FFUR - Huge Release !!

Recommended Posts

Finally tried the Asian pack inlove.gif A very nice change to the american-russian conflict. With the high res islands it's like a different game. Also the music is a nice touch. Brilliant.

And now the minor irregularities:

-Japanese AT weapon (don't remember it's name, the bigger one) I aim it straight, it points upward like the Javelin but the missile launches straight. Should launch more like a javelin.

-Type64 Sniper rifle's recoil is weak compared to other rifles.

-Japanese FFARs' sound is weird/weak. Is it supposed to be like that?

-F2As don't have the rocket fire effects.

-Type74's MG muzzle flash is odd.

-Type87's gunner is sticking out from the top.

-Chinese crew's gun, should it really have a scope?

Are the asian AA vehicles supposed to be so accurate compared to the american and russian ones?

Could you add the F2A bomb explosion effects to all the other planes' bombs?

Type89 Aimpoint: It looks more like a scope than an aimpoint.

The asian tanks' MGs don't have tracers?

Before downloading any of the packs, you must make sure that your system's quite powerful to run the FFUR packs.

-->

Quote[/b] ]

To play the FFUR Packs flawlessly, we recommend the following:

Windows XP

1.8 GHz Pentium 4 or Athlon XP

512Mb DDR RAM

400Mb Hard Disk Space (per pack)

For those wishing to use the Sky Pack and High Resolution Islands:

Fifth Generation Graphics Card (eg. GeForce 5 Series or Radeon 9 series)

Btw as reven said ,we can't please everyone but we'll do our best to enhance more and more all the packs in the incoming envisaged patchs.

Thanks for the kind comments and the support.

Fair dues by the way in regards to performance, the mod runs much much smoother than the BETA, or any other previous versions of the mod.

Great work TB and the rest of the team yay.gif . I have found one bug though, not sure if it has been reported yet. It appears tha tin the winter pack I have no parachute when ejecting from a plane or chopper. There is a quick blip on the screen of a missing script followed buy my guy disappearing from the screen. Once this happens I have to abort the mission or editor.

I've been using a Ti4600 for years with this game. I can run Dxdll with reflections (no post processing),4xs antialiasing at 1280 x 1024 resolution loading either the FDFmod or FFUR and my fps rarely go below 20 on big maps. Usually are around 40. Driver version 45.23

Hi - was REALLY looking forward to getting my hands on this. But, having installed the "Modern" pack directly from the link in this forum I can't get it to run. I've done a fresh install of ofp (goty) - uprated it to 1.96, installed ffur to the ofp folder and created a shortcut EXACTLY as per the example given - yes, I've checked word spacing etc. Problem is, it still links straight to, and starts up, basic ofp 1.96 and not ffur.

I've noticed that the installation readmes refers to an ffur folder (I can't find one or anything else that looks like a mod folder - although I do now have other ffur items and files dotted about in the main ofp folder). I have re-installed twice now, with no progress. I'm not a newb to this, but am I missing something ??.

@ratsnest : what's your default ofp shortcut properties ?

We will release a patch for each pack and we will release 1 full pack with all the bigger packs fixed, btw I should incorporate very soon a governmental organisation in a few months...(I prefer to not to say what is it exactly... ).:P

That will give, quite enough of time, to the great addon makers to make a bunch of pretty stuff we'll incorporate to the expected FFUR - ArmA after a little rest period, vacations etc.

Thunderbird,

Sorry to say (after all your hard work) but the Modern 2005 pack is not impressive. The models (players and weapons) are poor, and the sounds are horrible.

Hopefully, the other packs are better than the the Modern Day one.

will incorporate RGD-5 to the FFUR 2005/Timed F1 as well.

The RGD-5 is no longer used by Russia....how about considering the RGO instead?

will take out the handguns from Machinegunners.

