Zombie addon!!

Hi Prototype, if I edit the crawling headless zombie, can we release that ASAP?

Hi y'all, I've COMPLETED work on the headless zombie's config.cpp and IMHO it's now ready for release, but I'll let Prototype have the final word.

Anyway here is what's new:

1) Zombie no longer screams when shot (how can it, it's head is separated from its body!)

2) Zombie no longer has weapon slots

3) Zombie takes 15 hits to kill - AI will target it with M16 now! It's a badass!

Sorry about this delay but I sent you an email. If you think its ready lets go for the release. Just add all who helped in the read me (this was a goup effort not a mod team thing). I have also sent you the p3d I have been playing with to make the addons. I'll have some time today so I'll keep working on the other zombies and dead body stuff. I have also started on the dead army guys. (hope you got some cool textures for them.) I even started on some dead cops for Resident Evil fans tounge_o.gif . I'm also trying to make the dog addon more into a zombie and trying to make it a wolf also wow_o.gif . (need more then dead guys to shoot at.)

I'll try and keep working on this every chance I get so we can have a Day of the Dead map to play on soon. (they just rereleased the dvd yesterday and I got it! biggrin_o.gif )

Email me if you got any questions or ideas. (if hunt and tracy agree we will try to make it happen).

Hi Prototype,

bit concerned that we might be thinking of doing too much at the moment. There's only 4 of us (me, you, Hunt and Murphy - well, Murphy is an honorary team member lol) involved in this work.

I would rather we concentrate on finishing the zombies, and then begin work on extras such as dogs etc.

However

1) If you do the army zombies I will be happy to texture them.

2) Any config.cpp work you require - I can do that.

3) Any scripting work - I can do that too.

4) I have never used o2 so can't do that sad_o.gif

Cool. I'll start off small and just work on the army guys.(they should be easy to do, just hope you got some really good looking textures for them wink_o.gif ) I got permission to use some of the cop textures from Capt Moores cops n fbi addon! So I'll make a beta cop zombie today. I also got permission to use the amazons for this so I'll make one female zombie today also.

Is anyone working on a demo mission yet? (I suck at mission making) tounge_o.gif

Also need a list of other zombie types we need.

Right, here's a list of what I think would make the definitive zombie addon:

EDIT:

1) Male and female zombies with various bite marks. Also zombies with no visible bite marks - these would be people who have died of old age, for example.

SPECIALIST ZOMBIES:

{

2) A zombie dressed in Doctor's clothing (black suit, smart shoes, with blood stained white shirt). We could then put Dr. Tongue's face on it. The animation for this zombie would be "shuffling" - a drunk-style walk

3) 2 versions of a naked zombie, 1 with & 1 without autopsy scars - if you watch Night of the living dead 1990, the 2nd zombie that appears has a large red V shape on his body, this is from autopsy.  No particular animation set aside for this chap, acts same as other zombies.

4) Tarman zombie - the famous zombie from return of the living dead. Basically a walking skeleton with greasy decomposed flesh. An animation would need to be done, to make the zombie "sway" wildly as it walked.

5) Body parts - GORE WARNING: NOT FOR SQUEAMISH

Bones, guts, scalps, skeletons etc (especially the skeletons)

6) Overturned buses, cars?

7) Anything else to add to atmosphere - TRAFFIC LIGHTS! That's it!!!! I would LOVE traffic lights. They don't have to work, they just have to look like the thing!

Yet again im in another IT lesson.

My PC should be up and running soon as my brother gets his new mother board so he can put my new pc together.

Any way i was woundering if any body skilled in Wrp.edit or wat its called,had some free time on their hands to make us a nice Ghost town/city island with a ruined city on it and tight inclosed spaces etc...

I think i suggested this earlyer in the topic but i thought i might as well repeat my self as this would be great for this addon pack/MOD.

also give it a normal city... cuz it would be bad with just destroyed citys and it will be able to make more missions on it.. like a city being attacked or something by zombies...

