cam0flage 0 Posted January 3, 2003 I just noticed that there are some modern spetsnaz available for download at flashpoint.ru. They look pretty cool with the kevlar helmets and everything, but I couldn't get them to work. Could someone who can read Russian drop some info here if they require some special addons. What's up with all these Russian addons coming out everyday? Great
LightBringer 0 Posted January 3, 2003 This thing is in beta phase. But no word about any other addon needed. And no readme in the package... :/ You should wait untill the final version... CU.

CanadianTerror 0 Posted January 3, 2003 The problem is that if you dont speak russian, you have no idea what you need for extra addons.
CrunchyFrog 0 Posted January 3, 2003 The models are imported from HL or something, and they are crap.

USMC Sniper 0 Posted January 3, 2003 HL doesn't have an AK. And they are not imported from HL, have a look around some CS gun websites, there are no properly done AK's, AS VAL's, VSS's, and other things like that.

suchey 0 Posted January 3, 2003 Sniper...I think he means the player models mentioned above are ported from Counter Strike...which they are...they were originally a SWAT team or FBI guy or something similar...Capt Moore ported them over. Mailmans weapons pack is nice...I like that quite a bit.
miles teg 1 Posted January 3, 2003 This pack is very frustrating. On one of the models (the one with the unit name written in Russian when you select a unit) I get an error..something about some model missing (probably cuz I'm missing that Makarov pistol). The rest by mailman aren't too bad. The GRU troops for example are fairly good. However the ones with the blue uniforms look horrible texture-wise. I've never seen any Spetsnaz groups wearing bright sky blue camo uniforms. Their helmets however are the proper assault helmets that Spetsnaz wear when they are doing close quarters combat missions. They even have one of the guys wearing one of these helmets with a animated face shield. On the BBC I saw some Iraqi special ops soldiers wearing these helmets also. At any rate, I wish Mailman would make the uniforms a different color. The models are great but the textures very poor except for the GRU Spetsnaz. .40S&W 0 Posted January 3, 2003 UCE's Russian Federation units despite being "only" a texture work, still remains the best ones around.
Major Fubar 0 Posted January 4, 2003 Can someone mirror these? I'm getting sick and damned tired of flashpoint.ru addons - why don't they just put their addons in the download section instead of making you become a member to access the forums before you can download them. I've tried to sign up about 6 times, and it never works. I don't speak Russian, and babelfish is horribly unreliable.

suchey 0 Posted January 4, 2003 The models imported from Counter Strike are NOT mailmans versions of the sptz...its the other version ....the spetz IM talking about which are imported from CS are these: The picture above is seperate from mailmans pack...he did a completely different set...he also did the Russian Weapons pack...(which I like alot by the way). So...to sum up: above picture: not from mailman but deffinately done from a base model which was imported into OFP from CS... You can download the original import of the model from here: http://www.opflashpoint.org/addons.php?v=95 which also includes a good spas shotgun. Mailmans pack is completely different. RMATICH 0 Posted January 4, 2003 I agree on two points: Fubar is right about the ru site. I get frustrated by foreign web pages also. But they make great addons! Â Â They rock. Also I agree that UCE Russian units look outstanding and they are hard for anyone to beat. They are on my short list of stuff I want to get downlaoded for Flashpoint soon. Like I said I aint knocking people from other lands. Just hate that I don't speak their language to visit those great sites like RU has more "effectively". mailman76 0 Posted January 4, 2003 And my's spetsnaz units (spetsnaz GRU and Vityaz) is beta versions, with this is mind i'm not included Readme.txt and demo-mission. An esualy i'm encluded readme.txt and capability demo-missions. One qustion: Why the textures are crap??? About Flashpoint.ru: this is Russian site with this is mind all writing in russian. .40S&W 0 Posted January 4, 2003 Very promising beta indeed. Flashpoint.ru IS also in English. http://west.flashpoint.ru/ whenever any addon of Russian team achieves its final stage, it's goint to be posted there for sure. As for UCE's units and mailman rus weapon pack, they fit each other perfectly.

About Flashpoint.ru: this is Russian site with this is mind all writing in russian.<span id='postcolor'> Mailman, you Vityaz uniforms are very bright!! Do they really go into combat in Chechnya wearing bright sky-blue uniforms??? I found a pic of Group Alpha during the anti-terrorist assault on that Moscow theatre wearing these uniforms at: http://news.bbc.co.uk/media....0ap.jpg So I guess apparently they do wear these uniforms for urban combat. However there are no huge sprawling cities in OFP so much of the time is spent moving across woods and open areas where these blue uniforms stand out way too much. So I hope that you make version of the Vityaz with normal green uniforms because I VERY much like the models especially assault helmets on the Vityaz and the model with the animated blast visor that folds down. I would greatly appreciate if you could give them regular green cammo textures at least to simulate one of the other Spetsnaz units ("Alfa", "Beta", "Gamma", "Vimpel", and "OMON"). Keep up the good great work!!! Oh by the way... I think the "terrible textures" comment that someone made were in reference to the other Spetsnaz (the ones in the black uniforms). Those could use some improving I think as they don't have much detail on them. But I'm not sure if you made those. At any rate, I would recommend that you put all your Spetsnaz in one addon pack (in a ZIP or RAR file please) and also to have them mirrored on non-Russian sites as well because it really is a difficult for us non-Russian speakers to download your wonderful addons especially when they are scattered about in as different downloads. Keep up the great work!!! Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>

That's as bad as the U.N. soldiers wearing bright blue "Shoot Me" berets!!! I bet the Chechnyan rebels must love those uniforms...on Russians that is. Those uniforms make for great targets! Still I hope that Mailman will use his Vityaz models but with different textures to simulate some of the other Spetnsaz groups that wear normal green camoflage. Until then I think I'll just stick with his GRU troops... I don't like their assault helmets as much, but the textures on their uniforms I think make for better camoflage in OFP.
