Story:Delta Force in Afghanistan!

---------------------------------

The land is in a state of constant chaos again since the withdrawal of the VDV.

Russia couldnt keep them any longer in the country, since they had their own conflicts they had to attend to.And since the war that raged in this land couldnt be stopped by the Russian Airborne Troops, the VDV had to obey the commands of their supiriors. Even though they didnt want to leave this conflict, because many of them felt that they were about to gain control of the hearts and minds of the population.

WarLords and their Warbands soon filled the power vacuum again, left by the retreating forces.

Now it will be up to the DELTA FORCE to bring peace back to this country! They will try to succeed, where the well equiped VDV failed.

The main responsibility lies in your hands,since you were designated the Combat CO for this mission. You have enough manpower, but it will be up to you to get all of your men through this alive!

You have enough hardware to invade any country. Headquarters assigned you strong air support, A-10 Warthog flights throughout the day, giving fast air support, as well as AH-60L Direct Action Penetrator as CAS support. But you were warned not to risk any Collateral Damage, so you better think twice, before you order in such firepower.

Your CO will provide you with all the needed intel. Your advanced communication and the unlimited air support will turn the tide in this conflict to our favor. But other wars have taught that a country can't be controlled through air superiority alone. In this hilly country it is better to rely on infantry tactics.

The men you were assigned are capable of fullfilling any task that might arise, so you should be confident about the outcome of this conflict.

Mission comes in two flavors, one is addonheavy using alot of community content, the other one is reduced in addons, more fit for slower computers.

A short intro on how to play this one-mission-campaign:

The Player Character Functions available only at Base:

"Rest" your troops and yourself, to fight another day. Heals wounded and rearms squad, and if you rest back at base it fills squad back up and resuplies vehicles, once the radio operator is lost, use the rest at base option to get a new radio operator assigned.

"Detach Team 1" Leaves Team 1 back at base, can be called back into the squad with radio code "Rally Troops".

"Detach Team 2" Leaves Team 2 back at base, can be called back into the squad with radio code "Rally Troops".

"Detach Team 3" Leaves Team 3 back at base, can be called back into the squad with radio code "Rally Troops".

"Rally Troops" (if you use the detach option in base the troops will wait there untill you rally them again)

"Rearm Squad" to quickly rearm your squad with one mouseclick.

At the Map Table:

"Mission" Report to your CO before and after a mission. Before to get assigned a mission, and after to confirm your mission success.

After a mission is assigned to you by the CO check the map for the location of the next encounter.

"Abort Mission" abort the current objective, but you get a small popularity drop.

At the Video table:

Choose between "BASIC and ADVANCED", ADVANCED modus adds action menu options "Detach Troop 1-3".

At the Armoury:

Pick your weapon loadout at the ammo crates in the armoury. Designate your squad with any weapon, he will keep his main weapon, untill you assign a new one. Weapon crates are refilled with the rest function.

Radio Codes:

Use the Radio Code "Para" to get Inserted to the place where you click on the map by parachute. You can alter your flightpath by picking the radio code again, but once the heli is going in for the drop, it is no longer possible, a message to the left top will signal this.

Use the Radio Code "Insertion" to get Inserted by fast rappel to the place where you click on the map. You can alter your flightpath by picking the radio code again, but once the heli is going in for the drop, it is no longer possible, a message to the left top will signal this.

Use the Radio Code "Extraction" to get extracted back to base, no click necessary, but the chopper starts at home base, so it will need the same time to get to you as the insertion flight needed to get there! You will be informed about the distance of the extrac heli to the bottom left, Ectrac heli can be redirected inflight, just give the radio code again, the Extrac will head for the new designated target.

Use the Radio Code "MedEvac" to extract your wounded and dead (Leaving Friendlies behind will lower your popularity) by clicking on the map.

Pick a spot right ontop of you, but be aware, the chopper starts at home base, so it will need the same time to get to you as the insertion flight needed to get there.  You will be informed about the distance of the medevac heli to the bottom left.

