ebud 18 Posted September 18, 2005 but they need some work. The textiles for the pockets need to be cut from another piece of cammo on another part of the pattern so that the camo pattern doesn't just run across the pockets. Also the black "outer glow" around the pockets does define them but looks catoony. Once you use a new piece of camo for the pocket and another for the pocket flap you can tone down that black outline, also where the edges of the pocket are would be a hair ligher in shade from the rest do to washing and fading. http://www.tridentmilitary.com/New-photos12/bosn15.jpg This is just one example, but how the light (I know it's indoor crappy lighting, but the effect is still similar) plays across the cloth and the pockets etc is the effect you should be going towards instead of the really harsh, cartoony look that they are leaning towards now. But they are looking nice so far and I really like the vest.
belgerot 33 Posted September 20, 2005 One thing that can be said is that the quality has definately improved over the last few weeks of this addon. The model, the new head, even the textures look amazing. I am glad to hear there is a possibility of these guys in winter clothing. I could definately see white hats/helmet covers as well as white parkas being used. Heheh how about one fellow with a Ushanka?
offtime 0 Posted September 20, 2005 i followed sugestions made by Ebud (thanks E. ) and now model looks in my opinion much better, instead of black outline i gave some darkening around pockets and some lightening on them, also camo pattern doesnt run acros pockets now. today i will finish making base models and will send them do Iron. He will make some customization and config writing. release is preety close. (i know i should make screens on nogova, but hey ! tonal looks much better )

ebud 18 Posted September 20, 2005 Hehe, nice work Offtime, but you didn't do a closeup shot to see the progress on the uniform details I'm sure they look great, and trust that the final will be very well done. The one thing I might say is that they have some of the same issues I have with most units made from the resistance models. The guy looks too skinny. Maybe I'm used to so many fat people here in the U.S., but to me they could use some bulking up. Or not. Either way they'll be nice.
Rikki Tikki Tavi 0 Posted September 20, 2005 Lol I'm with Ebud on that one. They look a little skinny, but not terribly malnourished like some other models I've seen. Just a bit small-boned. Â
fingolfin 1972 Posted September 20, 2005 Hm, they look like normal europeans to me. Great work btw!
offtime 0 Posted September 20, 2005 Hehe, nice work Offtime, but you didn't do a closeup shot to see the progress on the uniform details Hehehe :-) yeah, was hoping you wont ask for this http://img376.imageshack.us/img376/9391/eshirt1yh.jpg I'm sure they look great, and trust that the final will be very well done. every second addon should be always btter than previous, thats the point of learning stuff, without this we wouldnt have fun while making addons so im hoping that this one will be better than my older projects The one thing I might say is that they have some of the same issues I have with most units made from the resistance models. The guy looks too skinny. Maybe I'm used to so many fat people here in the U.S., but to me they could use some bulking up. Or not. Either way they'll be nice. i somehow find them to be ok with theyr weight/bulkyness, most of my army time friends werent fat/huge/bulky or whtever we might call this... but i must agree on one thing, we could use some more custom models, so not every one in ofp looks same skinny i will make few more experiments on this model. for now i managed to improve theyr legs, old BIS legs were 8 sided "cilinders", ive made new one out of 12 sided cilinders and made them fit to standard BIS legs texture layout lower part of pants (around boots) look now much better, but still somehow unrealistic, but i will think up something to change that ;-) btw, sorry that work on model i was reworking for you is taking me so much time, im implementing some stuff i learned lately, hope you will like it ADDED: some unedited screens . . . CanadianTerror 0 Posted September 20, 2005 About the soldier sizes...it really depends what they are wearing. These are some Yugoaslav/Kosovo pics with and without a vest...it looks about the same as the EDF models except for maybe a baggier look for units with vests. The lowlands warrior OPFOR pic has baggier clothes though. I think they both look ok to be honest.
finarvas 1 Posted September 21, 2005 They look really good =) But eh.. if they're going to be equipped with AKs, those pockets look a bit to small for AK magazines.

Cribban 1 Posted September 23, 2005 Well after some harsh times in the army I finnaly got some time off to continue my work on animations I dont come empty handed though, here's a vid showing something that u will probably see in EDF in a near future. The possiblity to look down the sight on weapons. WIP EDF sight preview After some practice it's rather easy to shoot with it EDIT: the weapon I used in this video is the AK74 from the RHS pack and will not be included in the EDF pack
honchoblack 2 Posted September 23, 2005 The preview looks excellent, very good idea and very well executed, looking forward to this kind of aiming
sanctuary 19 Posted September 23, 2005 Very nice video and very nicely executed anim. But aren't you running into the problems i ran into some months ago, that you can see in that thread , for the situations when your soldier will use a different weapon than the one for which the 3D ironsight view has been created for ?
Cribban 1 Posted September 23, 2005 thats why it says it still a WIP but we are workin on a code witch surely will fix this
sanctuary 19 Posted September 23, 2005 I understood it's still a WIP. I just asked just the question to see if you had already found a solution for the problems that can be noticed in the thread.
Cribban 1 Posted September 23, 2005 well we can only hope that it will work out ok
sanctuary 19 Posted September 23, 2005 I hope you will find a solution, because that's a very interesting concept good luck.

crassus 0 Posted September 23, 2005 Are you considering incorporating Itweas' Ninja swimming scripting into your soldiers? I think it's high time that any new soldiers produced be swim "qualified." For some of your SpecOps soldiers please consider, if you've not already, Chain of Command's Diver scripting. If your able, combine the two, so that it's possible for the soldiers to swim below the surface (using CoC Diver scripting) yet still need to surface for air and still continue swimming (Itweas' Swimming). Also, someone had written a script to allow AI divers to follow the player/leader while in the water.
