself lucky. Since saturday I have sent two emails to each which included my confirmation # and log file that d/led w/ the game. Have recieved nothing but automated responses.

I gave them the weekend, but expected some kind of response by Monday. So far I have jack shit, and jack just left town.

Pretty humiliating to come here and see the advertisement in the top right corner, while after spending my money I have a game I cannot install and play.

After reading your post I'll try again. I'm suprised none of the support staff are monitoring this thread. It's not like I'm the only one.

Update on my situation...

After being prevented from playing my sprocket download version after installing patch 1.05 and being told my activation details were linked to another successful install, I ranted and raved on various forums, whilst also writing to BIS at support@bistudio.com and Softwrap at support@softwrap.com on Saturday, both of them replied on the Monday informing me that I had 3 new activations left (whether that means a total of 3, or 6 I don't know).

So thank you...still an annoying occurence and one I won't be going through again.

I'm sick to death of copy protection being the bane of the legitimate PC gamer and I will buy no more games which use online, limited activations, Securom or Starforce...the latter being all but dead, thank god.

Thanks for the replys I emailed idea games haha even though its included in the international patch and the 505 version 1.05 patch atleast it states that in the readme. And on the arma wiki it says that the 1.05 dedicated server is included in the 1.05 version patch. Problem is that the version I got from sprocket is 1.05 and you cant patch it with either patch email from idea games below

Aha, so everyone who bought a 1.00 - 1.04 version of any kind, can upgrade to 1.05 and get the serverexe... but if you bought the 1.05 sprocketversion you are lost.... lol (sorry but it is funny in a tragicomic way)

Was finally sent my CD key from sprocket.  Put the CD key in game installed.  

Then it asked me for activation code.  Whaaa?

Tried CD key.  Nothing

Tried purchase reference #.  Nothing.

Put the email address in I used to buy the game as prompted.  Guess what... no information available for that email address.

Now, resending emails.  Are these people retarded?
