Nice pack..

Don´t get me wrong i liked them in Opf as much as i did in Counter-strike biggrin_o.gif

I don't think that they are ALL counter-strike models and textures.

Look at some of his other work - its amazing - some of the pre-oxygen stuff.

Tried and Complaints:

The M24 and M14 are both underpowered.

The M14 either shouldn't have a full auto mode(Not a whole lot did) or increase the recoil/dispersion.

That heavy recoil on the M24 should be toned down a little.

6. I've never seen a green M60. (I used to be a M60 gunner).  Please make it black like the rest of the weapons.

I was just wondering if you have plans to make the bayonet more powerful. It took me 4 hits to some poor bastard before he even groaned.

amazing pack

BUT!!

can someone tell me how to make a group? as in where i can find it again in the editor? I dont mean where can I find it, I mean how can I edit the pbo and do it myself. I absolutly DESPISE placing the guys in one by one

but yes

the pack is amazing

and I graduated tonight so this is like an amazing graduation present :P

That model in pic looks like what I used to fire in the Army Reserves.

One of my favorite weapons. It's an amazing feeling when you knock down 800 meter targets with it just using iron sights and an assistant gunner with binoculars to spot for you.

HOLY SMOKES!!!!!!!  These weapons are incredible!!!!!!

I really liked the BAS weapons, but...

No disrespect to the talented BAS team intended but the M4's and other weapons in this addon pack are superior to the ones in the BAS weapons pack.  I wish however that they stuck the old SR-47 addon in there.   The sounds are just beautiful in this pack and I also REALLY liked the realism of the M24 sniper rifle.  I kinda miss the white aim point as a reference for close quarters combat but I guess that's what pistols are for.   smile_o.gif

Also to those complaining about the hefty recoil on the M24, I think it's actually very realistic.  If you've ever fired a high power scoped rifle, you DO NOT see the target getting hit through your scope.  That is one reason why you have 2-man sniper teams where one  of the snipers serves as a spotter (with a spotting scope with a laser range finder or just binoculars) to verify if the sniper hit his target.

The switchable cammo on the M-24 sniper rifle is also awesome!  The cammo on the rifle is the best I've seen.  I only wish someone would make a really good sniper unit with a realistic looking Ghillie suit.

Anyhoo... I also love the pistols with the night sites.

Negative gripes:

1. This weapon pack really needs to be made seperate from the soldier units.

2.  The shotgun is maybe a tad bit overpowered (it blows opponents back like 30 feet).

3.  The stroke command could be a little more powerful.

4.  We need a custom bayonet animation that uses a modified "stroke" attack that simulates a bayonet stab.

5. M16 or M4 with a bayonet would be nice.

6. I've never seen a green M60. (I used to be a M60 gunner).  Please make it black like the rest of the weapons.

7. The sniper with the M-24 needs to have a pistol on him for close quarters defense.

8.  When you put or takeoff the cammo on the M24, it switches to grenades.  sad_o.gif  

Overall I really hope the BAS team considers using the weapons in this pack in their next upgrade.  The BAS weapons are good, but I think these weapons definitely are significantly better.  Now if only I had more memory to use this addon pack with all the other "modern" addons I have in a special mod folder.   sad_o.gif   Hence the reason that I hope BAS uses this weapons pack in any new versions of their soldiers addons.  If they don't maybe Operation Code Blue or Suchey's Marines might use them.

There is not a chance of us using these weapons, for a start these are all CS conversions and we believe in homegrown weapons, and secondly they most likely have no LOD's, as CS doesnt use them, which is very very bad for gameplay. They are pretty weapons, but they are just not what we want.

If we wanted CS imports we wouldnt bother with modelling or texturing, we could just port over any units or weapons we needed, we do make them from scratch for the fundamental reason that we enjoy it...

(Sigh)  I was going to get angry about your accusation until I did a little research on the model and texture makers credited in the readme.... and yeah you're right... they are by guys who do weapon modelling for Counter Strike (but not original CS models as your post implies)... however I think some of them (like Dead Meat who is mentioned in the credits) also do models and textures for Operation Flashpoint as well. So I'm not sure what the relations are. As for the LOD problem, the credits mention thanks to Kabal for helping them with the LOD's. So I guess they got that part figured out. Whatever the case, my own opinion is that most of these weapons are superior to the BAS weapons (although the BAS weapons are really good so I'm not putting them down). As long as everything is on the up and up with the original model and texture creators I don't see what the problem is.

