theavonlady 2 Posted January 25, 2003 I take it you meant "price" - not "prize". It would have to be super good, with lots of quality addons, missions and a campaign to get anything out of me. And it would have to be guaranteed upward compatible with future OFP versions.
der bastler 0 Posted January 25, 2003 I'm using my unpayable free time to build add-ons, so I'd say a whole mod is more than ever unpayable ( ). In addition, one is using much information provided by others -unpayable, too. Conclusion: Mods should be free and they should be regarded as "hobby". Period. Just my 0,02€... kegetys 2 Posted January 25, 2003 If its an unofficial mod, I wouldnt pay anything since anything made with O2 cannot be sold so it would be just a bunch of missions and scripts.
pzvg 0 Posted January 25, 2003 No money, never, ever, BIS proofed the game, they made it, they can charge for it, The rest of us are using their tools to build stuff to interact with their engine, hardly what I'd call worthy of compensation. <yes even the best of us, the only real kudo one can hope for is to be picked up by BIS or another studio that's followed your work, outright compensation for modding is ludicrious>
VXR 9 Posted January 25, 2003 i would only buy it if it would be tested or aproved by BIS or Codemasters
Jamesia 0 Posted January 25, 2003 Operation Vietnam was going to be purchasable. Would you pay for Invasion1944? + those prices don't REALLY mean anything to me. It appears that british commerce is COMPLETELY different to american commerce. (eg. in england you would NEVER get any kind of computer game type thing for under Å3)
ExtracTioN 0 Posted January 26, 2003 I only pay for IL or OFP2 MOD's are good but MOD's are not ment to be sold if you look at other games mod's all are free

PSC 0 Posted January 26, 2003 I'm willing to pay for the effort of the makers and the time they spend on a mod, but only if it's legal and if it's worth the money. In that case I would even spend more than 10€. I would probably not spend money for a single addon though. PSC
ExtracTioN 0 Posted January 26, 2003 Well Counter Strike is not a MOD anymore it is became a official game not a mod anymore

Just cause a mod goes mainstream doesn't mean it's not a mod. Even if DoD will be purchasable I can still get it for free off the internet.
acidcrash 0 Posted January 26, 2003 its a Modification of the original game, Half-Life so yes, its still a MOD
Soldier8Boy 0 Posted January 26, 2003 Would I pay for Operation Vietnam or Invasion 1944? Not a chance. I would just play with the stuff from my team, as we will never even think of charging a penny. It just isn't right, and I think anyone that charges is being selfish. I make islands and stuff because I love to do it, and it makes me feel great when others use them. I don't want money, just approval would do.
ExtracTioN 0 Posted January 26, 2003 Haven't you people heard of Counter Strike Condition Zero it is a game not a mod but it is not released yet it going to be released in May 2003 and it is a MP game
Guest #### Posted January 26, 2003 I would buy a MOD for OFP if the publisher a: bought the engine software via licence from BIS. and b: was publishing a game that was compatable but different, ie was a MMORPG that used the Oxy/Visitor engine. The publisher would be as supportive if not more than BIS for addon makers. It couldn't be anything that there is an alternative for like SEBs Nam pack is free but if Operation Vietnam wasn't I wouldn't buy it.
DRa1N 0 Posted January 26, 2003 I would never buy a mod from someone who spells "price", "prize"

Junker 0 Posted January 26, 2003 I think BIS should get all the best UnOfficial addons and release them on CD (like they do with other games) and pay the Mod makers Royalties (lets say 5%)
VXR 9 Posted January 26, 2003 i dont think BIS can do that, everything BIS makes or wants to release has to be tested and aproved by Codemasters
blackdog~ 0 Posted January 26, 2003 Yuck... codemasters... that word should be prohibited from being said on this forum.
Junker 0 Posted January 26, 2003 If Codemasters wasnt around we prolly would'nt of got OFP
Major Fubar 0 Posted January 27, 2003 Nothing. With the quality of free mods coming out I wouldn't pay anything.
