Longinius 1 Posted June 20, 2003 Good bye, Denoir. Sad to see you go, especially on those grounds. If that is considered flaming I am quite suprised when its compared to statements by certain other people. Also I want to know if these forums will raise sanctions against the UN and ICC for their definition of ethnic cleansing? I mean, stop those darn human right activists right at the door, especially if they have the guts to speak up against America or Israel. Wait, am I flaming now? Hmm... Any way, sad to see you go. I'd like to keep in touch, so if you see this throw me a mail at hultberg@hotmail.com. You've been a great source of information, a good online buddy and a very interesting person to dicuss with. (Just like the people on the opposite side of the infamous fence I might add)

-TU--33ker 0 Posted June 20, 2003 This whole affair sucks! It's very sad to see Denoir go. He always was a very reasonable person IMHO. I often shared his opinion, and I always thought it's good to have someone opposing the right-minded conservative members and keep the "powers" in balance. Goodbye Denoir! We'll miss you. GoOB 0 Posted June 20, 2003 Denoir, it is sad to see you leaving... You were and will always be my favourite moderator and one of the coolest people on these boards. To bad you had to leave for expressing your sound opinions. I will miss you, you have done so much for these boards and as others have stated it is sad to see you leave. As SpeedyDonkey said i hope you stay in the OFP community one way or another (get on IRC for christs sake ) Good luck and stay opinionated you little rascal. Postduifje 0 Posted June 20, 2003 It's indeed a shame to see a good contributer to the argument leave, but you had your reasons for it. You'll sure be missed by all of us. -Post

NurEinMensch 0 Posted June 20, 2003 Goodbye Denoir. I know I haven't posted much but I was reading the OT every day and as it was a part of my live so were your posts which I mostly enjoyed very much. Contrary to most other posters in this thread I kinda saw this coming when the death row thread was locked. I respect your decision, but it still makes me feel sad. Fare well Denoir. crashdome 3 Posted June 20, 2003 No one ever wants to see something like this... but it proves that even moderators are only human. Best wishes, perhaps we shall cross paths again. I can only hope.
chris 0 Posted June 20, 2003 Outrageous! There is something terribly wrong with the management of this board when the best and most liked moderator feels forced to quit. Whoever pushed Denoir into this should resign immediately as you have caused this board irreparable damage! I'm not the one to judge if his post was ok or not but I know that the forums will be much worse off without him. Denoir, I'm very sad to see you leave but I very much respect you for standing up what you believe in. I blame those who should have done everything to stop you from leaving, but apparently did not. Best of luck, you will be missed. r. Chris
Jinef 2 Posted June 20, 2003 I really will miss you Denoir, It's so nice to have someone to look up to and to help formulate my own opinions, if i knew any Swedish i would say something nice and signifigant, but you'll have to do with the thought. If i was a girl i would be crying, as it is it's only the high pollen count. From this board you can tell you will be very much missed, apart from a few exceptions (if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all). I shouldnt even feel like i have to spoil my post with this, people are unbelievable It's not just me, i also represent the voice of about 5 people here who read the forums passively (explains as my point of view may quickly skip from one point to another! ) and they will also miss you. If you actually remember me, little peon Jinef who handcuffed himself to your feet, get in contact, we can play OFP together (Zeus Addon or something), Jinef@ntlworld.com or Jinef@hotmail.com, latter is msn one and backup, i only ever check the inbox if something goes wrong with my other one. Hmm not to encourage national sterotypes or anything, but don't do anything drastic! Good Luck m8...... I LOVE YOU! Ahem...*cough*...anyway
Badgerboy 0 Posted June 20, 2003 I was bitterly disapointed when I saw this thread. People have said far, far worse things with no proof or backup behind them and get PR'ed. Its a shame that people use the 'old boy network' to accomplish petty vendettas, which has resulted in one of the most wellknown and hardworking members of this forum to leave. I can't blame Denoir for refusing to apologise for something which in normal circumstances would never get to this level. Denoir, I know you feel you must stand down as a mod, but it would be a great loss to all here if you left the forums for good. Please consider staying on, if only as a casual poster. I often refer to points and discussions you have made to my friends and co-workers, which is a indication of the impact you have in these forums and the community as a whole. I could go on about the injustice therein, but it won't achieve much. Denoir, drop me an email at some time badger.boy@ntlworld.com Cheers

Placebo 29 Posted June 20, 2003 Ok I've tidied this up and deleted/edited the irrelevant comments. Firstly the final decision as to what to do about the Avon/Denoir situation was mine, I made the decision myself and it wasn't influenced in any way by anyone else. So don't go around blaming anyone else please. If you have issues with the decision then feel free to PM me with any questions/comments you may have. All moderators & Bis have discussed the incident in the moderator’s forum, what was said in there was private; I’m only prepared to give my opinion here. Upon reading the thread in question after the event, I felt that both Avon and Denoir were guilty of flaming/flame baiting, as the rules state that is a punishable offence, obviously we moderators also have to abide by the rules of the forum. As moderators I believe we have an obligation to set a good example to the rest of the users of the forum, I felt that we couldn’t expect forum members not to flame each other when a moderator does the exact same thing. As far as I was concerned letting it go would make me a hypocrite the next time I had to post restrict someone for the same offence. I felt that Denoir's behaviour had in a way brought the moderators into disrepute, therefore I felt the only course of action was to ask Denoir to make a brief apology to the forum as a whole, I felt that an apology to Avon was not necessary as the "argument" struck me as a mutual one. I therefore asked Denoir to apologise, I also said to him that if he refused to make an apology that with regret I would have to request that he resign as a moderator, of course I strongly hoped he wouldn't, I wanted him to stay as much as the rest of the moderators and Bis wanted him to stay, but I felt his actions were such that without an apology his future here would be untenable. Denoir felt that he was unable to sway from the fact that he felt his actions were just, therefore he chose to resign. Avon has been given a 1 week PR and a warning level of 2 for her part. Without doubt the message I sent to Denoir asking him to apologise or resign was the hardest thing I’ve done in the years that I’ve been a moderator in the Opf community. I’ve enjoyed working alongside Denoir and like most people I was very disappointed when he told me his final decision, even though I felt his actions were wrong I have to respect him for having the courage of his convictions. As far as I’m concerned this is now the end of the matter, hopefully Denoir will continue in the community and perhaps even find a new “homeâ€. As I said above members are welcome to contact me with regard to this matter, this however is the one and only thread that will be allowed on the forums.
