hellfish6 7 Posted February 3, 2003 OK - I finally got a chance to tinker with the BMDs tonight. I love 'em. I'll echo the comments about the smoke grenades and lag. But otherwise, much is improved. I love the new ammo selections (PKT, 2A42 HEI-T and API-T) because the grognard in me screams for that kind of detail. The sounds for the weapons and engines are also first-rate. I don't notice the engine sound being too loud, unlike what someone said earlier. I'm sure Vikingo will post a more thorough evaluation in the very near future, so I'll leave the real critique to him and simply say BRAVO AKM74! Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Major Fubar 0 Posted February 3, 2003 Two things about the smoke: 1. I wouldn't like to see it like kegetys Lynx, for the reason above. The BMD-3 has smoke launchers on the turret, not a smoke dispenser like the Lynx. It wouldn't be realistic. 2. I get no problems using the smoke launcher (I have a pretty fast machine). But for those who do, why not just ignore the smoke launch option, or remove it in the weapons init field? Even if it's there, the AI don't use it. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

akm74 1 Posted February 6, 2003 I decided to remove “smoke†future from v1.0 (at least for now). What’s new in 1.0: I change almost everything in internal view. BMD3 and BMD3M now have 3 man crew. I also increase cargo space to hold 6 solders. Some weapons config tweaks. I try it on desert map. 4 BMD3 against 4 M2A2.  10 times, same setting for both.  7 from 10 M2A2 win with 1-2 units left. Against BMD3M they have no chance, mostly because of 100mm BMD3M main gun. So I dont think that the M will also have a AT4/AT5 launcher when the 100mm gun is really the launchtube for AT14/AT15 missiles.. seems stupid to carry 2 different missiles.. BTW i have one question. Is it passable to apply custom animation for cargo, but only for cargo 7, 8,9,10? What I’m trying to do is... BMD3 for resistance side. And I want extra solders to sit on top if there is no more space inside. If it’s not passable, I will not bother to include resistance side BMD at all. Eviscerator 0 Posted February 6, 2003 i think you should make a resistance side one, its a small and (relatively) cheap IFV, and if you do could you see if you could get it to match the colourscheme on the Lavos MT-LB's, then we would have not only the APC's and AA APCs but also an IFV, also if you are looking for ideas as to what to do next, an infantry helo would be good, something like a KA-60 Kasatka would keep in line with the russian weaponry, or a KA-52, or the latest russian tank (T-95 i think although probably not any 3 views for it), im sure the community would be very glad if we had some modern russian addons to go against the plethora of western addons, anyway, fantastic addon, and you have unbelievable texturing skills!!
