Banner competition

Hi all.

Some of this forums members would like to organise a Banner competition.

Prices and categories will be discussed in this topic.

The theme will be agreed within the participants or whoever will want to moderate or by popular demand.

I won't know about this until we get a decent amount of people wiling to participate and somebody that when the final date for submissions will upload the pictures to a host that will be displayed after the final date of submissions, by doing so no body will be inspired by any of the competitors submitted work.

I think that should be three (3) different categories:

1 Banner- Like the ones seen in web sites.

2 Signature- like the signatures used by posters in the bottom of each post, following the rules of this forums.

3 Animated GIF- a size and perpous for that should be decided before anything.

Personally I'm not interested in a wining prize, but we can talk about this in this topic, I would be more than happy with just a logo next to my signature saying that I kicked Drow's a## in a banner competition JK lol.

I think all this will take shape soon if people is interested.

Anybody willing to participate post your thoughts, and please, behave.

I can make some sigs, banners, animated gifs...

First of all, we need some judges who we can submit the finished "banners" too.

Edit: And maybe some sort of specific theme ?

Sorry, I had to add a cuple of words to that.

I was thinking more about that the signatures would have to be new ones, so you would have to work in a new one, but if you lot prefere to use old ones we can model the rules to that, I supose, nothing its been decided yet.

I thought about one entry per category, but you wouldn't have to participate in all three (3) categoryes, you may want to only submit for signature, or for banner, or for animated GIF, but only one (1) entrance per category.

Now, what theme we will use for the banner?

I thought about this themes.

OFP, ofcourse.

Military vehicles, weapons etc.

OFP editing, addons skins, missions, etc

The signatures could be of your own about you if you like, and they will have to follow the rule 4 of this forum rules

4. Signatures and Avatars

I think that a moderator would be a good judge to submit the entryes, that would make sense aswell.

i am going to push myself to learn animated gifs, and i will enter that part of the contest...

i made one Once (or twice :P), years ago, when i was first being taught to design, so u will have a good chance at kicking my a$$ in that catagory.

you should make a non-ofp related category, for people to show off true designing, Im willing to enter if that is decided.

Uhm, okey dokey.

But can we spect any kind of support on this from you guys?

Right, this is to anybody interested, we need judges, and somebody who will be wiling to recive and host the entryes as long as the competition gos on, if by the end of next week we still as we are I can't see this going too far and maybe this topic will end up in page 4 of this forum if no many people shows interest, so it will be a big failure and I will jump from a water tower to end it all, the biggest water tower around here its my boiler, 7Ft hight, so sorry guys you won't get read of me that easy.

About the Banner theme, the best thing I can suggest is addons and mission editing. Something reflecting that, can be easy to do, but to do it propley can be rader difficult if we are going to throw a meening in to it. So let your artist side come to live

Signatures, you can use your own signatures, old or new, big or small, but allways following the formating forum rules.

Animated GIF, I would let that one go if you lot think its going to be a waste of time, depence on how many people will apply for them.

We need more people in here to keep this rolling, so if you know anybody interested in participating or being a judge get him/her in, now, GO! GO! GO!!

Sorry mate, I haven't noticed your post.

If that is what people want then let it be, I personally don't mind at all, because it could bring alot more choices in what to do, so I'll take back what I said about addons and mission editing and just make it free stile if that' what you lot wants.

As long as we have competitors I don't mind ider way, but its not just me.

So should we just let it be free style? I don't mind.

Us guys as in Moderators or BIS? I could possibly offer my services as a judge, depends what would be involved timewise though, I'll be pretty busy for the next couple of months with the mission editing comp

Well Placebo, I'm not expecting anything from BIS, they should get on with OFP2, lol

I was about the moderators, I think that you lot would be more neutral when it comes to give opinions about somebodys work, because you guys are moderators and show that you have a responsability and are mature people I know that any of you would do it right.

That's not the problem, the thing is that they should be published at the same time by a judge, so the participants don't know what everybody ellses work loocks like untill the judges release the work to the public to vote. By doing so I won't be able to change my mind on what banner or signature to put in for the competition after I have seen somebody ellses posted. me and enybody ellse.

The main judge will recive the entryes and then in the due date will post them. I think its fare.
