CAT's Afghanistan Revisited

As promised earlier, this is an updated version of CAT_SHIT_ONE's Afghanistan island & objects.

A few things you need to know about:

This update features:

- 1 new big city, 5 new villages and a number of smaller settlements scattered all over the island.

- New post-Soviet airbase with functional ILS (landing autopilot).

- New post-Soviet style military base.

- Several opium plantations added.

- Simple road network connecting settlements and the airbase.

- Thousands of rocks, bushes and shrubbery added all over the island.

The following changes were introduced:

- Major config cleanup and tweaking.

- Quite a few missing faces and missing textures on object models were fixed.

- A number of additional resolution LODs was added to selected objects in order to improve performance.

- No object files were removed, so this version is backwards compatibile with previous versions. This means that any 3rd party islands using these objects should work without problems.

- Everything that was on the map in version v3 is still there, exactly where it was (for mission compatibility reasons).

- Terrain relief remains (almost) the same (for mission compatibility reasons).

- No additional addons were used (due to compatibility reasons!).

- All ground textures reverted to BIS resistance ones (in order to cut down file size).

- All the buildings are now available in Mission Editor.

This sounds like a dream come true, i always loved that island and was very sad by the fact that it was never going to pass beta status, thanks much agent smith, glad to hear you also finished some of the buildings .

Now about the textures, hmm i loved the high resolution textures, the BIS Nogova textures are not so impressive i think, bah im too excited to bother with those now, another big thanks to you mr. agent guy, i could kiss you right now (not ).

nice job took a quick blast around in a heli and i like the look of all the new areas to play around in

its kinda lost the look of the original with bis ground textures which is a shame cos the old textures didn't hit performance at all and theres still missing transitions anyway .

but you've done a hell of a lot stuff to the rest of it.. nice work cos it really needed doing

From what everyones complaining about textures , i guess we wouldnt mind a sub 50 or maybe 70 MB file it'll be a good compromise but please get in good textures .

Just did an Apache tour and it looks great! I really don't see what's missing in the textures. Anyone care to do a before and after screenpic presentation on what the major difference is?
