Thud_and_Blunder 0 Posted January 12, 2004 Bordoy: Quote[/b] ]To apply for pilot training you will need to join as an officer - only valid for the RAF, RN or direct entry AAC. Most British Army pilots are in fact NCOs, who must have set minimum standards of education, army experience and promotion recommendations. The starting rank for pilot in the Army Air Corps is Corporal. Although applicants from within the AAC are often successful, take it from me that the most elegible pilot applicants are those with "teeth arm" (inf, armour, arty, etc) experience. Learning to fly a helicopter is the easy part; learning how to operate it on the battlefield is where the skill comes in.
Major Gripe 0 Posted January 13, 2004 Nice to see that speaking the Queens English is still a requirement for joining Her Majesty's Armed Forces!! Quote[/b] ]The weight will then be increased rogressively after each succesful lift. Quote[/b] ]This measures the maxomum amount of force you can exert in a single lift. Munk 0 Posted January 13, 2004 Lol, so when you signing up? Where's basic training for an Ammo Tech? If its in Lichfield I might see you there
KJAM 0 Posted January 13, 2004 im signing up about septemberISH maybe sooner depends how much fitter i get faster :P Quote[/b] ]After basic training, Ammunition Technicians are required to attend a three-week Supply Specialist course. Training in Large Goods Vehicle driving is also required at this stage and you will attend an eight to ten week course at the Army School of Mechanical Transport. Formal trade training consists of five weeks at the Royal Military College of Science where you'll study basic ballistics, electronics and the chemistry of explosives. This is followed by 20 weeks at the Army School of Ammunition, to study the technical subjects of your trade. it dont say lol but if i were to go in for combat it would be basic and then on to Catterick i think lol, lichfield sounds familiar though EDIT: i have to get a grade C in my GCSE re-sits but if i dont i'll apply to be a driver for the Royal Logistics Corps *noe to self DO NOT drive like i do in ofp *

Munk 0 Posted January 13, 2004 id rather to the 1.5 run TWICE than the bloody bleep test thing Yeh, that bleep test thing is a bitch! Aslong as you usethe time given to your advantage it'll be easy, dont do it in 3 seconds if you got 20! Im running about 2-2.5 miles tomorrow at about 7:30am and hopefully everyday after that. Its great being right next to a beach    Edit: maybe we will be in the same garrison who knows Hey, I might even save your life after you crash/get carried away blowing stuff up

Baron Hurlothrumbo IIX 0 Posted January 13, 2004 A sat range isn't quite as advanced as VBS! It's basically some SA80s converted to have a gas pipe go up through the mag housing, that also has the same kit as a light gun for a console in it. So it's basically a very accurate light gun as you would use in an arcade or a console, which also simulates recoil and empty magazines. The scenarios you shoot at can be just ranges or action style simulated assaults. So its more like firing a weapon than VBS, but you can't choose where to go or anything.