Mind you, "Drunken bloke simulator" © is a good idea... I'll copyright that idea now, then if you make it you pay the zombie team royalties, is that alright!!!! biggrin_o.gif

Heh, just thinking of a multiplayer game: zombies versus soldiers. Like Aliens vs Predator but more gory.

The soldiers have guns, but the zombies are tough and can only be killed by headshots... or LAW launchers, lol

the zombies have a sense of smell that tells them where the humans are at all times... and the humans don't. Cue much "oh shit! oh shit!" action at all times!

The zombies have only to bite a human, then the human will die immediately and come back as a zombie. When all humans are dead or a time limit expires, the round is over.

What do you think of that idea folks?

don't expect it until after Xmas. There's beer and parties to attend, ya know biggrin_o.gif

But don't worry, I am dedicated to producing zombies in OFP. (Despite the fact I think maybe I'm too old to be into zombies - 31 y/o - but I digress.)

Forget the gay zombies in quake, forget the talking stick insect half-life "they hunger" - this will be the definitive zombie addon like papa Romero used to make.

Day of the Dead rules, and OFP is an awesome way to realise some of those scenes.

You could do great "scout for survivors" missions in cities, much like in the intro to the film. Yes indeed, fighting your way into a building and escorting a couple of civvies back to your chopper, slapping back zombies at every turn would be great stuff. You could even bring in some kind of human conflict eg. the tension between scientists and military in Day, or even bring back the old biker gang from Dawn, led of course by the one and only Mr. Thomas Savini!

I can see it now...you circle a city in your Jet Ranger, watching the undead walking the streets below, retracing the numb routines of their mortal lives. You identify stranded civvies on the town-house rooftop and land in a parking lot to take an old Peugot Boxer. 5 minutes later you skid accross the council-house forecourt, smashing your way through zombies to back right up to the door. After fighting your way to the top floor the civvies join your team and you order them to climb down, then lead them back to the Boxer which your machine gunner guards from the advancing wave of dead flesh.

Meanwhile your chopper pilot has gotten overrun and taken off for the safe LZ out in the sticks. Safety is just a 10 minute drive away, parked in a green field where the sun is shining and the birds are singing. Only you've got just 5 minutes' fuel left...

This forum is borderline orgasmic for myself. I have loved the DOD movies for a long time, particularly Dawn and Day. These addons will kick ass. TT, I like your multiplayer Idea. Any chance you could just set up a map on Nogova in one of the cities for this?

-6 humans with small arms (Pistols mostly, some light submachine guns and rifles)

-1 of Martin's Bell 206 Jet Rangers for humans

-12-24 undead

I think the best part would be "Limiting" the resources of the living:

Chopper with 1/4 tank of fuel, so the pilot has to land some where to conserve instead of going into a "Holding Pattern" makes him/her more vunerable.

Pistols and lighter weapons as opposed to heavy arms. Alot of CZ pistols and other "Light" firearms to make kills more difficult and give.

Limited ammo. 3-4 mags for each pistol. 1-3 mags for each rifle. Giving the players some definant "Oh shit" moments.

Low light environments. That pic of yours with the M21- Priceless. I only saw one of the fuckers at first, the 2, no three more!  sad_o.gif  THAT was an "Oh Shit" moment.

Needless to say, I'm excited.

I hope you all like the finished product when it is all put together. The guys and I all love the Day of the Dead and can't wait to share this all with you. But you have to look at the best thing about this. This is not a mod but just a few guys sharing the same idea. We have no "leader", its just us. Noone is bogarting their addons or textures or configs. That is what I like about Flashpoint. Maybe if others would share their work they can have addons as cool as these. (By this I am by no means saying to do work on anothers addons with out asking for permission first!)

Now I know we have some super map makers probably reading this. So I ask if you can start work on a cool coop or tdm map for us to use when the addons are ready. (would personaly like to see it set on Tonal or Gaia island)

I would also like to ask if you have any addons or your hard drive that you can't finish or are willing to share please let us know. (we need some urban stuff like trashed news stands, garbage cans, some busted cars ect. ect.)

