nopulse 0 Posted February 10, 2003 It seems lately that the OFP community is dying out WHich is disappointing since people are making some really great addons. Is BIS still going ahead and developing Operation: Independence Lost? Â I heard the curbed it because they are putting all efforts into VBS? I just hope that if Independence Lost is being developed that BIS takes into consideration the mods/addons people have made and makes sure that all the mods/addons that people have developed with be fully compatible with Independence Lost. Â Personally, I would be super pissed if I was a mod'er and none of the addons I developed were compatible with Independence Lost. Â I mean who wants to start all over from scratch. iNeo 0 Posted February 10, 2003 Independence Lost isn't lost, see these two threads: http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....t=26724 http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....t=26272 I think you could notice a change in the community a couple of months ago, lots of people leaving etc. But also lots of people are still around, and there's still people joining the community. JAP 2 Posted February 10, 2003 I had the feeling ofp community was dying out a few months ago, but since then it seems to be becoming better.
Col. Kurtz 0 Posted February 10, 2003 Every few months someone raises this question, yet after all this time, we are still here. Things have quitened donw a bit, but the game is still good, the add-ons are getting better, so it's all good. And then BIS will release a new product, and tons of people will flock here to the forums to discuss it. Or maybe they will be like a lot of people, they come looking for an add-on then find themselves enticed....... No matter what, the hard-core Flashpointers will still be here....... Oh so dramatic

N.o.R.S.u 0 Posted February 10, 2003 Yes true . As long as good, high quality and innovative addons are released, and BIS supports the community one way or another I'm not moving anywhere .
Skunk Monkey 0 Posted February 10, 2003 OFP is not dying out, we have more members than we can take joining our Clan every month and now have around 40 ACTIVE members and a load of regulars on our server. If we unpassword our server its soon packed and everyone seems to enjoy the Game, there is nothing to rival it, B1942 is crap, soon to be realeased Veitcong is nothing new, and resistance brought the graphics up-2-date and a nice sockets netcode that works. LONG LIFE OFP
toadeater 0 Posted February 11, 2003 I think the opposite is happening. I've seen alot more OFP-related activity than a few months ago. Maybe it is because of the GOTY, maybe its because BF1942 and the rest have not delivered on their hype. Whatever it is, there are now more QUALITY addons and missions coming out than we've had before. The mercenaries went over to BF1942 because of the hype, but they'll be back once something significant for OFP is released, which seems to be Independence Lost. Balschoiw 0 Posted February 11, 2003 I kinda like the "thinned" scene at the moment. A lot of quality matches and coop´s take place on servers now. Yes I like that calm things

Admiral_Petrarch 0 Posted February 11, 2003 Meh, the glass is simply twice the size it needs to be. Anyway, this community seems to have a lot of life in it. Gaming communities have a knack for surviving. take the Freespace community, the game was released in 1998, and the community is still going strong. Main FS fan site Despite the fact that the offical Volition forums were closed about a year ago. Also, the fact that the game has gone open source, and is now free to download (legally) might have a lot to do with it.

Tex -USMC- 0 Posted February 14, 2003 Hey man, I'm just wrapping up the second year of my fascination with OFP, and I know alot of you guys are also. I'm going to have to say that if the community isn't going to last forever, it's had a good run (a VERY good run). Not to say it's done yet or anything; I mean hell, things are just starting to get really interesting in the addons and mods department, and with any luck BIS will have officially announced their intentions vis a vis OFP2 inside of 6 months. I know I don't exactly have the widest range of gaming interests, but that right there is enough to keep me with OFP (not that a little extra wouldn't help). HellToupee 0 Posted February 14, 2003 i reckon the sp side of things will far outlast the mp side, mp gets little new always the same games the same people the lack of scale and JIP, but sp u have the mission editor the addons etc
suchey 0 Posted February 14, 2003 In regard to multiplay, we have a pack of conglomerated addons on our dedicated server that the mission makers who frequent our server use. It really adds alot to mp gameplay having new weapons and great new toys to play with in multiplay. You can grab the pack at www.digitalgrenade.com and the server info is available there as well. If your looking to add a little something new to the game in the multiplay realm, swing by and check it out!
