Mcnool's pacific island

Recommended Posts

1. STEP: You must DePBO >>> Data.pbo in Res/Dta direcory, overwrite original files and with StuffPBO utility re-pbo Data direcory

2.STEP: You must DePBO >>> Data.pbo in Res/Dta/Hwtl directory ...and the same procedure

I believe you only need to do this to either data.pbo not both depending on which you run. I only did HWTL data.pbo and it works fine for me.

yea i only did one as well

but make pbo with compresson off still takes forever sad_o.gif

Quick question: I don't have Tonal installed, and I can't find the archive I downloaded it in....can someone tell me the .pbo name, I'm sure it's on my HDD somewhere.

For a future release could you ask bas if you could export their addons out and put them into yours so we don't haft to download tonal island etc, this would be esp handy for servers who don't use tonal (most) smile_o.gif

BAS_O

BAS_OPCPP

are the only ones needed (im pretty sure)

man i love this island!

just did a testi love sailin from port to port in my USCG ship.

i posted a mini story about the patrol in teh USCG thread and i was thinkin since you didnt properly name the island (in that i mean u said it was mcnools pacific island)

you should call it something nativy like i refered to it as "nagacheeky" cuz it sounds funny biggrin_o.gif

anyway heres my suggestion for updates:

the airport, as said before the buildings need to be moved further away from the runway, and how about using the runway textures from like midway or the nam maps. the dirt strip. make the whole thing a dirt strip instead of a paved runway. just my suggestion smile_o.gif

other then that i love it

and status_cz: your clear water textures freakin rock!

i suggest that anyone who knows how to install water textures get those textures if u run the midway island, this island, and perhaps tonal too. they blend in wonderfuly with all of them smile_o.gif

I would name the islands but I don't know how to add names to places.. I think It's done in the config but I dunno how...

Yeah I was looking for some dirt runway textures.. I might use them in the nam pack or something.. But that will mean that you'll need even more addons to play the map.

If you use ones from SEB Nam, most of us already have it anyway!  Plus, you could also just include the single file from SEB Nam it requires rock.gif.  Most of the files aren't over 5mb smile_o.gif.  Great work on the island.  Definately a keeper biggrin_o.gif.

the ones form midway are form sebnam. it requires the objectpbo which is only like 5 megs.

usin the BAS stuff wasnt so bad since almost everyone has BAS stuff.

my fav island man. thanks alot

I've added names to the map now but I don't know if it works yet...

And I can't find the sebnam textures.. They don't work sad_o.gif

If anyone could create some dirt airstrip textures that fit the normal Everon grass I would be most happy

Hey McNools, haven't had a go at the island yet, i'll be downloading very soon though. However, if this is still something in the works i was thinking you might be interested to know that i was on a three month vacation to the Solomons last year. I took home loads of photos which i was thinking you might find helpful.

Point your browser here for some of them:

I've more on my HDD, so don't hesitate to drop me a line of yer' interested.

Cheers,

Marcus

I have missing textures when I tried your island. White strips going here and there even though I have all the addons needed. I dont get any error message just land textures are all white somewhere. sad_o.gif

Any idea what could cause this?

You use FatWombat's hi-res textures, don't you. Well, so this is your problem. wink_o.gif

depbo original eden.pbo and cain.pbo and copy the missing textures to folders with depboed hi-res textures, then makepbo these 2 folders and here you go. wink_o.gif

I hope that was clear enough... lol. rock.gif

Hi, great island McNool. I am a noobie so please don't get mad at my question. Where did you get the clar blue sky, and nice turquise water? as suppose to the bad original textures? Can someone provide a step-by-step guide? please? if you don't mind. Thanks biggrin_o.gif

The skies look like Llauma's , although I can't tell which version. and the ocean looks like Status'.

Sky:

Water:

http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....t=39610

Although if you feel truly qualified, you can attempt to use the 'search' function...

i use kegs sky and status_cz's water. and his water is by far the most beautiful water ive ever seen. .. its frickin seamless even at long distances wow_o.gif

our USCG Pack will have 4 or 5 demo missions that will ALL be based on this island. mainly cuz i love flying over and looking out at these waters.

ive already informed our fans if they want to play the demo missions they will NEED this island biggrin_o.gif

its a wonderful island with lots of possibilities. not enough room for tank battles. but naval and infantry wars are good for this map. and especialy for USCG related operations. its small, yet civil. seems perfect for normal everyday noncombat stuff. nice to relax on or test stuff with.

thou try and get that dirt strip installed by our next release so your island wil be perfect then tounge_o.gif

I know I must add a dirt airstrip but I can't find a texture for it since I can't use the nam pack textures for some reason sad_o.gif

download AIA's Midway island.

use whatever textures they used. copy and paste it form one wrp editor to another? i dunno how wrp editor works

Pappy Boyingtons Moding Rules:

work first, credits later. do the work use their textures. . . finsih it off. show us pretty pictures. . .then go and ask AIA or SEB or whoever if u can use it. so when they say yes your already done. and when they say no. . . screw it you have a perfected personal version