Hi all,

glad to see that people are looking forward to the work we produce. Prototype is correct in saying that there is no leader in the team, so there's no project plan.

Do you know that:

a) The first zombie addons are finished and are available on shell shocks web site (shell shock == D Murphy Man) - so why not start using them? If I make any changes, they will be backward compatible.

And...

b) The headless zombie is complete (as far as I am concerned, anyway biggrin_o.gif )

c) The crawling zombie with no legs is almost complete (Prototype, send me the addon again and I'll complete the config.cpp to edit the armour ratings.)

d) The arms outstretched anims are functional and ready!

So, if its alright with the team, we could release b-d before Xmas so people can start their zombie missions.. all we are gonna add are new zombie types and scenery, nothing more, nothing less. The TODO: list of work left to complete is mentioned in my last 2 posts or so.

Any modellers wanna help out with the scenery and overturned bus(es) etc?

EDIT:

I'm looking for people experienced in AudioEdit, who can remove background music from .OGG & .WAV sound samples. If anyone can help, you would advance the zombie project *A LOT*

A few questions/ suggestions for everyone out there-

1. Will the undead be capable of "Smart Actions". As in, will they be able to "Open Door", "Climb Ladder" ect.

2. Will they be player controlled or AI? I would suppose AI, but to control one yourself would be fun.

3. What type of map can we expect. I think any of the large city maps would be great. But BAS has done wonders with tonal, so that may be one to consider. When I think Zombies, I think of the opening scene in Day of the Dead. That large city, oh yes, the fuckers could hunt you down there.

4. Multiplay scenarios- Different MP ideas. By "Map" I mean anything: A city, the woods, a military base, etc.

Recovery- Retrieve 1-2 humans from the "Map" before the undead get to them. Like in the opening scene of Day of the dead.

Escape- Escape a undead ridden "Map", get to the "clean zone". The end of Day of the Dead.

and my favorite

Standoff- Kinda like death match, where undead have unlimited respawn and the humans (however many you like) are rewarded points based on how long they stay alive. Eventually everyone dies, but it's a game to see who the last man standing is, or who lives the longest. Like the entire movie "Night of the Living Dead" or like most of "Dawn of the dead."

Standoff could be played on Nogova, in one of those small 3-4 room homes with close-able doors. The undead would be all over the place, whoever lives the longest/ escapes wins.

5. Weapons- Like i mentioned before. SMALL ARMS. and possibly even high Dispertion like with the BAS JAM pack. Most of the people in the "Living Dead" scenario have little or no experiance with firearms, so, they should be less accurate. Otherwise these maps would be HORRIBLY unbalanced, I could sit aside all day with a CZ-75 and pop the suckers from 50yds. But if I have a HD weapon, it gets tricky.

Suggestions- Most of these could come strait from OFP.

Pistols-

CZ-75

Makarov

Beretta

Glock

Revolver

Shotguns-

Pump 12 like DKM's mossberg

Submachine gun-

MAC-10s or UZIs

Rifles-

M-16A1 or A2

M-14

Ar-15

Bolt action with scope

The possablilites are endless.

Im pretty Ill at the moment and i got my old PC set back up. Its  piece of shit but hey better then nothing. any way ill get on making a decent example mission since ill be home recovering insted of getting drunk and waking up next to tesco trollys rock.gif .

Is there any updates on the animations? the ones i got are too slow.

In answer to Merc's questions:

1. Not in my universe, maybe the other developers though. I am basing my maps on the Romero universe, where men are men and zombies are dumb.

2. Either. We provide the tools, you write the map. But I definitely want some MP player vs zombie action. It'll be the first ever game (and I mean, EVER) that lets you play a zombie.

3. I'm using Skye at the moment. Big towns, loads of countryside and plenty of space for scary shit zombie missions.

4. Can't see me programming that, but once we release our addons I would think other people could.

5. Oh fuck. Now you got me stumped. Me and o2 are like water and oil - we just don't mix. You'd have to ask prototype, hunt or murphy that. I prefer to texture and do the script work biggrin_o.gif
