Quality building and object pack

Im currently working on a large building and object pack, for ww2 european theatre, as all the ones i've seen are pretty shoddy.

any suggestions on what you want to see in it?

images would be useful too.

One of those stone bridges for small rivers they seemed to be every where in europe at the time.

Perhaps a nice stone fence for the farms

Partially destructed buildings would be nice...like a multi storied building with huge holes in the wall exposing the inside...dangling crossbeams, severed wires, etc etc. Buildings where you can be both insode and outside depending on where in the structure you are biggrin_o.gif

I'd like to see some kind of small factory, a hotel, a sawmill, a town hall, and some other stuff like that. Optimally, I'd love to see things that would look fine in modern OFP as well as in a WWII setting.

And maybe you could make two versions of your buildings - one normal, undamaged one, and then if it gets blown up/destroyed, it can turn into a damaged model (much like the Mi-2s from Our Weapons turn into wreck models when destroyed). It would be a lot nicer than having the "crumpled paper" default damage and we could run around in/on the damaged building. smile_o.gif

I guess I'll add in this thread that a lot of nice new objects by AXE will be added in Trinity island as well...

Destroyed Church. Much like the one from MOH:AA - The Hunt mission.

A Silo, from snipers to hide in and shoot out of.

Big 2 Storey houses.

A Flour Mill.

Destroyed Fences.

Wooden Farmland Fences.

blah blah..

If you have any of the recent Medal of Honor games, im sure you can get some idea's from them.

Would it be possible to get the house/buildings models from Medal of Honour and import them into OFP?

Thatd make the job a whole lot easier...

If anyone knows if its possible to import/convert medal of honour maps into 3d studio max, then it would be easy to use that stuff, i know weapons have come from the game in the past, so come on spill the beans, how do you do it?

Im not sure if you can but you might be able to import models from MoH:AA. As for another suggestion, id like to see the one orthodox church from ghost recon. I know, ghost recon is modern warfare but the church had no modern things attached to it.

I agree with the above request to try and make items which fit into both a ww2 setting as well as modern era settings if possible. Heres some more ideas:

-a church with a belltower for snipers

-bunkers for tanks

-shanty type shacks

-climable telephone poles

-destroyed/wartorn buildings of any type (think 'Saving Private Ryan' where entire interiors of buildings are exposed and make for some good areas to set up positions)

-a large 'Challete'...would come in especially handy for ww2 missions...could be used as headquarters for the Axis, etc.

My oppinion is that buildings in OFP should have an abandoned feel to them...dark, dreary, damaged, etc...that way it doesnt seem odd that there is nooen around except for soldiers. Looking forward to seeing some screens of your work! Good luck!

Some destroyed civilian vehicles would be nice, the problem is that they would'n be too good for modern day missions, at list they are well destroyed, where you only can see a bunch of torn metall and the eskeleton of the seats and the chassis and engine.

If you do some destroyed buildings you could do one(or more) with a destroyed vehicle next to it and some rubble on top, like if the building colapsed on top, if you make the building and vehicle wallkable like the Blackhawk crash site addon, it would be a really nice spot for snipers.

A gramophon(spell?) and old fasion radio would be nice for the atmosphere.

A cuple of billboards and some German propaganda stuff would be nice too( If the missions are based on Germans wink_o.gif )

Some sand bags put on a messed up way, like if the position is been hit by bulles and bombs.

I can't think right now, I got the kids messing about and shouting and I have a headeche... crazy_o.gifcrazy_o.gif

I wouldnt mind making a mission where you're in a Concentration Camp.

So some concentration camp style buildings(crematorium, showers/gas chamber)/fences/gates/watchtowers/searchlights would be good.

Yeah a Concentration Camp would be pretty nice.But making it look right is another story.I wonldnt mind haveing maybe a Barber Shop.Or other stores and shops to messwith.Maybe even a old looking brick road with a sidwalk.And maybe a EH? never mind.

So long as you keep it.....tasteful (respectful?). You know what I mean. Some people...not necessaraly anyone on this thread....might have the urge do make a concentration camp less than tasteful....and that would be unfortunate. A lot of people are rather sensitive to this issue. Not myself in particular, but I understand those who are. Just a heads-up, that's all. smile_o.gif

steer well clear of the concentration camp idea.

does this have any place in any 'game'?

it would be at least as distastefull as asking for a world trade centre that would collapse when hit by a plane.

we have an incredible community sharing OFP lets not cause any divisions.

how about making a POW camp instead.......? sad_o.gif

Ya, cool. I saw "concentration camp" and thought "Ohh...". POW camps would be excellent. There was a cage released a while ago....maybe talk to the author and expand from there? Plus Axe (I think) made those little sheds based on the VBS ones. Search around, add in some BIS barbed wire etc etc and I think you could put together a very nice addon (island??) in a relatively short period of time smile_o.gif

I would like to see a 'shanty town' made, from a third world country. The kind of buildings that refugees would live in. They frequently appear around larger cities and are made of bits or corrugated iron, wood and plastic sheets and other waste items. I think you get the idea.

Something like this would be usefull to people making missions in the thirdworld, such as Africa, Middle East etc

Im making a ww2 island and realised the lack of good ww2 buildings as many of the existing ones are un-appropriate.

Here's a list of what I would like to see included ( but its up to you what you include):

1. Barracks on stilts,

2. A town house,

3. A nice old church with tower for snipers,

4. A ww2 style harbour capable of taking half decent sized ships,

5. WW2 style houses (better for me if they are like the ones that were on the small pacific islands),

6. WW2 style airport buildings... ie. Control tower, Radar (very important  wink_o.gif ) and a Hanger (maybe somebody made one already? rock.gif )

Thats about it... wink_o.gif

There are a lot of OFP buildings that are suitable for WWII. I44's Sicily Island, which is nothing more than a slightly modified Malden, pretty much sums up what's already available in-game.
