Heatseeker 0 Posted March 7, 2005 The more i make some quick skirmishes on that island, the more i appreciate the lag free feeling on my system, and the extended cities that are offering some good urban combat situations without puzzling the AI. Indeed, though i experience fps drop in the huge Quandahar city due to all the buildings, if we add a decent amount of a.i. and some vehicals it will problably lag , i always avoid large towns like the ones in Tonal anyway so its fine really and with some fog it should still work out well. But on a brighter side the small house groups and villages like Charikar are perfect! They are very well done and placed and all types of assaults can be made there from assault, defence and even convoy ambushes, has is it offers great mission possibilities. mr reality 0 Posted March 7, 2005 @Messiah, I can see by your avatar that your landrover pack is coming along nicely . And this revisited Cat shit island is sweet. I've got a small suggestion and it kinda relates to Remo's Afghanistan island. He was trying to have a "Azan" instead of church bells but i'm not sure if he's craked it yet so i was wondering if you had a go at that yourself as i know you havn't used the bells either. now it's not a problem as i can just use my Azan sound file but i was hopeing it was possible to do. Acecombat 0 Posted March 7, 2005 Awesome , i like the improved work on the mosque , but could you please get the textures on the top of the round dome a bit more better applied (in need of a better word to explain my point ). Right now they seem too stretched from some angles as was the case with the previous ones , ih ope you can fix them this time ? It would be really good then . Now if only i could get the islands anim to work i wouldnt have that annoying "stuck in mission" crap when you back out of the editor/network/mission. If only a few more objects with afghanee theme could have been made and put over it would seriously rock. Besides, IIRC Schoeler was working on some sort of middleestern style cafe. Maybe somebody could track him down and ask...  Edit: wooot, haven't noticed, but I just got the 3rd star. Acecombat 0 Posted March 7, 2005 Ive been searching very hard to find some high res afghan pics but cant Anyway cam across this little site it has pics from afghanistan and neighbouring NWFP in pakistan too , nice pics maybe you could use them to base shops on? It has meduim sized pics though. Afghan website @Fighter: I know its the arabic font but i didnt understand what you wrote (as a word) they look just randomly placed letters not even joined together. Didnt work for me too, placed the island pbo in a mod folder and the anims in the opf/res/addons folder but it didnt work , that Mosque is looking better and better . You sure could place some of those other buildings addons on your own, free to choose what u like and place wherever u want - total freedom for mission planners. He has already done the back breaking work to provide a seamless no lag island with the main stuff like airport and towns. Really, its great as it is, and u could place a hell lot of other buildings and structures on the genuinely flat lowlands (unlike other island makers who gave the lowlands undulating ground - making it useless to put buildings) and even made some of the hilltops flat too so that you can put even structures there!...In all my years here, i seldom download islands cos although they were great works, but with Mr. Smith's island - i never need to use another island for desert wars! The eagle's nest:- The eagle's eyes and ears:- Kabul Capital :- National Project:- National Export:- None of it is real in afghanistan - but hey! wats stopping yer from having some fun?
