iNeo 0 Posted January 30, 2003 Found something on another forum... which I found by clicking from a third forum to a news page... or something ... </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">There has been a lot of speculation about the follow up to OpFlash since the Independece Lost website closed last year. I decided to contact David at BIS yesterday to see what the status is. He assured me the project is "far from dead" and will be "released in the future". I realize this isn't a whole lot of info, but at least we know that it is still coming and didn't get absorbed by VBS1.<span id='postcolor'> </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">I just read this on another site "Operation Flashpoint 2 September's or August's Issue of Computer Gaming Has a very small acrticle with 1,2 pics and a article on what codemasters is working on. As well as a WWII game with the same graphics engine as ofp. Ok, its in the MAY Issue of Computer Magazine MAY, the WWII game made with the same engine as Ofp, is located on page 45 of this issue, for magazine picture Cover visit this link http://www.cgonline.com/cgm/200205-m1.html#continued this is for just the picture of the issue, Now in the quote for WWII says this in the picture " This is the WORKING title of a real-time stratagy game from the publishers of Operation Flashpiont. They promise to medel heroism, confidence, despair, and cowardice. Now in the operation Flashpoint 2 section (page 56-58) talks about the models that are going to be used to improv upon stealth and, mosly focuing on the AI and how they react to real time envirnments. It says in a picture of the modeling of the ai movments caption " A.i work on Operation Flashpoint 2: attack of the shrubs." Which dosnt mean thats it what the game is called, just how they focus on stealth and the bushes. But the have word in there on the progress of operation flashpoint 2, Not a release date nore an expected demo, or year! Even that matter. If you don't belive me, look it up, sum way or form and look at pages 56-58 on " <span id='postcolor'> Both quotes are from this site, the last one is a quote with a quote and is a bit messy, but wtf Neo
theavonlady 2 Posted January 30, 2003 This has been discussed already. The WWII game is not based on OFP's graphics engine. OFP's publisher is Codemasters - not BIS.

Khaine 0 Posted January 30, 2003 From what I've been able to find out, the WWII RTS, being developed by Maddox Games (developer of IL-2 Sturmovik) and published by Codemasters, looks like it's based on the IL-2 Sturmovik engine, if it's based on anything at all, and not a new engine. The terrain and water effects very closely mirror those to be found in Maddox Games' upcoming IL-2 Forgotten Battles. It's not based on the Operation Flashpoint engine, as far as I can tell. Too bad we haven't gotten much in the way of info on upcoming BIS titles...

LT.Schaffer 0 Posted January 30, 2003 Hi Again, Well i am perfectly happy to wait on Independence Lost because i know that the longer the wait means the better the Game but some info would not hurt maybe BIS could release a teaser trailer for it

Tex -USMC- 0 Posted February 4, 2003 It would truly be a coup for Codemaster's marketing division if it turns out that BIS has had Independence Lost finished for months now, and they managed to cover it up. I mean, if CM goes by their regular pattern of behavior.

Paladin 1 Posted February 6, 2003 If its off the same game engine as ofp then it couldn't be that much different. Though in comparison of graphics IL is by far superior.
ale2999 0 Posted February 6, 2003 ofp and resistance have system requirment drastically different. I imagine same for IL
