cobra@pulse 0 Posted November 29, 2005 I'd go with the realism mate. If flying, you'd want to acctual feel the control you have. Or in some cases dont have
-HUNTER- 1 Posted November 29, 2005 If we choose the hands on method! Would we be able to hover the aircraft? Or use the thrust vectoring for AA Im choosing hands on anyway since it will offer more realisme and also it will be better to use in different ofp maps! stevevcb 3 Posted November 29, 2005 If in doubt, go the whole hog and the hell with anyone who disagrees! (That's a 'yes' for the realistic approach, by the way.)
Guest RKSL-Rock Posted November 29, 2005 If we choose the hands on method! Would we be able to hover the aircraft? Or use the thrust vectoring for AA Â Â Â Honestly im not 100% sure... Hovering would be possible although since its going to be realistic you wont be able to do it for long! The Harrier is water cooled in a Hover you have 2mins max per tank. Â As for VIFFing (Vector In Forward Flight) during a dog fight it is possible but currently pretty messy, so its something we're going to have to look at carefully but again we arent promising anything right now only kicking around ideas. Â So dont get your hopes up.

VTOL and STOL on this puppy would make my day, nevermind anything else you add in im assuming you'll animate the nozzles as well - perhaps add a bit of heat shimmer? (seen it done on other addons, quite simple it looks)

Messiah 2 Posted November 29, 2005 nice one fella oh, and one more thing (would have edited my post, but you replied so quickly) - perhaps you could find a way to create a dust cliud when hovering by modifying those rotorwash scripts

Daniel 0 Posted November 29, 2005 Sounds great! I can't remember who said it but it'll be fun to have to learn the controls again. Adds an extra sense of novelty. I vote realistic, and good luck with it.

sniperuk02 0 Posted November 30, 2005 Same, go realistic. The model is looking great, combined with all the things you've mentioned it sounds like its going to be the best plane addon out there.

Guest RKSL-Rock Posted December 6, 2005 OK so we all want a realistic Harrier Cool. Ok I have good news and bad... BAD NEWS Yesterday I had a small accident with my server...it jumped off its shelf, falling 2m to the floor after hitting me on the way down (Nice big bruise on my side).  The damage was mainly superficial, plastic frontage etc, but unfortunately there was some corruption and hence some casualties. The server is my personal data storage network containing over 240gb of stuff including all the research materials and my OFP project drives.  I’ve managed to recover 221gb of data before the drive failed but there have been some casualties: The latest versions of several packs have all died: Object Pack1 Hanger Pack 2 & 3 HAS Pack 1 Camo Net Pack 2 Airbus A330/340 Pack BAe Nimrod MR2 Boeing XF/A-32 JSF Boeing B-2A Spirit Boeing E-3D Sentry Boeing 707 Pack Boeing Bird of Prey EC-120 Colibri Lockheed U-2 Pack Lockheed F-117A/X/N Although I do have some of the early models from some of the projects I’ve decided to scrap some projects them due to the time it would take to remake them to a standard I would be happy with.  I know a few people have been looking forward to getting the new packs and I’m sorry but I just don’t have the time to remake them. The Nimrod & E-3D will be remade, as will the XF/A-32 JSF.  The others remain dead until I’ve finished some of the more important projects. GOOD NEWS Well after the bad news this might sound a bit weak. The GR7 Harrier is coming along nicely, with the fuselage textures and cockpit at about 80%. The Tornado & TSR.2 packs have also received some more attention in light of some new info courtesy of a member of my family getting involved (a bit); namely a newer weapons loadout and scripting  not to mention more accurate models. Also the Eurofighter Typhoon will be updated after Xmas also again thanks to more info, pics and advice from 2 mates at RAF Coningsby. The Fire Control project is still in work. UNN is optimising the Rapier FSC scripting which is the basis for the entire system & the models and textures are about 90% now. That’s all for now.  Again apologies to those that are disappointed with the decision not to restart the buildings and some aircraft packs but I have other interests at the moment. Cheers Rock
Messiah 2 Posted December 6, 2005 ouch. glad to see the nimrod's being kept on tho - lovely aircraft
Guest RKSL-Rock Posted December 6, 2005 ouch.  glad to see the nimrod's being kept on tho - lovely aircraft  Literally the server weighs 35kgs ... and the Nimrod. I couldnt let it die. Its a shame thought because I'd just redone the entire cockpit and interior. It only needed a few tweaks and it was ready.
ExtracTioN 0 Posted December 6, 2005 ouch that idd sucks all the hard work all the hours you have put bam all gone that sucks But good to hear that not everything is lost otherwise after such an accident when everything goes lost you than have no fate no will to work on addons again drive next time slowly m8 Or burn the work you have on a DVD-r just incase for a chance for further accidents. Drive slowly?  I was in my office at home? Well since the box was a fully RAIDed drive i shouldnt have lost anything but the storage drives both suffered pretty badly (i'll never use Maxtor again) and i managed to recover most of the data by combining the data from most drives.  One disk was 70% corrupt, the other about 30%.  I was lucky to get as much as i did. As for DVDs, I have my monthy backups but since ive done alot work inthe last months since the last checkpoint it does represent alot of lost time.  Too much to easily/happily pick up. Messiah 2 Posted December 6, 2005 nevermind mate, but a real shame that the nimrod was so close to completion - the photo's smiley posted with it flying through the NI clouds was fantastic - eager to see it hey, at least you're ok though (bar the bruising)
