Stupid woman

I think they are just making her an example for other people who might think that joking about having a bomb in a crowded airport when an entire nation is scared shitless about terrorist attacks is funny..Eventually I don`t think she will recive 6 months in prison..

edit:Spoonge LMAO biggrin_o.gif

For simple humour you should receive 6 months in prison? Yelling fire in a crowded theatre is totally different, that can cause panic and mayhem, cop stopped her asked what was in the bag, she laughed and said the b word. Whats so bad about that?

It's exactly the same thing given the times currently upon the airline and airport business, or have you not seen the video's or stories of entire airports being evacuated and rescreened because one person slipped through, or someone had a pocket knife? Have you not seen the stories of people delibrately sneaking banned items through to test security?

Would you go to an IDF checkpoint and say you are a suicide bomber, as a "joke"?

It's common sense and some people just weren't born with it.

And it didn't say she has gotten 6 months, it says she is "facing" six months (similiar to yelling "Fire!"). She is awaiting trial. Most likely she will get probation or booted out of the country not to return for her boyfriend.

She cant afford the bail, set at $4,500 therefore she will have to spend 6 months in custody before she faces trial.

They don't need to make her an example. They have plenty already. Do a search. It's been done before and they all have been treated the same way.

we have a similar prob here, a french tourist coming back from Dominican Republic on an American Airlines flight spent a long time in the toilets because he was serverly .. how can i say .. well ..... when the air hostess asked him what he was doing after he went out, he answered he was making a bomb, as a joke but well . when he arrived on the american soil, he was awaited by american police service, he's now waiting for his judgement in an american prison cell and he could get up to a 4 years prison penality

"facing" six months. Not will serve six months.

It interesting the number of people defending her complete lack of common sense. She's been staying in the US. When on the news did she infere that that would be "funny" and not taken seriously?

Quote[/b] ]According to the arrest report, Ms Marson placed her bag on the belt at a security check, telling a Transportation Security Administration screener: "Hey be careful, I have three bombs in here" - before allegedly repeating the joke twice more when confronted by officials.

That is just stupid. As I said. Common sense anyone??

She is to be back in court on Feb 6th, charged with a misdemeanor (less than a year in prison), she is not serving six months, that is the likely sentence she faces. And with the attention this story has recieved, I'm willing to bet she just gets booted out of the country.

EDIT:Stupid spelling....

I know a girl who, just before the Iraq war went to the USA for a holiday. She had one of those weird pens with feathers and stuff that teenage girls seem to be obsessive about, and when asked what it was, she said sarcastically "It's a weapon of mass destruction."

5 hours later she emerged from customs tounge_o.gif

biggrin_o.gif May have been a tasteless joke, but it sure was funny.

Your missing the point Akira, she cant afford bail...therefore she must stay in custody untill the date of her trial....which is in 6 months time.

She has upuntill the 6th of Feb to pay the bail fee, which is the date she will first appear for premlinary hearings and her plea.

Can't some family members wire her the money? Or come and pay it?

Reading the paper today (the independent) and her father claimed not to be even to afford the money to fly out to see her, let alone pay the bail.

If that is the case, anyone who can't afford bail would spend the same. Should she be different?

If I was her I would look at the local bail-bondsmen....thats what they are there for.

Don't mean to be a hard ass, but she not only breaks the law once, which undoubtedly she is aware of as there are postings, not to even mention the numerous new stories about the same, but allegedly three times, and I'm suppose to feel sorry for her because "it was a joke?"

Uh uh. Given the state of the airline industry today, and the numerous news stories of the same ilk before she wandered into Miami, I think she got what was comin' to her.

If she ment it as a joke, it wasn't funny. Americans are taking security very seriously now.

"She hardly looks like Osama Bin Laden."

I say that is a bit out of line there. By that I think he means Arabs, and that is a bit "racial". Arabs shouldn't be viewed as terrorists all the time. They are merely humans with a different skin color, language, religion and ethnicity.

That was really a stupid joke. I think she diserves to be in that jail for that stupid prank.

I could understand that they fine her (for something like 'disrespect to the authorities' as she was making fun of an officer), but this case can hardly be described as a bomb scare. It's overreacting, that's all....

If I missed the point with the bail, every one of you is missing the larger point:

It's against the law!

If this had been an American, I guarentee there would have been a thread full of "arrogant American" posts and other nonsense.

Have any of you heard of the American Airlines pilot that was arrested in Brazil?

Quote[/b] ]He (Hersh) behaved in a mocking manner toward federal police and made an internationally recognized obscene gesture while he was being photographed for identification," Sao Paulo State's federal police chief, Francisco Baltazar da Silva told reporters.

Yes he was arrested to. Their country, their laws.

Let me see if I can make it simpler:

It's against the law

It's not funny. It's not witty. It's not making a politcal comment. It's just stupid.

i Agree with you ralph and i also think that it was entirely unappropriate given current situations

i remember on a programme the story of one guy.

he was from chicago,in an airport and had a violin case with him, and a fellow passenger (how stupid must the guy who asked this be?) asked him "whats in the violin case" but instead of stating the obvious, the man from chicago with the case, decided to make a witty reply to the other passenger(due to him being from chicago and chicagos past gangster history  "oh just a machine gun" the guy with the violin was duly arrested, now while partial blame can be put on him, i also blame the other guy who asked in "whats in the violin case  talk about stating the obvious in your own question!

The man in question was approached by two armed officers and taken to custody but later released. He was asked by a customs officer what was in the case, as it is their job. It was his mistake to make such a comment. What annoys me is that he didn't end up in jail and niether did the guy found with 4 rounds of assorted ammunition in his pockets, but the BRIT goes to jail.

American anti-britishness. Got to love it.

I find that the best thing too do is let here pay for the made expenses of that joke.

I mean the police costs, transportation maybe the delay of the flight.

That sum can get pretty high.

If she can't pay she should go too jail, it's that simple.

You're kidding right?

I know of at least two other Americans that made similiar comments and are locked up.

Anti-britishness? Thats a load of crock. Because she is British, and W. wants Tony to be happy this moron will probably get set free and kicked out of the country with little more than a slap.

"Anti-Britishness". Whatta load of crap that is!

Search "I hate brits" on google. Note most answers are:

* From americans on sites and forums

* started with "I don't know why, but..."

This is slightly offtopic, but you asked.
