hardrock 1 Posted February 2, 2005 The only games I bought last year were LOMAC, Civ3 Deluxe Edition and American Conquest, and none of them was released in 2004 No vote from me.
shadow 6 Posted February 2, 2005 hmmm not much to choose from. On the other hand not many great games was released last year either. Riddick has character, the voices are unmatched and the story is full of mysteries and excitement. On the other hand Far Cry has real guns, more freedom and not so much sci-fi in it. The one-trick pony is on the list (HL2) but Doom3 is not? You deserve some bitch-slapping for that, Albert Atleast Doom3 has atmosphere. Far Cry it is then. Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted February 2, 2005 Shadow.. you all had time enough during the last 3 days to say which games deserve to be in that list. I deleted Doom3 by request from a forum member! Â
Postduifje 0 Posted February 2, 2005 I'll go with farcry. Most of the other games I've never played so my choice is based on very limited observations, but so be it.

Wasn't Vampire much older than 2004? I voted Half Life 2 Because I didn't play the others...

Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted February 2, 2005 Is it normal to not have played a single one of those games? Â well it wasnt a good year but on the other hand it wasnt soooo bad either.. would at least been worth to try the demo of one or the other!
Gadger 0 Posted February 2, 2005 Well Rome get's my vote. New patch next week should also be fixing all those little niggles, and the mod community is second only to OFP's.
maximilien 0 Posted February 2, 2005 Game industry awards .... All is hype : (**) is the winner... source : "http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/02/01/news_6117727.html" ------------------------------------------------------------------- "Half-Life 2 named Game of the Year at D.I.C.E. awards Halo 2 guns down four awards; San Andreas, Katamari, Fable, among a pack picking up two awards each; World of Warcraft named best MMO title. LAS VEGAS--The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) handed out awards during the 8th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards tonight in Las Vegas. About four hundred attendees watched as Valve founder Gabe Newell accepted nine awards, including First Person Action Game of the Year, the Innovation in Computer Gaming award, and ultimately, Game of the Year. The only category Half-Life 2 was nominated in but failed to win was in the Outstanding Achievement in Game Design category, which went to Katamari Damacy. While Halo 2 was the night's second biggest winner, nabbing four awards, it could only muster awards in categories Half-Life 2 was not nominated for. Trip Hawkins accepted his Hall of Fame award midway through the ceremony. Hawkins thanked the Academy and attendees saying, "it was a dream of mine to turn games into an art form." The festivities this year were a far cry from the raucous, noisy, smoke-filled, and open-bar-graced event of last year. One of the few spikes in energy this year was the passionate acceptance speech which followed the naming of ESPN NFL 2K5 as Sports Simulation game of the Year. "I think we did all we could do to fight a big contender," the Sega rep accepting the award said as attendees cheered. Possibly the one other highlight of the night was the ten minutes Spider-Man creator and comic books legend Stan Lee spent on stage. Arriving at the microphone--and addressing the audience with his signature greeting: "hello culture lovers"--Lee settled down and played the straight man. He announced a number of awards, deftly navigating the many disparate names of game titles, developers, and publishers. At 82, Lee's act was polished, refined--he reeled the audience in easliy with a quick-witted repetoire of wisecracks and one-liners. The awards ceremony spanned about three hours in total. Category winners are noted with asterisks below. llauma 0 Posted February 2, 2005 This list sais as much about quality as the Oscar! Nothing! Â I agree.. It feels more like a opportunity for the big boys to give each other some awards. Far Cry wasn't even nominated and still it propably beats Doom3 and HL2. But I guess crytek needs to wait for their next release to be invited to the party. No damn rookies plz especially if they compete with the most hyped games

I have the game and I still don't understand.  Quote[/b] ]overall the game is by the far the best game i've ever played, its just...amazing... I guess some are easier to please than others  I started playing it for a second time a week ago. I played untill I met up with Alyx in that lab. Looked at her cute face for a couple of seconds, then quit the game out of boredom

billybob2002 0 Posted February 2, 2005 Quote[/b] ]First-Person Action Game of the Year**Halo 2 (Microsoft/Bungie) GoldenEye: Rogue Agent (Electronic Arts/Electronic Arts LA) Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (Nintendo/Tetro Studios) The Chronicles of Riddick (Vivendi Universal Games/Starbreeze) Heads would of been rolling if GoldenEye won. Men of Valor was hell of a lot better than that sub-par game. Anyway, Riddick got my vote...
GoOB 0 Posted February 2, 2005 It was between Pirates! and Rome:Total War for me. R:TW came out on top in the end, if the original Pirates! was in the poll, my vote had been different though! EDIT: Oh, and Half-Life2 was fun. For a while, I'd love to see the engine put to more proper use though!
