Whatever. Now, the lack of obvious weapons and my personal favorite of BF1942 hatred, Kursk.

BF1942 contained only British and German weapons. The Japanese and Soviets are stuck with K98s and Lee Enfields as well as an Mp-18. Any firearms collector, can spot the problem here. As well as anyone who played MOH Spearhead.

The Ruskies had one of the best SMGs of the whole time period, the PPsh 41 with a 71 round drum magazine. Why the hell they didn't include this is a mystery to me...

Now, Kursk, the site of the largest tank battle in history up until the Gulf War. Reading MANY historical accounts from both sides, you find that Kursk was a large and open grassland that was used for farming, like wheat and corn. In BF1942, Kursk is a Pine Forest that even includes a Saw Mill. My exact words were: What the fuck?!

That, my friend, is something everyone knows. smile_o.gif

Just a second though and enlighten me, what weapons did the Japanese use? I've never really seen any reference to what they actually did use.

I really dont care whether it's historically correct or not.  As long as i enjoy it its good. I have some probelms with the sound in BF so every thing and every one sounds like squirrels, witch is quite amusing but destroys the game play. And after a while i found BF boring and quickly went back to ofp. But im not one of those whining and crying about it, and i really don't see any reason to whine, whether you like it or not.

Wow, you just said everything I've been trying to say smile_o.gif Not to insult, anyone. I guess SpeedyDonkey worded it in a way I couldn't.

The list:

Type 38 Arisaka 6.5

Type 44 Carbine 6.5

Type 99 Arisaka 7.7

Type 14 Nambu 8mm(Pistol)

Type 92 HMG 7.7mm

Type 99 LMG 7.7mm

Type 96 LMG 6.5mm

Type 100 SMG 8mm

All of the above is regarded as "crap" by collectors.

The Japanese also had their share of grenades as well as the occaisonal sword.

I guess your going to ask about Russian Weapons now.

Nope, I already have a vague idea of their equipment. But thank you for the Japanese stuff.

There's a good documentary on the history channel on Japanese weapons of WW2.

Sorry I had to run to work. mad_o.gif

Anyway yeah it just ended. It's part of a program called "Tales of the Gun"

http://www.historychannel.com/global....ode=THC

Scroll down to 3-4pm.

According to their website they're doing US weapons of WWII on the 15th and 16th, but I don't see any more Japanese weapons of WWII.

This is the history channel though, I'm sure they'll play it again.

^^Flaming and idiocy all in one. Dont bash the ones that play BF1942 because you want it all historically correct and unbalanced. I wouldn't want to play OFP if the yanks had a 100% advantage over the russians. What fun is a game if you win all the bloody time? (like you would if you were on the German side of the game) I dont like the game all that much myself but i have had some fun moments with it.

And yes it is a shame this title was published under EA who always rush their developers into releasing half-assed games. Russian and Japanese weapons would be very nice, aswell as American ones. But it's not that big'a'deal.

The one I want to see, is the complete history of Russian Firearms.

I saw it. It was really cool. They showed a soviet helicopter transporting Soviet troops from the 50's. wow_o.gif

I beg to differ. Who's rifles have technical difficulties caused by complexity? wink_o.gif

Doesn't even have a garand.

I mean COME ON! mad_o.gif

Why would a US troop be using an enfield?

On second though, I won't consider this game anymore.  I might even sell my copy on ebay.

I can tell you why the US soldiers do not have Garands. This is 1942, enfields were still the primary rifle used by marines and most army units. The garand was not in full production and distribution until the end of 1942, early 1943. wink_o.gif

US Soldiers NEVER carried Lee Enfields. They may have carried M1903 Springfields up until '42.

As for it being '42, Berlin was not under siege in '42. US Marines did not invade Okinawa in '42. Arnhem was not in '42. The Battle of the Bulge(Y'know, Bastogne) was not in '42. The STG44 was not in '42. Kursk was not in '42.

Enfields? Oh shit, I wasn't paying attention. Yes, model 1903 Springfields! I should know that, I need to get some sleep.

I dunno about you, but the Title of this game is Battlefield:1942. Now why the hell would they add those battles that happened after 1942? Because they are stupid. If you game is called 1942, then have battles that happened in 1942!!!

Well, I tried the game. A friend of mine told me a story of a great game he had so I couldn't resist. Anyway, good game, bad gamers. The helicopters are flyable (but you still get the noobs who can't fly, but try to learn to fly with a ship load of people) with practice, and it's an alpha so a lot of this is excusable.

and the players seem like they're from the CS crowd. I assume BF1942 has players like this all the time but i dont know. i guess some of them just migrated over to EOD.

it's a good game though.

Instead of insulting me, howbout you answer my question you little ****. I dont take shit from people very well. Dont push it.  mad_o.gif

I don't even understand your answer at all. Are you drunk or something? All you have done is say all the battles happened after 1942? Even though the title of the game is Battlefield:1942? That makes no sense at all, so howbout you answer my question properly, or can you?!

Question: Why did they make a game about battles in 1942 and put in official maps that have battles taking place after 1942? Or must I contact Electronic Arts to answer this?  mad_o.gif

Something about the offtopic forum that makes it so hostile...  mad_o.gif

Have any of you tried the game (eod?) yet?

yes. I wish I hadn't, and it was against my better judgement after playing the demo... but I did. The Stalingrad map is a travesty.
