Major Fubar 0 Posted September 9, 2005 I just clicked on their site and downloaded at 1000 kbps, took a good 3-4 minutes Same here - I got around 800kbps, and I live on the bottom of the planet!
wildo 0 Posted September 9, 2005 i cant even play the demo i get an error message on start up saying my grpahics driver may be corrupt, direct 3d isnt installed properly and other such, any suggestions? i think ive the latest ATI drivers (i have an ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 ) Wildo
Placebo 29 Posted September 9, 2005 Have you tried the latest omega drivers instead of using the mobility drivers? Omega drivers are based on the regular catalysts instead of the mobility drivers so they tend to be better http://www.omegadrivers.net/ati.php
berghoff 11 Posted September 9, 2005 The demo has some problem, cutscene subtitels do not match what there are saying, sometimes sounds skips. The HUD bar is way to big + camera is a bit to zoomed in on the map but I guess I missed something only played it for 5min.
Mr. Cheese 0 Posted September 9, 2005 Yeah, got 64kb/s when I first tried downloading the damn thing But then I did it with lovely LeechGet. Muhahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaa Waiting in anticipation to see what the demo's like...
iNeo 0 Posted September 9, 2005 Got blue screen when I tried to start the game, so I updated the video drivers and got this error message instead: Quote[/b] ]Age of Empires III requires at least a 64 MB video card. This computer appears to have a 0 MB video card.System information: 3200 MHz, 1024 MB, 0 MB (vendorID 1002, deviceID 4e4a) Heh. But there were two buttons, Exit game and Attempt to run, so I clicked Attempt and it worked.
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted September 10, 2005 Okay, I realy tried!!! In the past I realy loved this kind of games and the screenshots looked very promising. But I dont know, somehow the right euphoria didnt reach the surface. The game is nice and with lots of good ideas and animations but I got very very bored at the end of the mission. What shall I do? Is this the big computergame exhaust? Got bored of BF2 Got bored of Silent Hunter Got bored of Vice City Got bored of Silent Hunter .... And now I got so much leisure that I am even more bored. So I decided to on a horse riding trip next weekend. I hope the passion comes back when ArmA is released! SO PLACEBO; WILL YOU TELL YOUR TEAM TO PLEASE WORK 247!!! Airbourne Alchaholic 0 Posted September 10, 2005 Great game I thought! Did anyone else notice somthing wrong with the way the priest walked? I think in needs a few touchups, I guess I'll wait and see for the final product.
The Frenchman 0 Posted October 21, 2005 Sorry to revive such an old thread, but some very interesting information from another forum has come to my attention. It seems that in the back of AoE3 Collectors Edition there is a very peculiar piece of artwork. Now, I have no idea what it could mean, so I decided I might share this with you: Hmm? Akira 0 Posted October 21, 2005 It just represents the ages you advance through doesn't it?
The Frenchman 0 Posted October 21, 2005 It just represents the ages you advance through doesn't it? It pretty much confirms AoE4 and 5. I, II and III are the concept art for their respective games, so its pretty obvious that IV and V show what the last two games are about.
cozza 24 Posted October 22, 2005 Modern and future would be crap. It'll be another stargety game like the ones we all ready have
Commando84 0 Posted October 23, 2005 i think empire earth owns age of empires any day of the week but im actually a bit intrested in what news age of empires 3 can bring. Only low down is that it only runs on windows xp and i only have 2k pro damn why do they have to make it that way..
JdB 151 Posted October 23, 2005 Empire Earth is one of my favorite RTS games too, but AoE ranks just a little higher imo (and no, not because of graphics, but gameplay wise). AoE 4 would be from 1850-2000 something, which is a cool timeperiod, I wish they had included the American Civil War period in this AoE 3, as it would have fit in better with the Napoleonic era of warfare then with the WW1 style combat, but anyway, 3 cheers for Ensemble (despite a nasty bug or two). But of course first to wait for AoM 2 Edit: funny, first everyone was talking about the game, and now that is has been released all is quit here....unless you are all hanging out on an AoE forum of course
llauma 0 Posted October 24, 2005 AOE III is just crap in my oppinion. It might have worked a few years ago but it has barely evolved at all. Games has to offer more than this. I guess they will sell a few million copies just because of the name. The campaign story is terrible. They should drop the empires from the name and call it Age of Black - A family story. Compaired to the Total War series this is obsolete. Sure they aren't really the same genre but if this is everything AOE can offer then I think they should end the series with this one. Colossus 2 Posted November 4, 2005 Got AoE3 the last day. Without explaining every thing I just want to say that I am very disapointed, they literally killed AoE with this game. It's a ok game but it doesn't deserve to have the name Age of Empire anymore, it has lost it's soul and it doesn't feel like AoE should. Disapointed and I'll give it a grade of 6/
The Frenchman 0 Posted November 5, 2005 The home city system is a good idea, make no mistake. But the fact that they got rid of all trade, ignored everything outside the Americas, abandoned all us low specs players and switched from their entertaining informational campaigns to movie-like rpg, it kinda cancels out the good. Â And if they were going for an all American colonization game, why the hell did they have the Ottomans in there? The Dutch need to pwn something in the New England map. I'm looking at you, Sweden. I guess there are always X-Packs.
crashdome 3 Posted November 5, 2005 ... and there's always Civ
ArchangelSKT 0 Posted November 5, 2005 I played the demo, and I had really high hopes for the title based on my experiance with AoEII which in my opinion is one of the greatest in all time. I even looked into getting the collectors edition, but I have to say that eventually it didn`t really crasp me, sure the graphics are nice and the homecity feature is good too, but in the end it gave me nothing. I`ll rather getting the AoE II gold editon then AoE III. Besides that there are to many other games on the horizon now, Civ IV as mentioned in the previous post might be one of them. GoOB 0 Posted November 6, 2005 Just got Civ IV today, boy. Great game! I feel it's a bit more dumbed down than Civ II (haven't played III). But perhaps that's just owed to the fact that the interface is a little more intuitive than it was before. And yeah, I tried the AoE3 demo... Heh, never was a fan of the AoE franchise, and I suppose I never will be after this one, since it looked really promising. But, AoE2 kicks butt via LAN one of the few RTS games I like to play in MP
