eestikas88 0 Posted October 10, 2005 what makes those tanks "male" or "female",do they have/haven't got "something" that makes a difference?
harley 3 1185 0 Posted October 10, 2005 The Male Tank would be armed with a cannon (swivel mounted field gun, basically) and machine guns, whilst a Female would carry only machine guns (normally Lewis Guns).
crave22 0 Posted October 10, 2005 In my opinion, that's backwards, since women are alot more dangerous then men. Â w00t, post 100.
harley 3 1185 0 Posted October 10, 2005 lol, why do you think the "Male" has the bigger gun? Keep the "B****" in line. I assume that they were trying to specialise for different roles in assault tactics, even though a man could walk faster than them in the beginning
eestikas88 0 Posted October 10, 2005 so male has a cannon what stands for p***s sry....... thank you,now i can make a difference
D.murphy man 0 Posted October 10, 2005 great stuff! ive always loved the look of WW1 tanks. Reminds me when i was a wee one and use to collect war hammer stuff, from what i remember some the tanks look inspired from ww1 tanks as well as modern ones.some had swiveling guns on sides like ww1 tanks as well as a turret on top like modern tank - plus some guns coming out the hull. Any way! yea great stuff! cant wait to storm trenches with one of thous!
gavinthecat 0 Posted October 11, 2005 lol sure thing okay, well we'll do those er both offers in exchange for those ships and fortifications u mentioned shinkan, will post pics as units are done When ive got wip ill post the pics in this thread obviously, and when u shinkan have progress post ur pics in the house divided thread yep? (its in addons & mods discussion too) Once ive done the basics, i.e. whats in both offers lol, ill send it to ur mods admin (be it u shinkan or typhoon etc) structured in such a way with a readme explaining how to apply further modificiation to the template and basic troops included. lol HAIL the new deal! hehe... Oh obviously we don't want any of that work done for us leaked about etc, and likewise the work for u guys wont be beta tested by anyone outside myself etc, till its sent to u guys rock on
gavinthecat 0 Posted October 16, 2005 Okay, more or less, the ww1 units should be done by this wkend, just so u know comrades
tankieboy 0 Posted October 16, 2005 Anyone else feel they are hearing a private conversation? Lets have those tanks in action! Moving a slow speeds guns engaging!
gavinthecat 0 Posted October 17, 2005 Heres a sneak peak and progress report, I've done for the basic french so far, French infantry in coat, will include a sergeant, corporal and a basic CO. They include blood textures, and i made a LEBEL M1916 weapon (not particularly amazing) based on some old stuff, looks ok but im sure u'll replace it, in any case i coded it in for the chap here to use. Included also are some french faces that are randomly applied, (this is structured in such a way that it would be easy to add to these faces even more) I'll just keep on busily working, its a slog making units lol - meanwhile shinkansen the models you are doing for us are looking great and definately the town buildings, just of homes, bars, hotels, etc, even church lol these kinda things are great for us, don't worry too much about textures cos we'll spend ages on those anwyay, but the models totally save us time, and are very good work ur doing Note I went through these also, and fixed the bugs associated with this model edit, redefined its bits and bops and reconfigured its lods for optimal performance. Also i have coded an automatic AI bayonet attack for close range.
crave22 0 Posted October 17, 2005 It looks great, Gavin!
gavinthecat 0 Posted October 17, 2005 Um right well if someone would like to help lol, i could really do with anyones good pics of ww1 germans, basically ive got the outfit figured mostly, juts a plain infantry tunic, trousers, stanhelm (typo i know) and some rifle pouches, but any more would be useful cheers
gavinthecat 0 Posted October 17, 2005 Alright, ill post a pic here, Now before u guys all panic, lol this is not a final german pic okay, its just a very early wip, why? cos i er need some of u ww1 chaps to help suggest how u want him 'furnished' equipment wise, (the helmet texture isnt a final either btw)
belgerot 33 Posted October 18, 2005 Nice progress so far, just make sure you correct the helmet a bit more http://www.germanhelmet.com/abouthelmet.html
Shinkansen 0 Posted October 18, 2005 Great work!!! I like it!!!
gavinthecat 0 Posted October 19, 2005 Alright, Germans are nearly done, They and the french have a lebel model 1916, and a G98 apiece. I have also included them each a ww1 hand grenade, custom edited to be thrown in long range (at the height of their throw) as was their mortar like tactic then (after all they do use bayonets) Admittedly of course u chaps may change the combat system to ur specification that ive coded thus far, but i have to say so far in tests, its looking and playing very well. Experimenting on kolgujev with the fog up and stormy weather, is very atmospheric. Anyway, im about 60% through the 'foundation' ww1 infantry pack mod, that is, 1 grunt and 2 ncos + 1 officer, for germany, britain and france, + 1 wep for each, and 1 grenade, + ive added our experimental injury system + bayonet coding for each (which is almost lagless plays good en masse) due to the customised lod system incorporated, that plays well for large unit numbers (which ill be applying tot he civil war units too for my own mod) Happy with the progress being done for our mod by u shinkansen its looking good, should u guys ever want me to expand the unit range once the foundation pack is done (i.e. u check it out and love it hopefully! lol) then ill expand them in exchange for more models of untextured buildings common to our wild west era lol, but we can discuss that nearer the time Anyway more pics coming tomorrow of the finished germans
CanadianTerror 0 Posted October 19, 2005 Wasnt there a ww1 german helmet with a spike on top?
POPKA 0 Posted October 19, 2005 i think that was 1914, and only used in parade but im not sure.
belgerot 33 Posted October 19, 2005 I am not too sure either but I believe there were two versions, one for parades and one used in the field. Most I've seen in the field have always had a cover over them. I'm pretty sure they were used from 1914 until 1916, when the M-16/M-17 helmets were introduced. Correct me if I'm wrong though. gavinthecat 0 Posted October 19, 2005 Okay, the germans, they all have ww1 grenades (the french and germans) which they throw more or less in a volley as i intended. Um as regards to the helmet ive remodelled it again thru alteration, but im no uber modeller, so if u guys want a ww1 helmet done from scratch ill need a model for that In anycase there looking good, the NCO's just have rank badge decals as different object selections, the officers are none too disimilar. Um... so they bayonet at close range, they throw grenades afar (tho things go crazy if u deploy them close right away lol) and there is an injury system, quite primitive at the mo, working on the principle that we make all men medics, so when they are hit, the fall into 2 animations, leaving them vulnerable (and animated) as they writhe in pain lol, or administer a wound etc. In effect it works excellently ingame and im sure its a feature you will retain.
