CameronMcDonald 146 Posted March 5, 2006 Have you ever hoped your ECP-enhanced soldiers would say something along the lines of: "Damn, it's cold." "Check it out." "Hard up for a date, aren't you?" "You had to laugh when that drink machine lit up." "Can I at least get a lift home this weekend?" "Scout ahead - we'll cover you! "I think we'll all sleep a little better tonight knowing it's locked up" or even... "Why are you such a prick?" "I could really go for a roast beef sandwich right now." Wait no longer! I'd like to present my first addon (finally) for the OFP, and specifically, ECP community! This little PBO adds around 500 extra sounds to the revolutionary DSAI system pioneered by the ECP team. All sounds are of high quality, compressed into oggs and hail from games of modern times. All the new voices are US, for now. Don't expect the game to become a shoddy FPS with ridiculously unrealistic voices though. My own nitpicking mind has selected on the most realistic voices to insert (ask Thunderbird84 of the FFUR team just how nitpicking my mind is). See the ReadMe for installation instructions - it's damn simple! Even that guy who recently claimed the search engine was crap could do it! (Probably...) NOTE: This is NOT AN OFFICIAL ECP ADDON. The ECP team has NOTHING to do with this release, and will spam you if you try and contact them. Instead, direct all complaints to me, and I'll try and help you out as best I can. DSAI Extension Hope you enjoy it. ReadMe addition - AVP II sounds are present too. KNOWN BUGS: For some unknown reason, units in combat are shouting "Grenade!" sometimes. I'm looking into it. belgerot 33 Posted March 5, 2006 Can't wait to give this a try, I really liked what ECP brought to the game so having a selection of all these extra phrases is a plus. Thanks again for putting the effort into making this possible.
hidden_spectre 2 Posted March 5, 2006 wow congrats on ur 1st official addon............downloadin "I could really go for a roast beef sandwich right now."
456820 0 Posted March 5, 2006 sounds cool This adds sounds rifht if so doesnt that mean editing the ECP script? if so would it be possible to add to BIS ofp without ECP? Cuase that would be great because sometimes my OFP lags a bit with ECP but most of the time it doesnt. Anyway downloading now Edit - WOW that was easy to install gonna play some ofp now
Nemesis6 0 Posted March 5, 2006 "You had to laugh when that drink machine lit up.""I think we'll all sleep a little better tonight knowing it's locked up" DOOM 3... hmm..
Shashman 0 Posted March 5, 2006 Wow this sounds really interesting and fresh Unfortunately, the site I have to download it from confuses me...How do I download it? lol EDIT: nvm, I got it :P
Shadow NX 1 Posted March 5, 2006 Testing out now, a hint for the Russian voices, try getting the demo of "Alfa - Antiterror". There was at least one demo where they didnt compress the files ( freaking 1,1Gigs demo! ) so everything is easy to grab. There are hundreds of great quality sentences in it. However i guess someone knowing russian might be good as advisor on what to use and what is not fitting. ---EDIT--- After a short test in the Mission Battlefields i find this adding a very nice atmosphere, very nice. I had one lil error, once i had a error popping up saying sound US_Aware not found or something.
Shashman 0 Posted March 5, 2006 Is there a way of implementing these in FFUR, as I don't use ECP all that much, just in MP when I can't use FFUR? That would make my day
CameronMcDonald 146 Posted March 5, 2006 Nah, it definitely requires the ECP core, I'm afraid mate - FFUR has no DSAI support, sadly. Glad you like it! I'll look into that error for you. If anyone gets an error, can you please remember WHAT NUMBER sound it is? Then I can fix it - it's most likely a config problem.
456820 0 Posted March 5, 2006 great work with this ive played ECP several times now and the new sounds are much better however the soldiers do appear to shout Grenade when theres no grenade near by maybe a wrong sound number? But none the less good work
sv5000 127 Posted March 5, 2006 This is tops Two thumbs up from the little yellow man
CameronMcDonald 146 Posted March 6, 2006 456820 - I'm getting that small problem too. It is a bit annoying - I might remove the "Grenade" sounds if I can't find a better solution.
mcpxxl 2 Posted March 6, 2006 Is it also running in Dedicated Enviroment ?
CameronMcDonald 146 Posted March 6, 2006 As far as I know - no external scripts are required for running, it's simply a matter of whacking in the addon and adding some entries into the ECP function files. I imagine that if the server had this addon installed, everything would run fine, seeing as other ECP addons work too on a dedicated server. Anyone want to try it out for me? Thomas Ryan 0 Posted March 6, 2006 Hi, I'm new to these forums and haven't quite settled in yet so if you can, tell me if I've done something wrong. Anyway, I think this extention to the allready great ECP v1.085 is.. well... great! However, when I went to download it from the mirror provided, the timer went to zero and then... nothing! The download didn't start, I don't know if anyone else has this problem. It's a shame because I really wanted this great addition to ECP! My question is, are there any other mirrors for this file? If so could someone tell me, I will be eternally greatful . Thanks! *Edit: Never mind, it's ok, I got it!
Shashman 0 Posted March 6, 2006 LOL Thomas, I see you had the same issue as I did And yeah I've just come off a server after an hour or so of CTI and it worked fine
Thomas Ryan 0 Posted March 6, 2006 Lol, yeah, the site layout is a bit confusing but I got it in the end. And let me say, I tested it out and its great, well done Cameron! I love ECP and this just made it better, great job !
mrn 0 Posted March 6, 2006 I've had a missing USaware051 (I think) and the dudes shout grenade too often when spotting enemies but apart from that it blends in very well with the existing sounds. Good job
CameronMcDonald 146 Posted March 6, 2006 Thanks guys. Soon I'll release an update with more Russian voices (I think I'll borrow a few from Retaliation: Peacekeeper) and with fixed bugs. Thanks for the kind comments - glad I could give back to the community for once!
Shadow NX 1 Posted March 6, 2006 I hope you read my comment about the russain sounds before, try to get that demo, it has hundreds of great sounds.
CameronMcDonald 146 Posted March 7, 2006 I hear you mate, will do my best to get it - if I've got the time and bandwith. Thanks for the idea.

CameronMcDonald 146 Posted March 7, 2006 Thanks mate. Just so you all know, an update is in the pipes - I'm gonna remove grenade sounds since I can't find a way around that small bug, and add about another ton of sounds from Q4 into combat, aware and idle categories. Once I get my hands on the Alfa demo, I'll be sure to start revamping the Russian voices too, with help from a Russian-speaker.
Guest Posted March 7, 2006 Just so you all know, an update is in the pipes - I'm gonna remove grenade sounds since I can't find a way around that small bug Check your code. Your bug is quite obvious upon implementation of the code -- it ruins the index order. Enough said.
benreeper 0 Posted March 7, 2006 If I were you, I would fix the "grenade" bug rather than deleting it in the next update. Deleting the sound would make this a good addon rather than a great one. All of the informational sound queues are important. Don't have your addon end up being described as "A good update to ECP, but..." --Ben
