me neither. although i did see one which was well made into looking like a terrorist movie.. It was well made, realistic but it wasn't made to say look im a terrorist join in the fight ban me now.. :/ After all its just a game :/

No its a simulation.

Stuff happens for real, It can also happen in ARMA>OFP...

But you can actually learn things from when your convoy is stopped cuz the first humvee is Fked by a IED going off and the humvee wreck is blocking the road. And to just turn arround a 6 car convoy in the narrow streets of baghdad suburbs is not easy.

Think fast, what do you do...?

Same thing goes for IED attacks in missions. Its just like real life, you dont know when its happening. Ive jumped from my chair more then once with IED attacks on my convoy while playing OFP. With missions you havent made yourself you dont know where the F the IED are going to be. Suddenly the 1 minute drive turns into a huge firefight.

Its hard for some ppl to view those things sure I can understand that. But this could also be used as training tool. Interactive training.

Lets face it, the IED, VBIED, EFP's are modern day weapons used by "the enemy".

If i may interupt the discussion for some very bad and low budget YT vid i made. Hehehe, i was just play testing some scripting and fraps was running along. Had this Astral Projection tune lying around ... slammed it together. And even if this is below low budget, ArmA keeps me fascinated:)

If that happens then the mistake was made beforhand. The convoy chose the wrong route and didnt do their reconnaissance / advance guard properly. Also, most videos of Iraq show IED detonations on open suburb streets and not in thin narrow downtown.

Anyhow, the german Luchs has two drivers, one in the front, the other in the back and can drive like that with the same max speed.  This reduces the risk of being trapped in the line of fire. But the initial idea was something totally different. The luchs was made for reconaissance. Also, the Luchs model is outdated and is in the process of being replaced.

for the record as usuall all settings on v high any lag experienced was due to default bis destruction (might work on that tho). lowest 25fps so acceptble gonna try a mass variant test

oh and incase anyone was wondering

remeber there will be a default bis debris underneath the model , due to config so ai path will look better when thats in place

Deansbeano, I am a big fan of your work and have been following since the very first bricks back in OFP. I think what you have now is absolutely wonderful.

The hell with that. This is exactly what I had hoped for in regarding destruction of buildings in Arma (keeping in mind what's realistically possible for current computers). As far as constructive criticism is concerned (and I don't know if you even seeking it) more smoke to conceal the transition would be helpful ... pretty sure that's part of the destruct type though and I don't know if that's moddable. And another destruction stage (slightly less destroyed then the first) would also be cool. But I know each additional model adds to the complexity of the whole thing. But the fact that you were able to get 2 models going, means that the possibility for a 3rd exits.

In any case, I'd love to have this even in its current state. Nice work and keep it up.

BTW I know others are working on it, so you all share credit where credit is deserved, its just DB is kind of the frontman for your project.

well i dont seek praise but its always nice to have it ).

altho sometimes i say i work alone ,i reclon just about everyone on these forums has apart in this destruction thing of mine, be it by critique pushing me on or scripts i have used and modified or models built for me smile_o.gif

the biggest success is that i am dyslexic as fook and only managed to write my first config 1 week ago ,b4 that everything was called brseb turorial house ,firthouse inner etc lol.

i am sure that if someone with my hardships and lack of skill can achieve what i have ,especially with the shit i have had be it the chap who votes my videos one star on youtube , or the really silly/obvious coments , then anyone can do anything:)

The soldier on the right looked as if he had tourette's. Nice job on the destruction models. When I first saw the ones BIS did I was a bit disappointed. It's nice to see that you can now demolish an entire city block with an air strike and buildings don't crumple like paper but it seemed a bit boring and a sort of cop out to just have them go into the ground like a broken elevator and then have nothing left. I'm glad you're model now allows for further use of a building after it's been destroyed. I can see this being used in mods with resistance fighters or guerrilla style conflicts. Imagine cities reduced to this type of building and you're walking along not know which piece of rubble holds an rpg or a sniper.

One suggestion would be to have some kind of smoke or small flame, if possible, to sort of add to the ambiance. Just one model using this smoke effect would suffice. Imagine rolling up to a city that had just been blown to hell and all you see is smoke filling the skies and rubble on the ground. I believe that if you turned this into a full fledged mod like add on you might be able to create some impressive looking and possibly interactive destructed buildings. Possibly have some buildings with scripts or other structures that turn to similar models when they are in contact with explosives. Electrical wires that might spark, twisted water towers, who knows. Just a thought.

as for smoke and all other things , once i have figured a way to stop bis default animated smoke from the default building with ut touching the config. anything is poss. but at the moment , the initial default destruction smoke lags like a bitch, with or without any replacemant models .
