Awesome model Scorpio!!!

Some flaws that I've noticed that you might or mght not want to correct. First, Your model currently depicts a CH-53D and and not the Echo. Delta model has TWO Engines and the Echo has THREE. SEcond, 53's are equiped with up to 3 .50 cal M2HB machines guns during combat deployment which are mounted in the crewchief stations along with a single MG mounted on the loading ramp.

302_Dragon...Semper Fi

When you posted the pic of the Echo with the "22" on the nose i just about had a heart attack.

I have TWO older Brothers that were stationed at koniowi* pardon spelling please. Both flew with Hmm 262 "flyinh Tigers" during the late 80s and early 90s. oldest bro flew 53Ds and the other flew Frogs (ch-46s). Cant wait to show him the pic of "his" "$hitter" biggrin_o.gif

Well OntosMk1, you tell your brothers I said Semper Fi. Let them know I'm with HMH-463, The Mighty Pegasus. We were on the front page of the Wall Street Journal a few months ago for our efforts with the Anti-terrorism within the Phillipines. I'm sure it will make him proud to know the CH53D's are still in the fight.

As far as all the bugs with Scorpio's CH53...I've already informed him...lol read the whole thread it gets quite ammusing. I am consulting him and sending him research data to help him fix it.

Miles Teg;

US Marines were wearing standard woodland MOPP gear ("chemical suits") in Iraq. Only when the marines reached baghdad, they no longer were required to wear the chemical suit. That's why marines in baghdad were wearing desert cammo.

Helmet covers in Iraq were a mixture of MARPAT and "coffee stain" 3 colour desert.

MARPAT MOPP gear has not been made yet. A lot of gear will remain standard woodland for at least a few years (Backpacks, chemical suits, Load bearing equipment). I believe they will start replacing them with MARPAT gear around 2008.

Scorp your CH53 is fantastic. I love seeing the beast fly in over the hill.

I was using Snyper's rappel script and the loons rappel from the tail rota. I know SF guys are good but f### me!

Keep up the good work.

A fan

Hey there, just to let you know, the update is just the bugfixes and a few other minor things added on.

- Gearup sound error: fixed

- Ability to walk in cargo: added

- Poor Handling: fixed

- Jungle camo LOD textures: fixed

- Invulnerable fire: fixed

- Bullet hole textures: added

Now after this update, there will be another one, but the CH-53E will more or less totally redone. So you can look forward to that. smile_o.gif

Cool, but what about the engine sound? It's not loud enough. With the CH53 hovering as far as 200 meters away from me I can barely hear it.

For comparision, BAS MH47E is audible from more than 1km. rock.gif

Where's the black version? That's all I ask. Also is it possible you could add the ability to fastrope from it?

The black versioni I think you're talking about is the MH-53E Seadragon. It doesn't have the same body model as the CH-53E. However, I'm still working on it, along with the MH-53J.. but I'm putting them aside until I finish this CH-53E.

Oh and the fastrope... I had a terrible bug that everything acts under the tail area... so I took the fast-roping off. Please don't ask for too much - You can't get everything up to perfect standard.

hey, if we can't fastrope than what do we do?

WHAT..?...LAND....? ARE YOU NUTS! You don't LAND!

biggrin_o.gifbiggrin_o.gifbiggrin_o.gifbiggrin_o.gif

Marines don't fastrope out of their choppers anyway. They have seals secure the landing zone before they send in these big birds. So there's no need for fastroping other than that it looks impressive.

so don't worry about it Scorpio

No actually his "theroy" doesn't suck. What the pic shows is an excercise for fastroping onto ships. This is done for boarding ships. However in OFP while it's possible to fast rope onto a ship, your AI just fall into the water. It would only be useful for multiplayer missions assuming you don't fall through the ship while roaming around on the ship.

Still if Scorpio has time, it would still be nice if such a script could be made for it just because its fun to use. I LOVE the fastrope script on the Operation Frenchpoint Puma helicopter (the one with the hoists). It is just superb!!!

Not only does his "Theroy" not suck but the pictures you posted are of Marines fast-roping from CH-46 Sea Knights, not CH-53Es wink_o.gif

OK so you managed to do a search for fast roping Marine pictures, good for you, but think a bit will you? When do you think the need would arise for Marines to fast rope from a helicopter, apart from when boarding a ship that can't accommodate a CH-53E? Because I can't think of any... rock.gif

See if this link works:

Document i found on usmc.mil

Anyways, in it is a part about marines being injured during a 'fast rope landing'.  If it doesn't work here is what the section says (its under section C, injuries).

Quote[/b] ]C.  INJURIES

(1) TWO MARINES SUSTAINED SERIOUS ON-DUTY INJURIES IN DECEMBER.

A LCPL FROM 3/6 SUFFERED TWO FRACTURES AND A DISLOCATED RIGHT ANKLE

DURING A FAST ROPE LANDING.  A PFC FROM 1ST CEB SUFFERED EXTENSIVE

LACERATIONS AND POSSIBLE LOSS OF PORTIONS OF HIS LITTLE FINGER

AFTER HIS HAND WAS CAUGHT IN A FAN BELT DURING MAINTENANCE REPAIRS

ON A GENERATOR.

Why would the Marines not use fast rope landings? They may need to deploy troops in an area that has heavy vegatation where the helicopters would not be able to land.

Dragon can probably correct me on this if I'm wrong, but I believe, if I'm not mistaken, that it is bad practice for a large helicopter like the CH-53E to hover in a dangerous area while large numbers of troops fast rope from it. However the more I think about it, the more that I realized there are situations where this is useful such as when landing zones are known to be heavily mined.

Anyhoo.... overall not a big deal to me, but if that feature could be included on the next CH-53 addon then that would be cool.

I totally agree Miles. I'd think fastroping in OFP is pretty much pointless... You can spend less time landing the damn thing than actually lining up, auto-hovering, and determining the correct hight, for fast roping. Although fastroping might be quite useful in urban areas where there are many interfering obstacles, I wouldn't think they would be much use in OFP since there arn't many urban areas on these islands. If you start fast-roping, say, on the runway and trying to attack the airport, and there are enemy soldiers quite nearby, you'll be slaughtered. It takes much more time to fastrope than to land, and thus is much safer. If you just land the chopper quickly and push everybody out, you stand a better chance.
