.....addons? Would you? I mean back to the basic 1.0 No Suchey's Marines, Sigma's tanks, BAS Rangers, DKM Havocs, zero, zip ,nada. I doubt I would, just because of the fact, that while the amount of units is ok, it's just not enough to provide me with variety. I mean, who wants to be US vs USSR vs Resistance all the time? I'd like to be Japan against Finland for a little variety. I wouldn't want to be the US Army all the time.......I'd like to take Force Recon for a swim in the swamps of Tonal, and I'd like to play on other places, and in other seasons than spring and summer. Winter.......I'd like to fly a CH-53 instead of a UH-60 all the time.

You catch my drift? In short, I wouldn't be playing OFP if it weren't for addons.

Thank God for all those people that make OFP better everyday!

If we didn't have any addons, I would have either dumped OFP or learned how to create addons a lot earlier.

gotta give you my honest NO on that one.. Bas, Suchey & Earl, Tales Of War (I still remember your marines!), CSLA, FDF, Operation Frenchpoint.. anyone i left out.. yup thank you.. you kept OFP:R alive..

and believe it or not.. the OFP Community. If so many people didnt play ofp i prolly wouldve let it get dusty on my shelf. So to all the ppl that pissed me off in the forums.. you need a few assholes in the community. Dont wanna get emotional on you guys but...

Um... I don't know. OFP has great freeform play, but I'd probably get tired of only playing on those few islands. The hardware and soldiers were ok, but islands like Tonal and East Border really make the game for me now. I've got wanderlust by nature, but not enough money to afford to go anywhere, so going to Tonal kind of gives me my African backpacking fix. And I get to carry a gun for self-protection.

I would say almost certainly YES.  I love the ability to just plop some stuff down in the editor and have a go at it.  Even if it was just the "stock" units.  Haven't seen anything to compare with OFP in the last 2+ years.  

Oh, yea some things looked sexy, and I even bought a few, but they all ended up in the category of "Wow, I finished this game now what" or "I wanna go up on that hill - Hey!! This stupid game is just a glorified maze" (MOHAA, COD, Generals)

OFP's great editor and ability to go anywhere are what I like best, and what makes me positive that I'd still be playing with out addons!

Everytime I play multi and the server is using BIS Russians, I swear it's my last game. It's the only time I can't remove original units completely from the game.

I can't stand it anymore. :P

No new addons = NO FUN.

EDIT: Yes, it's still the best game out there IMO but if it werent for modding...no way would it (or any other game) have the same shelf life.

My honest answer is yes..I`ve only got hooked up to addons after Resistance appeared.And until then I`ve still played non-stop Flashpoint..The most relaxing thing for me was: Put a UAZ on the map and just wonder around and be amazed by the amazing(yes I really liked Flashpoint graphics) detail.It`s the only game where I felt lost and I will NEVER forget the feeling BIS gave me.

But anyway I am sure BIS made the game with the idea of leting users create their own missions,addons,islands.One other thing,am I the only one who thinks that this 3 years old game is still the best game on the market,with unequaled possibilities?How can I move to other games when Flashpoint is still the best thing? And don`t give me that Soldner crap, not even OF2 could make me delete OF1..

Too bad that you didn't make a poll....anyway, my answer is NO. I would get so tired of the same units all the time, there are only so many scenarios you can do in OFP and combine a thousand times, the convoy ambushes, destroying AA guns etc. Heh.

It would get very repititive without nice addons to provide atmosphere and new toys to play with.

I agree, just walking around the new islands is fairly fun. Even without shooting a single round.

I have to say that I wouldn't be playing OFP as often as I do now had it not been for addons. I remember how bored I was when I just had a 56k line and hadn't discovered any addons/new missions.

Look at CS and BF1942, will they keep going without mods or addon ?
