Just got my license and up to level 9 now. I absolutely love the big fights (I had some nice 30 vs 30, including archers, mounted troops, very impressive!wink_o.gif. The 'bad gfx' are no problem at all in my opinion.

I'm at level 12 now... and yeah, the graphics don't bother me at all.

And I finally was able to kill someone while I was on horseback... took me long enough. icon_rolleyes.gif

This game is great. I payed the twelve dollars for the license key, best 12 dollars I've spent.

I'm level 18 now, and still enjoying it. I can't wait to see what future additions are in store for this game.

Quote[/b] ]The combat is outstanding, especially the mounted combat (though I have yet to effectively use the lance - but I'm a crack shot with a crossbow). It's tough too - I have no problems fighting river pirates, but I get trounced going against anybody more effective.

That's one thing I find great about this game, every one seems to have a different fighting style. I use bow on foot mostly and do hit and runs from horse back with my bardiche. I'm terrible at horse archery, and I haven't used a thrown weapon or crossbow yet. Foot combat I'm not so good at, I do good one on one but usually they mob me and trample me to death.

Quote[/b] ] I have yet to effectively use the lance

Something to keep in mind when using the lance. Don't use the left mouse button to attack with it. You gallop until the you gain enough speed and the player will lower the lance. Then you just run over some one making sure the end of the lance hits them. It does a lot of damage that way, but it's kind of tricky with all the hills. You also need to use a horse with a speed of at least 6 or you'll never get fast enough for the character to lower the lance. It's called a crouched lance attack.

Has any here fought dark hunters yet? They are freaking tough I hate them.

I did run into some Dark Hunters - they kicked my ass.

Thanks for the tip on the lance - I'll try it out. smile_o.gif

Never was much of a fan of fantasy RPGs but might as well give it a shot. At that price its more than buyable if I like it. yay.gif

EDIT: Oh well, it complains about me not having enough video memory. 128MB is not enough? crazy_o.gif

We were 19 men (4 knights, 4 horseriders, 5 infantry, 4 veterans and one footsoldier plus myself on L11) - 13 of them of them (6 dark knights plus 7 others) kicked our asses like nothing - despite me killing 2 darkknights and a few others... These guys are tough!

@EiZei: I have a Radeon 9600 with 128mb and it works like a charm. Check the config maybe? huh.gif

Ive now got a license and am loving this game, i was recently looking into buying WOW but the pay to play had put me off, but now i can see this game easily passing the time untill NWN2 is out.

Got to love that xbow 1 shot head kills, work like a dream, i like riding into battle with it armed and getting a head shot then switching back to me trusty longsword and shield.

Does anyone know if certain cities give you better ÅÅÅ for the stuff you sell?

btw when in battle, wether its the "friendly" tournaments or for real make sure you use keys 1-5 they order your troops about you can make them stand their ground, follow you, charge, dismount (you can use their horses v usefull in tourneys) and mount.

Yes - if you visit the merchants in each city they'll tell you what they produce and where to sell it for the best price and they also tell you what they take at a premium.

I haven't seriously tried being a merchant yet, and usually just sell stuff ASAP.

is it the same for weapons and armour or just the merchant junk?

i got a armourd charger horse from a battle, unable to ride it i sold it, looking at it in my inventory it said its value was 6k yet i went to 3-4 cities and they would only give me like 2k for it, gits

has anybody done any supply quests ? some of them are awfully tedious, but they're quite profitable in the end

Yes, the count of Tihr (I think it was) asked me to bring him three leather caps. So I went to the local merchant and bought three of them for 345 denars. And he gave me something like 846 denars as a reward. One lazy git tounge2.gif

as long as you don't have to find and take 5 hunter horses to someone ... biggrin_o.gif

I have a heavy charger now biggrin_o.gif Spirited Hunters are good though.

Another tip I found out, If your horse gets crippled and gets the lame title (for example lame hunter) if you keep it and it doesn't get wounded any more it'll heal in 30 days. Usually it's easier to just sell the lame horse, but if you have a charger or say a heavy war horse you might want to keep it safe in your inventory while it heals as they are rare and hard to find.

Oh yeah, if you don't have food you can always drop a horse into the food slot.

You hire people at the taverns. You can recruit rescued prisoners, and there are two hero's in the game you can hire.

The 2nd is Borcha. He's being held prisoner in a settlement near Zendar. You'll need a little cash and a level of prisoner management skill to facilitate him eventually joining your party.

It's important to understand that, unlike the nameless troops you can hire or recruit, your character, Marnid and Borcha cannot be killed. You may only get knocked out and robbed if your health drops to zero.

you can also equip them with new kit, but at a cost, you basically sell the items to them but if you want them back at any stage you gotta buy them back, which sucks ass

Well worth the purchase. This game is going to kick so much ass when it's finished.

At the moment I'm around level 19 with equipped with some badass equipment - round steel shield, balanced war sword, [cracked] black armour, black helment, and a heavy war-horse. And of course, smoked fish!!!

I didn't fancy the merchant route or the war route. Instead I took the time to capture small groups of bandits/pirates and sell them off. BTW, there's two slave traders - one in Zendar and one in the Salt Mine. Seems the latter pays more for prisoners.

I feel sorry for those poor old farmers and refugees getting captured by bandits, so that's priority no.1. smile_o.gif If you leave the prisoners you rescued alone then you can come back to them and have them join your party.

What I noticed is that the larger your party becomes the larger the enemy parties become. So I figured there's no point going above about 10 men unless you want very long battles.

The first time I came across the dark knights, they kicked our asses in 2 mins. sad_o.gif They even stole our beloved smoked fish!

However know that most of the party is upgraded to vaegir knights we usually succeed.

This game is really sucking up a lot of hours. Oh well, at least its not as bad as the South Korea incident. smile_o.gif

[edit] Another thing I'd like to add - perhaps the greatest thing about this game is that it's not really a fantasy RPG, although it does have the medieval theme to it. Thank God there's no magic spells and mages included, otherwise it would have ruined it.

Borcha is being held prisoner by the count in the town north east of the starting town. You go and talk to him about the prisoner and agree to take him to some other town to be hung. Half way there I noticed you could select and talk to your prisoners just like the rest of your party. Well when you talk to him he offers to join your party if you set him free.

Argh, if this is true I feel stupid. I've been building my charisma and leader ship so I can lead more troops. At the moment I have 45 people in my warband. Every time I see bandits and black Khergit they are in groups of 40 now. I had originally hoped to gain enough troops to outnumber dark raiders, but now they seem to have more so you may be right. It's a arms race that cannot be won.

As for great items, I have a sniper crossbow and a watered steel scimitar. The jury is still out for me on the case of Crossbow vs Bow. The bow is nice because you can shoot faster, the cross bow on the other hand does more damage and you can aim it with out the reticule getting bigger, (which is cool it simulates fatigue from keeping the bow knocked which you don't get with a crossbow.) Early on I was kicking ass with the bow, now I can't seem to kill any one with it.
