Katzelowski 0 Posted August 5, 2005 Well, I have no idea if this happened and I have no idea how it happened, if it happened :P! Problems I experience: <ul> [*]AI is very stupid (using ECP + Super AI enabled...) [*]AI either doesn't hit me, or hits me one-shot-one-kill. [*]My weapons sometimes don't shoot at the destinated location. [*]Game crashes from time to time. [*]AI units stuck for some unexplainable reason. [*]I could extend this list but I believe that these points are the main factors. I have original OFP + RES + RED. I didn't play OFP for longs. Now I came back. I played through 1985 - everything worked fine. I played half way through Redhammer. Then there were some problems (Heli always crashed in cutscenes, -endmission didn't work...) so I downloaded Redhammer.sqs or so from Avon Lady's. I cheated sometimes - but only if there were problems... And I tried -campaign once (didn'T work). I've got ECP installed, mostly play with LLAUMA, DXDLL, Y2K3, -nomap, -nosplash, object material defs, 1.96. Everything worked fine. I believe that Fade triggered by replacing the Redhammer.sqs. Maybe it triggers when replacing game files, dunno.... Please, help me ! Would be nice if there would also a statment by BIS.... I love OFP, it's my favourite game. Would be sad if I had to quit now. I'm playing it since the Demo, played those beta and alpha versions (that one with the heli :P), since the very first day. Format c: or what is no option for me. Thanks a lot to that one who helps me....
redface 1 Posted August 5, 2005 seems to me like this can happen with any pretty normal ofp install
berghoff 11 Posted August 5, 2005 Oh you remind me how old OFP really is. Right now most of the ppl I know just play around with the addons and thats it. Quote[/b] ]AI is very stupid What are they doing? If they "hit the dirt" when they hear a shot or see you and remain there that basiclly OFP.Quote[/b] ]AI either doesn't hit me, or hits me one-shot-one-kill. Just a matter of staying behind bushes correctly.Quote[/b] ]My weapons sometimes don't shoot at the destinated location. Strange.Quote[/b] ]Game crashes from time to time. You need to post your setup.Quote[/b] ]AI units stuck for some unexplainable reason. They can get stuck near objects indeed. >< don't start with the AI can't operate properly inside houses Quote[/b] ]alpha versions (that one with the heli :P) I think that was a tech demo for something . Katzelowski 0 Posted August 5, 2005 Thanks for your help, I'll try to comment your asserts so maybe we can find out if it's "just OFP" or FADE... Quote[/b] ]What are they doing? If they "hit the dirt" when they hear a shot or see you and remain there that basiclly OFP. I believe this explains it quite precise... Btw. I could just kill them all and they didn't react. Quote[/b] ]Just a matter of staying behind bushes correctly. Possible, I'll try that out. Quote[/b] ]You need to post your setup. I'm quite sure that it doesn't occure because of my setup. I didn't have any problems just one week ago. But if you'd like to... Please: P4 2.6 GHZ Northwood 512 DDR Infineon GF4 Ti 4800 SE 2x Razor 60GB (10,5k rpm HDD) Quote[/b] ]They can get stuck near objects indeed. >< don't start with the AI can't operate properly inside houses Well don't think I'm a fool. I'm fairly experienced with OFP ^^! It's not the houses that worry me. E.g. in one Red Hammer mission you start in a forrest. A small camp. Tents. A campfire. And of course, trees. LOTS of trees. But I don't know if that's the problem. OK, AI acts very slow inside of forrests - tha'ts a fact. But not moving from the beginning of the mission, but answering my commands, and look left and right, but NOT MOVING - that's kind of strange, eh ? Quote[/b] ]I think that was a tech demo for something . No idea, I don't even know where I got it from. I believe it was ofp.info - btw., isn't it exciting that ofp.info didn't change their design since 4 years ^^? I only remember that it had extremely bad graphics and it was very old. But you could see that it's some kind of malden. Well, but not more. Some kind... And I remember there was a second beta. But I don't have a clue what was up with that! Would be interesting if somebody did a small research about it, I would be pleased if I could have a look at it again. Rembering good ol' times you know.... Times without having FADE triggered ! I tried with the new ECP, still stupid. 2 - That happens. 3 - Elaborate...? 4 - It happens very rarely, but it does happen. Try deleting some addons or use -nomap 5 - That happens, too. Don't worry about it, I replayed a part of the Resistance campaign today, and I was continually frustrated beyond belief by the stupidity of the AI. Hopefully this is fixed in OFP 2 or I will organize a mass suicide for OFP players frustrated by this issue. Many will come. Anyway, a little advice: Turn off DXDLL. For me it makes my computer cry, performance-wise, and who knows what it does to all other parts of OFP? It looks good, but it has disadvantages. It might not have anything to do with it whatsoever, but it's a good idea.
mr burns 132 Posted August 6, 2005 [*]AI either doesn't hit me, or hits me one-shot-one-kill. [*]My weapons sometimes don't shoot at the destinated location. 2 - That happens. 3 - Elaborate...? Don´t know how you triggered it but these 2 points at least look very fade´ish. Not going to elaborate anything: a - Discussions about cracks, piracy, bla etc. isn´t allowed on these boards. b - that copy protection works very well, it makes people buy ofp
Blanco 0 Posted August 6, 2005 Can't you see it in the splash screen when fade is activated?

Nemesis6 0 Posted August 6, 2005 Ok, there's one solid way you can confirm if FADE is indeed activated. Enter a multiplayer game. If the text "Remember: Original copies do not fade." appears, then you have triggered it. If not, you haven't.

sputnik monroe 102 Posted August 6, 2005 Yeah if you go to multiplayer it will give you that message if fade is activated. I once tried to play on LAN with a friend. I used the same copy to install on each computer, since 1.96 doesn't need the CD in. When we started the game he got the message, "Remember: original copies do not fade." . The friendly AI would shoot my friend. At first we thought it was a bug, but it happened every time we restarted. He tried to shoot one of them and he could not hit them from like 5 feet. I did not see this fade message the few times I got to play online, so it does only infact happen if you do something they don't like. Any way long of the short... try to start or join a multiplayer game, if you get that message you've got FADE, if not then you likely don't.
Katzelowski 0 Posted August 6, 2005 Phew great tip! Gotta try that out. I'll report if you I've got fade or not!

GoOB 0 Posted August 8, 2005 b - that copy protection works very well, it makes people buy ofp And it also activates on legal copies for no apparent reason from time to time
Katzelowski 0 Posted August 8, 2005 Could somebody help me out? Where is this message shown?
nominesine 0 Posted August 10, 2005 You should see it in the upper left corner of your screen, where you can see who entered or left the game. You get this *ping* sound and then there´s... "Remember... fade... et cetera" If I remember it correctly it appeared for the first time when I upgraded my RES to 1.85 or 1.91. But I wouldn´t worry about that. I´ve been looking at that text during more than two years of regular MP-gaming. I have a legal copy of OFP and it isn´t fading. I think that message is just a little scary reminder, put in there by BIS to keep us on our toes. I played this game since 2001 and I´ve never encountered someone with confirmed FADE-problems. Garcia 0 Posted August 10, 2005 Probally because everyone who actually activates FADE and FADE ruins the whole game (like not hitting from 5 feet) do have illegal copy of OFP and therefor don't go posting about it, since there's no reason to do it  Quote[/b] ]Problems I experience: <ul> [*]AI is very stupid (using ECP + Super AI enabled...)