I hope you also plan to increase their accuracy...since, as others have mentioned already, they shoot as if their targets were 30 feet tall smile_o.gif

Quote[/b] ]Is there anyway this can be avoided apart from removing his sidearm..My squad was within 200 metres of the enemy and he still held the pistol

I'll take out the pistols from machine gunners and will increase a bit their accuracy.

Machinegunners suck in default OFP. Try it out, sometime. It looks like 1 out of 10 rounds flies towards the target.

And no soldier should have pistols but an Officer, a Pilot, a Political Officer, an MP, or a Spec Ops. (Off the top of my head.)

What OFP are you talking about? 1.46? tounge2.gif

They were a lot better in 1.96 than they were in the days of old... try it out yourself, set up 3 or so soldiers, and have them go towards an enemy machine gunner. Try this in vanilla 1.96, and then with F.F.U.R. You'll notice a HUGE change

In any case, 1 out of 10 would be better than the 1 out of 100 I seem to be experiencing now smile_o.gif

But now, I have to get to the one big  ugly cockroach - The AI seems to drive extreemely slow now - Played the first mission of Retaliation (I know unofficial campaign, but I don't see why this would affect it more than the official campaigns) and the ammo truck lags very far behind the rest of the convoy:

I had this problem playing Retaliation with the ECP v1.085 mod, I believe.

Eww... the addons used in the FFUR 2005 are the best ones ever carried out thus far, the majority of them are made by famous mods and people as RHS/ Laser/ ORCS/ CSLA...

The next time; it would be better that you make useful and interesting criticisms by arguing and explaining "what's so horrible?"... " and how can we deal to improve that?"

if not then don't take part anymore in this thread. smile_o.gif

Definately comerade, Thanks.

Should not, but try'em then you'll see.

YOU try it out.

Desert Island.

Put East mgunners facing West mgunners with an officer for each group.

Night time.

Place yourself on the "sideline" to observe how high the tracers are flying.

Separate them by a mere 100 - 300 meters.

You can even place vehicles. They will fire most of their rounds a good 5 meters above the vehicle's roof at about 200 meters. (I'm going off memory from a v1.96 test.)

The problem seems to be that lots of the rounds leave the barrel at the top of the recoil "arc".

If the mgunners behaved the way they were supposed to the game would be a lot more difficult than it is, apparently. Probably too difficult for most players.

And I've been playing this game since pre-v1.00. I tried to make a convoy ambush mission back then and I haven't seen any significant improvement in the mgunners since reporting the problem. (The mission was an utter failure because the mgunner fired most of the rounds over the vehicles, instead of riddling the crap out of the convoy.)

As I remember, the early M60 actually had less recoil than it does now. You could actually use the iron sight to aim at the enemy. Now the sight picture bounces so much that all you can do is draw a vertical line with the front sight post up through the target, hoping that one of your rounds will connect.

It's still useful for engaging soft-skinned vehicles, but because the A.I. can't be suppressed, only made to go prone, where they are MORE (not less) effective, the result is that the M60 is fairly useless and there for cosmetics, 'cause it sure ain't accurate enough for engaging individual infantry.

Most people who have never fired an M60 won't notice these issues.

Ah, so most likely then it's an issue with retaliation and nothing else, that's good smile_o.gif. In any case, it works fine with the 2005 pack, so at least I can still enjoy it with F.F.U.R

*edit* Uziyahu - as I've mentioned before, one of my strategies in Resistance is to load up on machine gunners, and call out targets for them using binoculars. Playing through the campaign numerous time doing this, they usually make swiss cheese out of enemy squads before any of them is hit. Now, with F.F.U.R. they are constantly shooting at the sky, and go ammo low before hitting anything. I'm sure I'm not the only one who found them to be very lethal before, and about as frightening as a declawed kitten now.

Hi, great packs. i tested all of them with islands and everything, have 30 fps when play.

all the 1985 packs have a poor aiming and shooting spetz natz

i aim on the legs and hit the head.

2005, the spetznatz with the scope have little bad zoom, the one with out scope vs val have better zoom, is it possible that you would change this in next patch? smile_o.gif
