Battle Tank/APC Preference

Hello there, I would just like to know, out of curiosity what kind of Tanks/APC's you guys favour. If it is an Addon or BIS created, Please share your opinion and pehaps tell alittle about why you like it, For me I love and can't get enough of the BIS T-80, definatley my favourite tank Thanks in advance everyone

i like Abrams, T-72/80/90

but i like more to bust Abramses with T-72, very hard to do it, but it keeps me well trained against overpowered enemy.

P.S. how to turn of smoke from AI controled Inq's and King Homer's Abramses when they are near to destruction?

because 4 abramses covered with smoke gives me some lag...

Hi,

My vote goes to the LLW YPR-765. It is a flimsy and vulnerable vehicle but can deliver a powerful blow. This makes stalking other armoured vehicles a dangerous, yet satisfying business. In addition the AI will use the vehicle's weapons and fire modes in a believable way.

Other armoured vehicles I like a lot are the Operation Frenchpoint VBL with .50 turret and the BWMOD Leopard1A5. The BIS BMP is my favourite original OFP vehicle: it offers guided AT missiles, a machinegun and a main gun whose rounds drop sufficiently to be able to fire from behind cover at non line of sight targets.

Sure, the BIS tanks aren't as nice as new high poly tanks with high res textures but still my favourite is the T-80.

The T-80 is the only tank I fear. The Abrams is tough too but I don't fear it, I hate it.

It's probably my favourite tank. Its faster than the Abrams, without having to have a gas turbine, it has the longer gun and just looks cool

IFV: BMP-3M

Come on, its like a tank, except smaller and faster with troop carrying capability. How can you beat it?

APC: BTR-T

Good armour, and I love the version with the 2A38 cannon...

I really agree with you, whenever I play the campaign and I see a T-80 coming, I feel somewhat afraid, especially if I have no AT weapons, Its a really great sense of fear combined with adrineline, I love it, but when I see an Abrams I feel more like "ohhh... great...I'm screwed.." but don't get me wrong I like the Abrams, its just overpowered in OFP, takes like 10 RPGs to destroy and i think 4 AT4's, funny thing I did a quicky mission with T-80 vs. M1A1 Platoon on Desert island and I watched as a civilian and strangely the T-80's won I was really shocked, I also noticed that they reload rounds alot faster and shoot faster than their M1 counterparts, Interesting stuff

actually i don't have a favorite armored vehicle in ofp, i just voted for it because of this hilarious pro-gavin, anti-stryker, anti-bradley, anti-hmmwv page that i saw a while back:

For default tanks, i like the BIS T80 a lot.

I agree with the "fearsome" potential of the vision of a T80 platoon storming your base, despite the BIS Abrams is more powerfull than the BIS T80, it is less impressive visually.

For addons tanks, the DKM T12UM1 "Black Eagle" is still my favorite

I voted for the M60A2, (although there isn't one for OFP and the BIS one represents an M60 A1 or A3, nomatter what it says in the mission editor) because I like All M60's... A1's, A2's, A3's even the Isareli Magach's.

I'm in love with the WGL BMP3 and BMD3, and the MFCTI M1A1, and the WGL one. Great memories blasting away clanmates in Abrams in my BMP3 and slaughtering infantry in the BMD. Something I'll never forget is using the MFCTI version of the M1A1 and destroying two armored tank columns led by the same person in a game of CTI, imagine his surprise when I started taking out his escorts and then his T80, then his two T72s and his two T80s the second time, and finally a BMP2, a T72, and a T80 the third time! It was absolutely amazing (Note, south Everon, north of Vernon, on the west side of the valley there's an amazing little nook with a bunch of trees. Park your tank there and you can shoot down on half of the valley with some fairly good concealment against humans).

Its a wonder that thing is able to move with all the armour its loaded up with!

PLEASE don't call the M113 a "gavin". That name is not official and was just made up by that site you linked to to give it a fancy name to make it more interesting. Te M113 is an old aluminium box on tracks that's about to fall apart because of old age.

No matter what they say about the stryker; at least that thing has a V-bottom to surfive a mineblast. The M113 is a deathtrap compared to that.

I vote for the DKM Black Eagle. It's not the best tank, since it was balanced againt the BIS ones, but it sure looks bad-ass!!!
