FFUR Incoming HUGE RELEASE !!!

Recommended Posts

Hi Thunderbird

Just a quick comment on the new ironsights you've mentioned. While the quality of the artwork is excellent, I would suggest that they are 'optically' unrealistic. When the eye focuses on a target the target being looked at and if anything the site on the muzzle end are the only things that should be in focus. For example:

1b.jpg

2b.jpg

and for the actual PNG:

2b.png

This effect of the feathered opacity can be ahieved using a PNG24 formatted graphic - if PNG is accepted by the application - not sure of this?

Just a thought.

@xnodunitx: You're right, in reality the area of the gun nearing your face should be even more blury than I've made this example.

@Thunderbird: I'd be happy to help out with PNG creation if you felt this was of use and if there was time to update the sight pack. No pressure either way. wink_o.gif

that looks good but i dont like the M16 bluryness it looks a bit too much but good idea never thought of that but when you focus down the sights you dont seem to notice the rear sights but only the front ones well for me

but anyway looks good

Of course, you'd have to do a more thurough job of he m16's iron sites.. that ring is the rear site apperture, to it would have to be blurred aswell.

Hi mates,

Nice idea Seminara , I'll discuss about it with Benus to see if we can improve them a bit in this way in the goal to mak'em "optically" realistic

I will keep you informed , more pics are on the way , stay tuned,

@plaintiff1:  You're right, I didn't really focus on the M16.  The sight should look more like this in case the concept were accepted:

Anyway, just a small detail.  Please don't let this hold the MOD up but rather add it to an update if you decide to use it!   biggrin_o.gif

Everything looks very good!

I don't really like the ironsights though, and since you use parts of addons created by the community cant you use Earl & Sucheys ironsights for their Marine Assault Pack?

Don't take this the wrong way, it is just my new side, to really give critisism to everything, not hide and say that everything looks good...

So no offence

Lookin' good! But I personally prefer the blurier iron sights. Like this one; http://www.bricup.org.uk/misc/1c.jpg

Edit: Hehe, nevermind. I just noticed;

I agree with JW, I think the iron sights are a little to well-focused.. You try shoving something next to your face, it's hard to focus on it tounge2.gif

Other than that, looks nice, can't wait biggrin_o.gif

No, they are to well done so they look bad..

crazy_o.gif

Uhmm, meaning; The texture seems to be high quality but it makes it look worse, mostly cause of the highlightning of it, like someone were behind you with a strong flashlight.. And you see all the small dots, wich makes it look even worse...

Hey mates , as I said here

That means that we'll add the blurry effect which will enhance them more , btw the ironsights aren't so big in game , I just made a 1.5 X Zoom to show you how they look closer wink_o.gif

^^^^ it is for the M16A4

I really like those changes !!! REALISM is always good for OFP.

those from earl and suchey are nice and still high quality... but they really do not fit to every weapon model !!!

that is what we wanted to do ... for every weapon an own texture !!!

if you still want the others replace it in the config then smile_o.gif that is always an option !

I'll give it a try to give those texture the blurry effect, so they perhaps will find their way in the firts release.

but when making such textures there aren't many sources to find good pics for and when you never had a gun or a rifle in your hand (many of you guys had I think) ... well then I can only do it by looking at the models ingame ...

and what about diversification !?

SEMINARA thx for the constructive criticism

because it has nothing to do with I LIKE IT OR I DON'T LIKE IT when we want it realistic.

FOR REALISM AND FOR LOSS OF DETAIL smile_o.gif we didn't want them TOO BLURRY

this PIC is ingame !!! but resized

Hey Benus

I'm glad you saw my comments as constructive criticism rather than any other type of useless bitching.  Great job in turning the changes around so quickly.  I personally prefer a higher level of blur but if you want to maintain the objects visual integrity I can understand where you're coming from.

Out of curiosity - is it PNG that you're using for the transparency or is it another type of file format?

Cheers

Quote[/b] ]maybe you can replace the ch47 with ch53 for teh 2005 pack?

Great proposal , it would fit pretty good, thanks smile_o.gif

Btw some new changes :

Finally after 4 years , here are the first replacements for the jeeps :

Jeep -> SEF Hmmwv Open

JeepMG -> SEF Hmmwv Open / M2

Benus's added the blurr effect to the ironsights , so they're more realistic , thanks to Seminara.

We are still waiting for Manfred's Shilka too , we hope he'll release it very soon.