Use the Radio Code "SMOKE" to get a smoke fire mission, once targeted the smoke will come in for a couple of rounds, droping on the targetarea, blocking the ais sight, jam2 aisight obscuring objects used with the smoke fire mission.

Use the Radio Code "Flare" to get a flare fire mission, once targeted the flares will come in for 1 minute droping on the targetarea

Use the Radio Code "ARTI" to get a artillery fire mission, once targeted the Rounds will come in. A message to the upper left reports when the firemission is complete.

Use the Radio Code "CAS" to order in close air support, a Blackhawk Direct Action Penetrator will start at airbase and procceed to the designated target area, CAS can be redirected inflight.

Use the Radio Code "CLUSTER STRIKE" to order in a A10-LGB attack with a cluster bomb strike mission.

Use the Radio Code "LGB STRIKE" to order in a A10-LGB attack with a double precission bomb strike mission.

radio codes for the radio operator, once you lose your radio operator you wont have these functions anymore

the functions are:

1. Call HQ: get update on mission status, and report in successfull or failed mission, get new assignments (rest in field, but new troops only available once rest at base)

2. Call Insertion: Call a insertion helicopter, the helicopter will take you from the field to new directions, can be redirected inflight

3. Call Para: Call a insertion helicopter for paradrop, will take you from the field to new directions, can be redirected inflight

Vehicles at base:

If you dont want to be inserted by heli, use a vehicel from the base instead (You will be resuplied with new vehicles with every rest)

Only the 3 HMVVs, 3 M2A2s, 3 Littlebirds, 2 A10-LGB, 2 Blackhawks, and the Helis for Insertion, Extraction and Medevac are unlimited.

Be carefull with the weapon of your choice, in populated cities it is better to look before you shoot, specially using nades in close combat, or doing bombing runs with a A10-LGB. All missions can be solved by heli insertion, the base weapons are supposed to give the possibility of an versital advance, as is the possibility to change the squads weapon loadout. The heavy weapons are supposed to be implemented into further battle modules.

Bugs:

----------------------------------------

No intro movie, (but win and lose outro) but mission plays like a movie so it shouldnt be missed.

Lag can occur during spawning of big quantities of opfor and civilians.

Sometimes the insertion helicopter gets stuck (to avoid it try not to use time acceleration during liftoff), once stuck reasign a new insertion spot that isnt as far away, sometimes waiting till the computer has layed a path does the job too.

Playtips:

----------------------------------------

The mission was programmed on a P4/HT 3.0gHz, and tested with a view distance of 2100 meters with normal terrain, adjust your ingame options according to your pc.

Setviewdistance according to your system, no restriction are given through the mission.

(Fog is bound to bad weather and Sandstorms)

If you use DXDLL (who dont?) deactivate reflections by pressing command-i ingame, or with the configurator.

(will save cpu power, and there is no water in the map)

If you use pbo´s very often its a good idea to depbo them, and back pbo them uncompressed, this will shorten the loading times of Operation Flashpoint and missions. (Tip thanks to Sanctuary)

the 3 Littlebirds availble at base (2x"MH6" 1x(either AH6 Gunship or AH6 Multi Purpose Fighter)) are for the player flown insertion, the AI handles them very well, so that the player can use a gunship and let the squad follow with the "MH6"´s

the AI flown insertion/para uses the BAS Blackhawks, the insertion makes use of the BAS Fast Rappel system, allowing the player to be inserted within cities

i was thinking about a AI flown insertion with the Littlebirds, but since the AI handles the birds well, and i used up all my radio codes i left it out, but i will make good use of the Littlebirds, i was thinking of working on a support call, let a squad of DELTA´s be flown in by them, to support the player (or how about troop resuply infield, once the player looses 5 squadmembers he will get the new grunts flown to him, but might be a ballance overkill, so might save this option for the Addon-Heavy version, since it plays much harder with the RHS tanks)

you got the option to deactivate the function, by choosing "Basic" at the video table, so you dont have to use it, if you always take the whole squad that is the way to go wink_o.gif