(Sigh)  Oh no...  and now the thread is going to go to hell in a flamewar....     Geez Evi... why do you have to make accusations like that without even showing any evidence... the readme says nothing about these weapons being from CounterStrike.  Also these weapons not only look pretty, they also sound pretty, handle pretty, and have a lot of cool custom features such as night sites on the pistol and MP5 in the pack and the switchable cammo on the M24 sniper rifle.  

The only thing I wonder about is whether they got permission from BAS to use their models.  At least they give credit to BAS for those.  

Anyhoo... unless you got some good evidence, please don't accuse other mod groups of stealing models from commercial games.   All that does is just cause unecessary flamewars and bad blood between addon makers.

Erm, all through the other thread the guy says they are cs imports, im not trying to flame in any way, its a fact, there was even some discussion in his other thread between other mod teams not wanting to use the same cs imports, or wondering if he had permission.

Although, dont get me wrong, by 'CS imports' i mean they are addons made for CS/Half Life (or similar) that have been converted, i am in no way accusing him of stealing from the game itself. And dont feel that i am jumping down your throat for saying these are better than the BAS models, these are astounding models and the makers have some real talent, and we at BAS recognise the flaws in our own models and are working on rectifying them, i cant really say much more, but we are working with certain other addon makers to introduce commonality between weapons cpp's and models...

Yeah you're right... Anyways, I hope he did get permission. At the very least he did credit everyone which is a good thing.

At any rate this is a wonderful weapons pack and I'd be pissed if any of the CS modellers didn't allow for these great looking weapons to be ported to OFP.

You are right it`s not green, it`s black or ........maybe I need to get rid of the b\w graphics card. tounge_o.gif

Yes the ones I've used and seen in the U.S. Army have always been all black just like the one in the picture you posted.  In this addon pack however it is green with a tan feed-tray cover which looks really wierd.   Maybe in some other armies they paint their M60's different colors, but I've never seen a M60 in the U.S. Army that wasn't black.  I may be wrong however.   Oh... I should also mention that the M60 was largely replaced by the M-240 (FN-Mag) in most of the U.S. military.

I think there is one part of this addon that i really dont agree with, and thats the M60, this is from an actual commercial game and therefore probably has several copyrights on it, and im pretty sure porting it into ofp would be illegal, its just a shame to detract from the pack when there are probably several well made M60's made by the CS addon making community and the authors would probably be glad to have them ported over, but delving into the money making side of things is dodgy ground...

Other than that, thanks for porting them over, should be a lot of fun to play with smile_o.gif

7. and 8. Thats a problem with the script. there are two different m24 models, one without camo and one with camo. the script works with removeweapon and addweapon. if the sniper have a pistol, he will switch to handgun if you will camo the m24. So i won´t give him a pistol.

@Eviscerator: I made 4 different resolution lods for these weapons!

@PFC_Mike: I try to make a edited config for all who want to replace the standart ofp weapons.

1. Why?

Why not make it modular? Two PBOs. One with soldiers, the other weapons.

If you need to fix one and not the other, it's easier to download.

If someone or an MP server wants to make use of one and not the other, less addons are processed by OFP.

The pictures look great.

How exactly do you change the default weapon models for single player?  I decompressed the data3d.pbo and renamed the originals to the INQ versions, then recompressed.  However, there is no change in-game.  Do you need a mod extension, or what else do you have to do?

It's a mission with all the objects you see placed there using the mission editor. I believe it's on OFP's Desert Island.

It was indeed cool but unplayable because of super lag. Was an interesting concept when it originally came out ages ago.

Sorry, try to replace the models in the data3d.pbo in the \DTA\HWTL\ folder, or in the \Res\DTA\HWTL\ folder, this should work.

About my prefabs: i lost them, as my last webspace was gone. I hope that anyone have them on HD and can send it to me; but i think tey are gone forever sad_o.gif
