If you're not as creepy as I find you to be on the internets then I might.

That's a puddle!  biggrin_o.gif  I've been up to my door handles in my old RR Classic (well nearly) and I had no snorkel either! That's a nice looking Ninety though and you've obviously kitted it out for some serious stuff ... so let's see what she can do!  tounge2.gif

Red Kite, that lake photo is really good, is that Wales again?

You had a Range Rover? Love them things, though I wouldn't want to get my Defender in water quite up to the door handles, I don't think the electrics would appreciate that, that ford is quite wide but it was quite shallow.

The last two pics that I posted were taken in the Lake District in 2004 (Buttermere & Derwent Water with rainbow).

This one is also of Derwent Water taken in the same week...

Hi Res

Yep I've still got my old RR Classic....

I have also driven 90's for work (towing trailers)

I now have a V8 Discovery....

Nicely converted to run on LPG, which at 14mpg around town is very useful!  tounge2.gif

PS. The trick of keeping water out of the engine bay when deep fording is to keep the engine reving under low range and keep up enough speed through the water so that you create a big bow wave in front of the bonet. This stops the water getting under the bonnet and flooding the electrics. It takes a lot of nerve though and is quite scary as you first plunge into the water!  biggrin_o.gif  Most of my fording has usually only been half way up the wheel arches and this is usually OK in a RR, Disco and Defender without any wading kit!  But you really need to keep up that bow wave at that depth!  wink_o.gif

Nice Land Rovers, I'm not suprised you got the LPG for your V8, I'm still waiting for a cheap enough quote to get mine converted. That Defender also looks great. smile_o.gif

That's some good work on the last pic biggrin_o.gif

heyo.

'couple weeks ago my uncle, cousin, father and I went to Stone Mountain Park for a hunting trip, which is a few hours West of Fort Nelson. Right at the Yukon border like. I ended up with a caribou, my cousin got a caribou, and my uncle got a grizzle bear. Anywho, I managed to take some decent photos. smile_o.gif

That's some pretty wild country there MrZig! Nice pictures but it is ashame that the middle two are under exposed. I've edited the exposure levels in those pics for you and you can now see much more detail ....

I just got a new EOS 350D a week ago, and I really like the new camera. I've had a non-digital EOS 300 for years, so I'm now very happy with this new toy!

smile_o.gif

My main question for now is whether I should get an additional lense (it was a present so I didn't get a choice in advance). I still have a good Tamron 28-200mm lense and also a cheap Solignor 100-400mm I bought for the old camera, while the new camera came with a 18-55mm EF-S. Unfortunately the old Tamron now translates into a 45-320 lense and the Solignor into a 160-640mm (pity it's only good in bright sunlight...).

I'd rather have one good all-round lense to cover my usual needs and only having to carry additional lenses when required. The old Tamron was the perfect lense when travelling, covering all needs from indoor pictures, landscape photography to great zoom shots (it's still great for the latter, even with the 350D).

Can anyone of you recommend a comparable lense for the new camera? Maybe something around 28-200mm again, as that proved quite convenient in the past.

[Edit: It's a Tamron, not a Sigma]

My mate has his Nikkor 18-200VR on all the time, and he is very happy with the range it offers. Maybe you should check out Sigma's or Tamron's counterparts for your 350D?

(Sigma's and Tamron's 18-200 both sell for about 300€, dunno about their optical quality though! )

The Tamron lenses are quite good usually. I'd consider getting a Canon, but they don't have anything similar as far as I can see. Over here the 18-200mm Tamron costs around 450€ (equivalent to a 28-300mm, which would be fine). They are usually worth the money, so I might think about one of those.

BTW: Some shots I did with the 18-55mm (no edits, only the beach scene was rotated a few degrees and some of the other pictures were cropped):

drying clothes at the beach:

A reconstruction of a medival trade ship:

At the beach at sunset - I had to use the 1600 ISO setting to get that much light (no tripod):

There's a long story behind this one, but suffice to say that if I didn't have a dubious reputation in school before, I probably have one now.  tounge2.gif

Oh, and it's a European adder, Vipera berus and the camera was my trusty FZ5.

BeeinWindowsmall.jpg

not the best pic ever, but i had a little fun shooting it biggrin_o.gif

it´s a honey bee that a moment earlier was cought in a bit of spider web, however, the spider decided it was safer to just cut the bee loose (you can still see a thread from the web on the bee)

the camera is a FZ7 (the replacementcamera for the same model Ares use) wink_o.gif

if anyone feels to touch it up a bit you´re welcome to do so and post the result here biggrin_o.gif
