Hahahahahaha. tounge_o.gif

Not only is this a churning for the American military (there is an HK plant right next to Ft. Benny, Georgia) but perhaps give initative to other european nations to equip their armies with such a rifle?

(lets face it, after playing FDF, you don't care how accurate the RK 62 is to real life, you just assume all AK clones suck and you ditch the finnish rifle for a real AK)

I mean if HK was able to make the SA80 a good weapon, than think of what can they do to the m4!! tounge_o.gif

AFAIK the SA80 is still much more prone to jamming than other common rifles and is quite unreliable, at least many reports from the British armed forces and in fact even some forum members, IIRC, say so.

And no, I didn't just read it on the Internet. wink_o.giftounge_o.gif

Don't forget how long it took the M16 to mature into a reliable weapon. The early version were also very prone to jamming.

Heh, I have no idea about that weapon but...

If you've ever played FDF, you'll know...

It's really bad.

I suppose you did not try other rifles while FDFMOD was turned on? wink_o.gif

In case you did not notice, all rifles accuracy and recoil has been modified, including west and east ones, not just FDF equipment. And IMHO 7.62 AK-47-clones dont get much better than RK-series in real life.

I know a Sergeant who is with Royal Signals, he does something with the armoury on their base, he has fired over 10,000 rounds with the SA-80 and has not had a single jam rock.gif

Anybody else notice two of the rounds in the above picture look as if they were misfires? I see bullets on the ends of the shell casings. rock.gif

How can you say that from one "fuzzy" image?

Also, IF they were missfires, the rounds would not have been ejected (and the soldier would have had to cock the weapon himself to eject them) and there's no way he could do that quick enough to create the effect you see in that pic (you'd also see his hand and the empty cases as blurs if it is a time-lapse image)

Edit: also, the fact that the "front" ends of all 4 casings are blackend indicates that they have been fired.

I agree with Deadmeat, those aren't misfires. However, the casings seem to look bigger than the 5.56 rounds I fire.

HK + M4 = Dream Gun smile_o.gifbiggrin_o.gif

The AK-47 was extremely reliable from the beginning and still is. rock.gif

OK, that was developed from the German Stg.44 but, say, the G36 is a new design, FN-FAL has always been reliable...so you see, a gun doesn't have to "mature" to be a decent weapon.

@Ex-Ronin, interesting. smile_o.gif There seem to be very mixed reports about the SA-80

From a business perspective, this is certainly a smart move for HK. They will probably make a killing on the civilian market with an AR15 clone, even if military sales don't flesh out...

I find it scary that H+K has a forum.. makes the idea of buying weapons which only purpose is to kill something seem more...trivial than it really is. I mean, who needs a submachinegun capable of emptying a full magazine in under 5 seconds to hunt dear?

But the M4 being made by H+K is a waste. It's not a particuarly great weapon anyway..

Those shells have been fired. The "bullets" you see is the tapered down tip of the casing, which houses the bullet. It has a sort of pointy look from the fuziness of the photo, but if you look at a non fired .223 round, then the photo, you will see that the narrow part would be much longer.

A full auto weapon for deer? It's the squirrels that you need to be worried about... viscious little savages they are. I wouldn't dare starting a hunting trip without an M4 in each mans hand, and at least an M2HB mounted on top of a pickup!

I think that's a rather biased point of view. One could argue those smgs are not made to kill but rather to move a small piece of lead at high velocity where the user wants it to be.

You see it is a matter of what you yourself think about weapons, it's not in the weapon itself.

If someone wants to have a full auto smg and has proven he's responsible enough why not let him have one?

Does it matter if he needs one? I think not. Since when is that a requirement to get something?

I could argue there is not really a need for everybody to have lets say cars with HP beyond a certain limit, or why do we need cars that go faster than lets say 100km/h? Does one really need one? Most people hardly.

And there are probably even lots of lives saved if we had a special permit for cars that can go faster.

Still a stupid idea, don't you agree?

And even implying a questionable morale of people who like to talk about their guns, on a military sim forum... I don't know, a bit hypocritical to me.

The idea idea of having automatic weapons available on the civilian market is ridiculous. What, are you gonna hunt a whole herd of dear at once? "Protect" your property with a machine gun? You only need's to be one question on the application for a firearms license: "Do you want to own a machine gun". If the answer is yes, then you are clearly not fit to own a machine gun. Maybe the some of the kiddies on this forum will learn of this when you grow up paralysed and impotent (still a virgin) with a bullet wedged in your spine...

If you wanna go play with guns move to the Congo.