i find the "Detach 1-3" quite conftable though, they only appear at base, and gives the player the option of taking different teams on the assignments, once the player leaves the base parameter the options will dissapear, so no crowded action menu when the fighting begins smile_o.gif

i will implement that the radio gets transfered to one of the other team members if the radio operator gets left behind, or make him the only unit that is always available (he caries a m4 m203 scoped/suppressed so he is good for some support)

team 1: Radio Operator, Medic, AT (all equiped with suppressed rifles)

team 2: AT, Marksman, Autorifleman, Mgunner, Smaw, Grenadier

team 3: Spotter, Sniper

I've been watching your progress on these two missions for a while, and I look forward to your Delta release (not to mention the new rebels). However, I'd like to propose that you use the newer 2.1 Heliux. I know you didn't like the addon dependencies, and I totally agree, but with everything you've mentioned as required addons for the basic version, you shouldn't have any issues. I have all of those things, and the 2.1 Toyota works fine. I empty the vehicle cargo so there isn't anything in there except what I want to put in, plus I just use empty units and move a rebel or afghan in it and I haven't had a problem.

Just a thought, as I like using the newer 2.1 version, especially when I have the sport model for the Special Operators and the regular version for the locals.

i will take a look at the newer hilux, i thought that it looks different too, the axis is much higher than in the older version, it would look to "modern" for the terrorists i think, but as i said, i will take a good look at the vehicle, and decide then wink_o.gif

interesting that you dont like the BN_tracer, since i really love them, i prefer the WBE tracer for vehicles, like the FFXUR uses them, but tastes are different i know smile_o.gif

could you post the values, how you use the WBE tracer, i used them some time ago, but reduced the size to minimum, to have a realer feel to them, but didnt like them for infantry, since they look like fluffy tennis balls when coming towards the player

i will take a look at those values, and if i like it i will make a version with it, and if i dont, i will consider making a BN_tracer-less version for the people that use a mod anyway to play the mission, or for people who just dont like the BN_tracers

yes i know, but i hardly ever get to see it, since i use ironsight/scope while shooting, i hardly ever shoot without (only on close range, but most of the time my squadmates take care of the enemy at that range, before i can react)

if i find the time i will post a picture of what i dont like about the WBE tracer, i refer to the "fluffy-tennisball-effect" when beeing shot at with them tounge_o.gif

Its taking them an aweful longtime to release them , hurry up you buggers we've got a great looking mission here stalled because of you biggrin_o.gif .

Nice job though honcho i liked the russian version but it was a tad bit boring but this i think i will like more as it fits in well with the theme.

i took a good look at the Hiluxmg and Hiluxsport 2.1, and as much as i would like to use them, specially the Hiluxsport for the operatives, i wont, since the addon has dependencies to some of BAS weapons, i think the DERA pack from BAS must be installed for the Hilux 2.1 to function, to bad a rework of it would be more than nice, maybe with a little dirtier texture, to make it look more used, and of course get rid of any addondependencies, the function implemented are very usefull and i would love to use an updated version of the vehicle wink_o.gif

i took a look at those tracers and i am just not to satisfied with them, but i consulted my Dynamic Mission Alliance Partners and Sanctuary was so kind to remind me, that the tracers use a fired eventhandler, and since i use a fired eventhandler for the disperse script already there would be 2 scripts running with every shot crazy_o.gif so the idea that concludes from this, is to make a eventhandler free version of both missions, this will have the benefit for the mission to work more properly with any mods out there, since those mods use eventhandlers anyway no use of doing the same thing over and over again (i will release an optional BN_Tracer version but only 1 firedeventhandler per AI unit (either tracer or disperse script)

yes those desert grunts are looooong awaited, only matched by the release of ECP by now biggrin_o.gif

yes i know what you mean, me too am kind of done with the VDV, i hardly work the mission anymore, the new insertion from the BAS Birds is just too much fun, it behaves much better than the BIS MH-17, as does the Direct Action Penetrator in contrary to the Hokum (which i will revert back to the Hind in the next update of the VDV, the Hokum just cant handle those high afghan mountains, it tends to crash alot, specially with 4x time acceleration crazy_o.gif )
