BAS stopped posting in the official message boards due to some users that kept bugging them and they just kissed up in general. Well, they had made a post about it (or somebody) did and everyone was kissing up really bad "oh, oh, BAS isn't here anymore! please come back! please! we're sorry for bugging you!" and Hellfish came in, yelled at Avon for some reason (I forget why, something about being responcible for all the posters in the thread) and said "No, shut up, only I can kiss up. Anybody else who kisses up gets 24h PR." ...And thats why BAS doesn't post here anymore. Granted, they still make spectacular addons until this day, we just need to even the addons out for East. Does that freshen your memory? If I remember correctly, Avon made the post askin' why BAS didn't come around no more...or maybe not. Can't remember. "Oh, oh, when are you releasing x vehicle?!" "Oh, oh, y vehicle isn't being made enough for z OFP match!!!" "Oh, oh, can you please make x vehicle for us?!" "Make this now!!!" "Oh we love you BAS we love you so so so so much! you're the best addon team in the worlddd. Make more stuff for me!!!" Seriously, it's almost like having children (I assume, I have no personal experience, ask Avon). And why would I lie for something that is going to be put in the OFP Community History Project? Unfortunately i didnt have a net connection until late 2002, but i had OFP from the start, and would go round my mates, where hed show off the latest addons he'd downloaded. 1st unofficial addons i ever played with was winter kojugev (great job, it still rules, keg), desert everon, cant remember who by, pretty sure there were some MAF desert units as well.....ahh happy times....then i got the net and sold my soul to addon making Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
ebud 18 Posted January 23, 2004 What I would like to see are the dates of addons that were released that broke the limitations of the OFP engine. Stuff that was revolutionary. CoC Artillery for example, Cargo scripts for transporting vehicle, DKM's group radar system e.t.c.You know, addons/scripts and their authors whose hard work really made the community stand a awe of the new features that they brought to the game. hehe I have a few. No dates though as they were so old that OFPEC asked if they could take them down. Units - SEB Rangers and EBU Seal. Just reskins, but loooong before texview, texswap, O2, etc. Done by taking the screengrabs of paas from the overview (and learning czech), then figuring out how to make new units with jpgs. First unit addons out there other than reconfigs. Islands - Kegs Winter Everon and my and ST's Jungle Everon 1st Weapon - Kegs RPG29 For me, these are what set off the addon explosion. BAS thread why does it allways happen to us uncky 'fish? Ahh... memories, and not necessarily good ones but at the end of the day its all fun... I'd say the release of the first Nam Pack, then NP2 were two defining moments in OFP history, as they changed the way we thought about the game, period. BAS thread Ah, it isn't like that mate. I just thought it was funny everyone was begging BAS to come back to the forums and how you came in the post rambo style grenade-in-teeth. Because why? BAS is hot material, they still are. They're the N'sync boys of OFP. Popular, in high demand. But I respect their opinion to focus on their work and not waste time having codders of project x come on and answer questions about the project. Besides, who doesn't like surprises? I remember joining the OFP Community thru OFPEC back in Nov 2001, and watching OFPEC grow thru incarnations from a basic editing site, to a hoster of addons/missions, to the uptake of the TAG system by BIS, to the site it is today ... obviously excluding our soon to be resolved downtime.
