Is there an updated version?

I see all kinds of tanks and apc being updated.

But haven't found an updated or good looking and more modernized tank. BIS is alright. But I would like a better one.

Any help would be grateful.

There are Sigma's tanks, the desert textures by Marfy look great, but I'd love to see a few model improvements (still has a hexagon cannon) and new woodland textures, perhaps more Combat! like woodland.

Yea... I saw those.

But they came out... hmmm... a year or two ago. (I think?)

Wasn't that impressed then.

But I know, "Combat" could make a sweet @$$ looking one!

As you have his East Tank pack, the recent tanks models from the Red Hammer Studios T54/55 pack are from Sigma too if i remember well.

Nice replacements from BIS default tanks, i think you should enjoy them.

@Militiasniper. If you want that tank in desert use Marfys desert textures to that. The textures in both versions (sigmas and marfys) use the same names and format so you just swap them and then you have a lovely desertversion.

I guess that you cant use that version officially.... But its roaming around in my private desert mod biggrin_o.gif along with trucks and humwvies (rf_humwvies) using marfys deserttexture. Marfys textures are the best.

PS. Its very interesting to play 1985 campaign in desert. All default units are desertversion, always clear sky, no forrests (desert versions of the islands) and all the island near the equator -> sun rise at 0600 and night falls 1800 making some mission to night missions that werent meant to be that smile_o.gif

After Montignac I managed to escape from the farm to the evacuation by sneaking bush to bush. But I was a nervwreck after that crazy_o.gif But I suppose your f***ed if you play the other mission, the one you get if you manage to take Montignac...

SIG's tanks are nice.

But looking at DKM's Black Eagle, Challenger, Tunguska or Lowlands Warrior's Leopard 2A6, the Abrams is outdated.

I still hope COMBAT! Mod is making one.

it's definitely time to make an abrams pack with reworked models. Sigma's tanks are great, but the hexagonal cannon annoys me constantly.

a long time ago i remodeled some parts on the BIS m1a1 and gave it the textures from sigmas m1a1's

and its about 2000 faces less than sigma's m1

u know why urs has less poly's? Sigma has an MG stuck on it and the back bars look a bit more rounder (however that could just be the angle)

+hatches and onturret equipment looks nicer.

The smoke grenade launchers above the barrel aren't worn in wartime - they are used in MILES training. I think they're called ATWESS (AT weapon simulation system) and they simulate the main gun firing in a training environment. You can save yourself some polys by removing them without sacrificing realism. wink_o.gifsmile_o.gif

I'd rather see a rounded main gun barrel, the loaders MG ( M240B ) added, and the most up to date sensors, antenna, electronic gear, etc.

The problem with Sigma's US tanks packs is the ease in which it is easily destroyed at ranges usually about 2200 meters to 2800 meters.

Unless the enemy is using DU rounds, which most OPFOR forces would most likely not have, I doubt a RL 1991 Abrams would get annilated so easily as with Sigma's M1A1's and later modelled versions of his Abrams.

Of course there are significant weak spots for the Abrams, but a head on fight, in a 2 to 1 disadvantage.  The Abrams has at least about probably 4-6 to 1 kill ratio at >2500 meters before Abrams tanks start getting immobilized, disabled, or destroyed.

Unless the OPFOR has DU tank rounds, the Abrams really should start to be concerned when enemy tanks start getting closer than 2000 meters.

If they get closer than 1500 meters, its a fast and furious slugfest where just about any tank is sure as dead if the gunner aims right.

BIS better get a good solution to this crummy mess of armor simulation for OFP 2, because I'm tired of having to resort superelevate my gun barrel for anything past 1500 meters.  That's what you do when your computer sights and ranging screws up.

Not to mention the overly effective BIS ATGM's when hitting the front of the Abrams.

My suggestion is for the WGL Mod to take a slightly toned down version of Sigma's Abrams model and put it in WGL's Mod but using WGL ammo and weapons for the Abrams.  The Same for Sigma's T80, except using the ammo and weapons in WGL.

Overall, if you want a decent simulation of armor combat, I suggest you download the WGL Mod.  It's primarily a Multiplayer Mod but also works well with single player, except for a couple minor extra functions that don't affect gameplay.

Anyways, that's my analysis of things.
