Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted April 15, 2004 lol, if you earn here about 3400 Euro/month then about 2000 remain after all taxes (or lets say obligatory payments). Â So dont challenge europeans when it comes to taxes!

m21man 0 Posted April 15, 2004 Fortunately, I'm still in high school, so I get to avoid filling the damn tax forms out . I'm also a tax credit on my parents' tax forms .
MLF 0 Posted April 15, 2004 Yes please dont talk about Tax, over here in the UK we pay over the top for almost everything.
Akira 0 Posted April 15, 2004 Only had to pay $56 here, mainly because I got married. Had I been single I would have gotten butt loads back. Oh well. I'll take the wifey any day. Next year we'll get some back.

havocsquad 0 Posted April 15, 2004 You unpatriotic, complaining cess pool for citizens. I'll just have to create a few OFP addons and Taxman missions with armed to the teeth tax collectors with m4's and m249's. The auditor addons will have their briefcases and calculators as weapons and will seize all OFP property owned by players in whatever mission they play in until they pay up the full amount. You put down too many deductions, and you're total net worth was 15 cents off. We're seizing your helo with your squad of BAS Delta's in there and and making you fight with a paintball gun alone against the JAM OPFOR until you complete the form correctly and pay your taxes in full. Heh heh heh he, the tax man comith.
bn880 5 Posted April 15, 2004 Taxes very low here and in the states, so I'm pretty happy. Compared to Sweden etc..
EiZei 0 Posted April 15, 2004 75% gasoline tax, 22% VAT and considerate amount of income taxes (depends on the amount of your income). Still I dont seem to mind.
MEDICUS 0 Posted April 15, 2004 Taxes very low here and in the states, so I'm pretty happy. Â Â Compared to Sweden etc.. WOW Sweded is tough! But at least they lowered (will lower /not sure atm) their tax on alcohol

Fuels is dirt cheap here, cheaper in the states. I want price of fuel up by 100% to get these tanks of the roads, I'll get a small car and put up with the price. Less pollution. GoOB 0 Posted April 15, 2004 Looks like we will have to lower our taxes on alcohol considering the constantly growing business of smuggling alcohol from Finland, Denmark and Germany into Sweden. I wrote an essay on the matter not too long ago. The taxes might be high, but we get so MUCH for them which we seem to forget about. Well most "normal" families won't notice it that much until they get a child with a chronical disease or something similar to that but this is really when the tax money shines through. Many people feel it's not worth all the taxes, because they aren't the ones who need the things that they are paying for the most.

You pay a 30% tax to the county. Add to that a progressive state tax that can be as high as 20%. If we take Albert's example of 3,400 €/month, you'd end up with something like 1,700 € after taxes. Apollo 0 Posted April 15, 2004 Taxers in Belgium are among the highest in the world ,i pay a almost 40% being in a better middle class ,rich class can easily pay up to 70%-80% in taxes if they earn really well. My neighbouring country Luxemburg feature's a 0% tax rate ,and man that hurts the eyes of many Belgiums.
Winters 1 Posted April 15, 2004 Wow, im really not complaining as i deduct just about everything as a business expense and would have had to pay twice that amount if i didnt. Since i am a real estate agent and use the public transportation system to get around with my clients (trust me they want to look at apartments and not be stuck in traffic) all of my Metrocards (the pre-paid passes that have discounts when you use them) are Tax-Deductible and also since i have to do a lot of walking during my business i also get to deduct all the shoes and sneakers i buy as well. This is all 100% legal

Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted April 15, 2004 nice stat denoir! But Ireland is out of competition. In the past they received so much EU funding. Since that stopped they have to look for other/new income. Same with spain in the future. 40% of the eu subsidies spain gets comes from germany!
theavonlady 2 Posted April 15, 2004 We're bona fide foreign residents. So not only do we extend our filing date but we get a nice juicy foreign earned income deduction. Just like Tyco used to have!
Frisbee 0 Posted April 15, 2004 Tax and social security paid by a worker and his employer reach half the total cost of employing him in Belgium. Hehe, we win from Sweden we win! This little fact however, forces a lot of businesses away from Belgium, the workers here are just too expensive to keep paying (however well-educated they are). The social security system is imho, a good thing though, only part i don't like is all the money flowing south to cover their piss-poor economy.

toadlife 3 Posted April 15, 2004 Sent mine in about a week ago. I get $4100 back from the governemnt, because we bought a house, and had to pay for my wifes tuition out of pocket - some kind of educational credit thingy. Too bad my refund will have to go towards various bills; owning a house is expensive.
