But I found that here:

Doom 3 planet

Still does'nt work wink_o.gif

That code was removed from the release-version of Doom3.

I've heared people saying it was in betas or alphas or something.

...here's again to the guy who said Doom3 doesn't have "nice overall graphics" and it has "maybe some ragdoll" compared to HL2.

tounge_o.gif

What i tried to mean by that was that Doom3 would have better graphics, but HL2's would be still impressive nonetheless.

Yeah yeah, sure you did. tounge_o.gif

Just finished yesterday, what a great game, scary as hell (no pun intended) though smile_o.gif

Im running it on high detail, 1024x768 and 4x aa and it runs smooth, well it did untill i met the guardian in hell, frames dropped dramtically when he was on screen, but it was fine when i met the final boss, who was much easier than the guardian i thought.

I think it replaced the 3d-model enemies with the old 2d-sprites from Doom 1 & 2

Hello,

this might interest OFP modding saddos (like me):

Did you know that:

* you can open the .pk4 files with winzip?

* the .dds texture files used in the models can be loaded with a utility called DXTBmp from

http://fly.to/mwgfx/

* the .ogg sound files can be opened with winamp?

PS: I'm not condoning stealing any models or sounds from Doom 3. Let me get that clear. I'd love to use the zombie sounds for example, but I won't (besides, if I want real moaning zombies, I just need to get the train to Paisley from Glasgow.)

I'd love to see a revenant in OFP though smile_o.gif

Gollum, have u turned off shadows in those screenies? 'Cause there's no place in the game (at least that far I got) that is so bright. The whole base is darker than a grave. ghostface.gif

Maybe he brightened them a bit with Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro.

...WHEN WILL IT BE OUT, HERE!? I have to admit, I'm an old Doom Fan. Don't worry, I'm not a fanboy. Fanboys are sad people who believe that the game they love is the best and only game in the universe... sounds like a lot of people here, don't you think? rock.gif  biggrin_o.gif

well, for one he uses the ducktape mod ( see screen of the "about to be shotgunned" guy)

and maybe he couln't handle it and uppened his brightness? well, he can do that but it takes away SO MUCH from the game... i played it without brightening the screen up (and without the flashlight ducktaped to my rifles) and WOW! ghostface.gifcrazy_o.gifbiggrin_o.gif

First, I use the Super Doom 3 mod 0.4a, not the simple duct-tape mod. A 22nd century Marine not equipped with NVGs, let alone a flashlight when shooting (only with pistol, shotgun, SMG, chaingun), is, well...silly.

Secondly, the brightening option in D3 only increases contrast, it doesn't remove shadows or actually increase gamma or brightness significantly, it is so that you have to play the game the way it is supposed to be.

Thirdly, yes I brightened a few pics in Photoshop CS so you can see something.

Doom 3 is not ment to be a realistic game. It's ment to be a scary, DARK game. What's the point in playing when all the enviroment is all lighten up by your flashlight?

I mean, the scene (SPOILER) where you escort a dude and then his torch goes out and monsters spawn everywhere. What's the point in that when you can see them clearly? I got shit scared by that 'cause the only light scoure where simply the little red "flames" that comes from the imps skin. Scary. ghostface.gif

Well I've had doom 3 available for me from the day it came out. So it's been around for a few weeks. Since I recently bought a new computer. I can't say I've had any inclination to play it. Whatsoever.

My cousin played it instead... and to be honest. I don't feel at all like I'm missing anything. I've watched him play it... and it's pretty much what I expected it to be.

A smaller-scale version of doom in which you still run around deathmatching monsters and taking fifty million bullets. The lifelike surroundings are in my opinion are trivialised to a great degree when you're being filled with a million bullets or have enough fireballs tossed at you to cook a turkey. I would have liked it a lot more if there were less monsters but they were smarter and actually hunted you down. This would justify an increase in the damage scale for both player and AI. As it would force the player not to rely on their capacity to take damage as a means to get out of trouble.

Yes. Some things about doom were different. They added a story. They also added little movement puzzles and driving those little platform things were... eh ... gimmicks.

However in the end it was just the same old shit. Every new map was just a new hardware straining scene in which you could deathmatch a new batch of monsters. There was nothing ambient about it.

And when you went to hell... it was pretty much nothing but running around blowing away hellknights and imps.

I stuck around to look at the bosses and see what the scenery in hell looked like... which yes. Was interesting. As was the effect when you were being swallowed by that fleshy gullet type portal thing to hell...

But in the end... it can be summed up as one fight, repeated many many times. With little variation with inconsequential changes to the scenery.

If anything I was disappointed that certain things in *cough* versions unintended for the general public, weren't present. Such as persistent bodies (I know there's a mod for it) and more importantly. Zombies would get up after they were shot down a few times and you could stand on their corpses to keep them from getting up. So then you could shoot them.

At least farcry allowed for some strategic advances and legitimate problems to solve.

Just finished it. I liked it but I think its not a patch on Far Cry. Constant tight corridors with monsters appearing right on top of you gets a bit tedious. And some really frustrating moments when it hits you with two hell knights at point blank range. Couldn't have made it through some parts wthout quicksave though overall it was pretty easy.

Not a bad game by any stretch but I actually think Doom 1 + 2 are still more fun.

Lets see what Half Life 2 has to offer next.

I think this game sucks big time. Stupid plot, bad sounds, too dark and the theme is stupid. Sci-fi and satan worshipping mixed up won't work for me atleast.   smile_o.gif

Graphics are good though.  tounge_o.gif

News to every Doom 3 fan: New expansion coming up

Quote[/b] ]The first official expansion pack for Doom 3 will be co-developed by Nerve Software and id Software and will herald the return of the double-barrelled shotgun, publisher Activision announced this afternoon. Say Hell-o to Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil.

Few details are available about the expansion - we don't even known when it will ship, although we could hazard a guess that it'll be "when it's done" - other than the developer and a few scraps about the story: apparently you hold in your hands a timeless and evil artefact that holds the powers of Hell, and the demons want it back.

The expansion will consist of new locations, characters and weapons, including the classic boomstick arguably made famous in the first-person shooter genre by id Software's efforts with Doom II. It will also feature multiplayer support for up to eight players, rather than Doom 3's four, on a selection of new maps.

"Doom 3 defines first-person cinematic action," id Software CEO Todd Hollenshead modestly observes, "and the expansion pack continues right where we left off - with a terrifying atmosphere, a new story and one of the most classic weapons ever, the double-barrelled shotgun."

The expansion "delivers players deeper into the heart of the UAC to uncover new secrets and technology used to destroy the demon force that's Hell-bent on destroying you," he added.

Although the game is being co-developed by Nerve and id, the likelihood is that Nerve will handle most of the grunt work; assuming the collaboration is in keeping with the trend set by past id Software FPS expansions and sequels. Indeed, Nerve's previous work includes Return To Castle Wolfenstein: Tide of War for Xbox, an online-enabled reworking of an id property originally exported and re-imagined on the PC by Gray Matter Studios.

What's the story on co-op? I'd like to see the campaign playable as co-op, the way Doom 1 and Doom 2 were. I hope those bastards will include it in a patch...How come Xbox has the co-op but not PC version ? crazy_o.gif Disgraceful.
