Also, couldn't you have one version of the Lost Island for cable users, which would contain everything? Then you could also have a "56k Friendly" version downloaded in seperate chunks? It'd be the same stuff, compatible with the cable version, except in a form more practical for 5.5kbps download speeds . I'd sure get every chunk, it's just that I simply can't get more than 80MBs or so of stuff in one night (When nobody needs to use the telephone ).

Little do they know the warlord is connected to a well organised ex speztnaz/kgb military group which has ties to all terrorist groups around the world and are the main supplier of arms. Their new main head quarters is the island................will D/R succeed, or will it bring back memories of a half complete mission ............

This wont happen, we suggest using a download manager that allows you to resume the download (like getright or DAP)

(plus many of the BAS team are 56k'ers anyway (including myself) and we've been downloading and testing numerous betas too... just leave it on overnight, you'll survive)

I'm in a house in the woods, about 2 miles from a road. DSL isn't available, and the mere act of digging the cable trench would probably come in at about $50,000. I haven't figured in the cost of 2+ miles of pipe .

OK, fine, I'll have to go with a download manager (Or see if I can convince one of my cable friends to get it for me ). I've got two questions about download managers:

A. Can I restart the download at any time? As in, can I disconnect, turn off the comp, and come back 12 hours later.

B. Are there any free, reputable download managers that aren't loaded with spyware?

1. u can resume from when u left off for as long as the file is at the same link as u started it with

2. getright is free but has a limited amount of time although its not that much to pay for

there is also Fast Downloader which is free but not as good

just look on the net for them ull be surprised how many there are

As far as I know you can skip buying it, but keep using it. Everytime it ask you if you want to buy it just wait 30 secs and then press ok.

I've been using getright for about 6 months now, and all you have to do is wait for the "OK" button to appear (after about 30 seconds) to get rid of the little "buy me now" box.

The free trial lasts about a month...

Well, I've already got GetRight and I'm doing a large test with it by downloading the FDF MOD. I guess I'll quit complaining about my shitty modem and get ready to rumble on the Lost Island. Speaking of which, what kind of units are going to be included with the Island ? Is it just infantry with new, JAM compatible guns , or are there going to be vehicles outfitted for the jungle too?

will we have caves like we saw on Cat's Afgan map? that is if this has high hills? also wat sort of bases can we expect i like doing missions that u go in a blow p scud sites or Sam Sites will there be any good bases that gives a good scene of this?

Until the AI is vastly changed, caves would be worthless except possibly as placeable objects in the editor. You could use a cave a hideout for one man, but that's about it. Still, caves are awesome (I have Cat's Afghan map ).
