Next time you think sci-fi, think again

Recommended Posts

I think China is about to spark a new Space race.Their continues efforts to expand on space technoligy and to graduatly fill the gap with US/EU/Russia will bring them up to par with Europe and U.S in space technoligy soon.When they have landed on the Moon you know it will take the Chinese only an x amount of time to land on Mars aswell ,and then there will be nations that will want to beat China to it.

If everybody just came together I think this project will get done much sooner.

I was reading this life on Mars excerpt on the internet and they had videos of the Beagle 2.

Now when I watched this video, I could swear it was something even MORE sci fi than what you see in the movies.

Real Player Video -RAM file

WinMedia Video - ASX file

The video is of the beagle 2, entering the atmosphere in mars, and taking samples to identify if there is life on earth...

YOu gotta watch the video, it's pretty crazy.

Crazy? Why... It's a computer animation...!

Edit:

Quote[/b] ]The video is a computer animation of the beagle 2. The spacecraft itself will be entering Mars' atmosphere early on Christmas day.

So, no, it hasn't landed yet and those movies are technically science fiction, as none of it has happened yet.

Heh, Didnt see that

I am still amazed how we can even get an object so small to reach a destination so far away, and something we know so little about crazy_o.gif

In regards to the U.S. Mars Rover which is scheduled to *try* and land in January.

From their Flash feature:

Quote[/b] ]The mission is scheduled to last at least 90 days, or until martian dust covers the rover' solar panels.

Call me practical, but since they know this will probably happen, why not build a small apparatus into the rover that blows of the dust solar panels, or wipes them off? I can just see the rover being ther for 3 days and they dying when a small dust storm disables it's solar panels.

It's like building a car without windsheild wipers. crazy_o.gif

I think we already know the answer to that mystery of the universe...

And the part in the movie with big silver rod was pretty hot. Am I right?

<offtopic>

Were you joking? I hope so. SOrry, it's just that one film made by us dosn't mean we ALL say that. Lol.

nevermind.

</offtopic>

Anyway, i hope we do manage to get to Mars. I don't think we've had one space mission that i know of. But i'm no expert.

A larger view pieced together from other images. I assume the big glowing spot on the left is the sun.

They spent 1 billion dollars and waited six months for that shot.

For petrol money, I would have gone to Coober Pedy, taken a photo in colour, come back and say to them, look, I went to Mars. There's signs of duststorms, but no signs of life.
